All vague stupid analogies aside, if you're in school, finish it. You may be jumping ahead of yourself if you are trying to job hunt without even a degree under your belt. Do degrees guarantee jobs? Jobs are competitive and you should take care to ensure your skills are worth a second glance on that resume that gets looked at for 15 seconds. Everyone's resume is looked at for 15 seconds. Get noticed, be confident! And seriously, send a thank you letter. It's cheesy as fuck and dumb but you need to show them that you care.

Fuck loans, apply and maintain the FAFSA and earn yourself some Pell Grants. You do have to fall under a certain income bracket of course, though. That's the only real catch. Also you must maintain good grades to keep it.
Some states have additional grants as well, you just have to apply for them. Scholarships too, write some essays and earn college money.

But I'll say it again, Fuck. Loans. I haven't taken a single one out since I begun schooling. After an official Education Plan was laid out, I see exactly what classes I have left and so long as I don't fail any classes, I will have my degree without a single loan. It's difficult.
