I think there are a couple reasons why /b/ is boring.
1. It's always the same threads (traps, celeb, fb/ig).
2. There is no sense of community. We used to have threads by students asking for help on a paper, people asking for relationship advice, the daily "Dear Diary, today OP was not a faggt.."
3. Related to 2., it is a little too anonymous. I enjoy being a nameless neckbeard on /b/, but when anons post half the time it is to be edgy. If half the posts are meaningless edgy posts, then the board gets boring.
