Multipliers go together because it's a whole value number, just uncalculated (ie not simplified). Basically, the 3x6 is a separate equation that must be solved first to calculate a term, because it's not solved yet and can't be used in addition/subtraction. As you go through the BODMAS/PEMDAS shit, all you're doing is simplifying what the term is to it's most basic form for addition and subtraction. Remember, maths is about making things easier to do, not harder. It's more that maths requires a lot of practice so you remember it all.
