The best brand for instruments on the market. Prove me wrong. Also general musician thread
>>
>>728865895
Rickenbacker? Not enough versatile, loads of character but not versatile at all
>>
I've always been fond of Ibanez but that's mostly fanboyism
>>
My personal go to is a Fender strat. Yeah go ahead and laugh cause I say strat but it's a great guitar and I've used one since I was 11. Now although they're great guitars I know there's better ones out there I am just putting my opinion in.
>>
>>728866987
Agreed to that but I'm talking about all around a solid instrument. >>728867098
Ibanez made some good stuff when they were first directly competing with Fender but now it seems like you have to shell out a fucking fortune to get a semi decent guitar or bass
>>
>>728865895
Id love to have a 4080
>>
>>728867256
Strats are def a good solid instrument. Some higher end ibanez or even prs are my favs for guitar though
>>
>>728867381
Op here. I'm a bass dude but I definitely love the 4080 series. Hopefully soonish (4-5 months) I can get my hands on a used 4008
>>
>>728866987
Also what's your goto brand?
>>
>>728867564
i wouldn't even play it i just love doubleneck guitars. a gibson 1275 would be equally as awesome.. oh and i think the first 4080 ever belonged to Geddy Lee. so theres that as well.
>>
>>728868467
The 1275 was Jimmy Pages' right? If so I would love to just own one. I can't play guitar for shit but I would just hang that on my wall
>>
>>728867564
I have had a music man stingray, fender p bass and a ric 4003 never found anything as great as my 4003
>>
Ive had a $350 jackson forever and it sounds better clean than most peoples higher end gibsons and schecters with equipments and pedals
>>
>>728869159
Id kill for a 4003. I currently have a Fender Jazz and a really decent Höfner knockoff
>>
>>728869422
Jackson makes some of the most solid guitars I've ever seen.
>>
Is it unholy to say strandberg? It was pricey as hell but it plays like a dream and I love supporting smaller companies when I can. Have also owned a few schecters that were really great for the price (jl-7, km-6, omen 8, and diamond series solo 6). I banes basses have really blown me away too for a budget bass
>>
>>728869976
Haaaaate the look of strandbergs. Schecter makes some of my favorite basses but I've never actually owned one. And budget bass ibanez is infinitely better than squier but you have to pay for quality in them
>>
>>728870459
The look definitely isn't for everyone. Haven't played enough schecters basses to safely sing their praises, but if they're anything like their guitars they must be great
>>
>>728865895
Rickenbackers are awesome but wayy too expensive for the price. I love telecasters because they are like Honda's, you can customize the hell out of them, theyre cheap, have a great history and I like the way they sound/play. Ive I had the money though i'd buy a suhr telecaster personally.
This thing has a full roasted rosewood neck. HHHNNNGGG
>>
>>728870997
They're good for hardcore/punk/etc but most of if not all the basses are punchy and aggressive for anything else
>>
>>728871260
Teles are probably my favorite as far as looks. Again op here and can't play guitar but if I ever pick it up I'm definitely going to be getting a tele. Ricks are never worth it new just because they're always in mint condition used for nearly a grand less
>>
The telecaster has got to be one of the most versatile guitars. I've owned probably a dozen variations. Never had a Suhr. Reverend makes a real nice Tele style that's pretty reasonably priced.

That said, been on a Jazzmaster kick lately. Crazy comfortable, flexible tone, fun to play.

Brand? Fender for life.
>>
>>728871925
Fender is so good. They've been successful enough that they have such a wide range. Pretty much anything Mexican Fender up is going to be quality

ESP
>>
>>728865895
Aren't Rickenbackers incredibly fragile though?
>>
>>728873392
I've heard good things with ESP. Any particularly amazing about them?
>>
>>728873568
Not from what I heard. I met a dude touring and he's had a 4003 since 2013 and hasn't had a single problem

I have a six string fender jazz style bass and i absolutely love it. My buddy has a Warwick and that is an all around solid bass and one of my personal favorites.
>>
Implying Neil Moser guitars aren't the best in the world.

Illusion guitars close second, obviously.
>>
>>728873740
There custom shop work is second to none
>>
>>728874452
Warwick is up their for me. Never heard one played that I didn't like

Fender has a very strong line from entry acoustics to pro models. They have been around for years. You can go to any guitar store and meet some guy between bands that can fix a Fender. Good prices and Fender even has lessons on line.
>>
>>728876457
The biggest issue I have with Fender is every die hard Fender fanboy. All they buy is Fender. All they recommend is Fender. It dilutes the market so much and makes it difficult for other brands to release more diverse products
>>
>>728875565
Warwick is a great brand, I've been looking to get one for some time because my six string is way to heavy to play consistently
>>
>>728876873
I don't think I would ever use more than a 4. But definitely agree. Buddy of mine played in a progressiveish band with a 4 string Warwick
>>
>>728876827
>The biggest issue I have with Fender is every die hard Fender fanboy. All they buy is Fender. All they recommend is Fender. It dilutes the market so much and makes it difficult for other brands to release more diverse products
Keep in mind that most Fender guys can barely beat their way out of a paper bag while changing chords. It is a good starting ground and a damn good company for sponsorship if you can play the game right.

The guitar business is a bit of a "Two Show Whites and the seven dwarves" scene. Gibson and Fender just over half of the market. The rest is up for grabs with Ibanze (the wacky third place) leading the charge.
>>
>>728877561
Oh yeah I'm not denying them being a good company. Hell that's why they rule the market. I just get salty when I see amazing luthiers get nowhere because it's always safer to go with Fender, Gibson, or ibanez
>>
>>728877944
>I just get salty when I see amazing luthiers get nowhere because it's always safer to go with Fender, Gibson, or ibanez
Welcome to the scene. Find a name to endorse the luther and he'll get commissions and laid. Until then, he is just one more craftsman working in their shed looking for a break.
>>
Op here heading to bed. Thanks for the musical talk my dudes
>>
Whats you guy's thoughts on the Ernie Ball Music man?
>>
>>728878610
Oh well before I head to bed I fucking dig stingrays. They're sub is alright but almost on par with squier
>>
>>728878918
Too tired for proper grammar aha. **their
>>
>>728877055
I only use a six because I like to use as many chords as I can, also great for tapping rhythms.
>>
>>728865895
$800 is the baseline for top quality instruments, anything above that is just a waste. ricks don't have a sound I'd pay $1k for, pretty ugly and heavy (like your mother), and if I had an instrument that expensive I'd never bring it on stage.
>the answer is Fender
>>
>>728867098
Same. Used to love Ibanez, but now it's gotten to a point where going strat is more cost-effective in terms of quality.
>>
>>728873392
I've got a 69 PRS original. Best axe ever made IMHO LOL
>>
>>728865895
These are pretty good, but you need to take double mortgage to buy one and thats without amps and pedals.
Theres nothing a decent fender or ltd wont do for a better cost.
>>
>>728881352
Also from what I remember the bass guitar is really heavy
>>
>>728873642
They also got LTDs which are simply cheaper but still pretty damn good.

tfw the drummer is still out of place in a music thread

>>728873392
Yep. This right here.
>>
>>728867317
The past couple years Esp/ltd has been nothing but quality $500 and up.

Kiesel/carvin is hands down best quality/versatility all around I've come across. $1000 up though

Love my Ibanez's. But that's my opinion.
