Hey OP, the circle of intelligence defines that the smartest people are the lest confident about their intelligence. This is because they understand how much they dont know. The dumber you are, the more you think you know and the more confident you are about being smart.

>>
>>727739887
This could be true, but in what regards, is what tends to matter the most. I'm allegedly above-average according to standardized testing. I have yet to become "expert level" in a field of study, but I'm fully confident, if not humbly aware, of how easily some things come to me- which make me seem "smart". But my IQ could mean fuck all if you ask me to do something that requires formal training or experience/prior learning. I guarantee that I would kill a man if you asked me to do open heart surgery on him, regardless of my aptitude, and I could only tell you that he died because I did not understand what I was doing to the most feasible degree. Even if you gave me 10-15 years of formal education on how to do heart surgery, I may simply not have the right mind for it.

I mean, the "below-average" layman could do what I could do if they put in (probably less that some) effort and hard work. And, so I can cheat while others work more in some areas, sure. This doesn't mean that I don't have to work hard elsewhere. My only real edge in the world is my memory skills- and this gives me more working memory than most people I will ever meet in my short life; someone with a 90 IQ could get more jobs than I would ever get, and probably even know more than I do. The real difference, is that I might (might) be able to learn what they know, in a much shorter window of time.

So, even though this is /b/, I guess I've to read through the thread and humor myself like a faggot, to see whether or not this was bait. As a "smartfag".

i've always thought this was a bad counter to an even worse argument
i'm pretty sure "perfect grammar" is actually impossible as well, due to problems with context-sensitive languages and the almost philosophical definition of the meaning behind the words
an interesting aside: if perfect grammar were possible, it would be possible to use such a language as a programming language
butthurt english majors like to jump on you whenever you make a small mistake, and call you an idiot or say your writing is incoherent
but they obviously understand what you're trying to say, because they always correct you
and if it were truly incoherent they wouldn't have been able to understand it, right?

>world is my memory skills

I should also throw in to no one in particular, that in a social setting, there's a difference between making the point of being knowledgeable, and being insufferable. I think that goes along with the theme of "smart people tend to not show they are smart" and "smart people are annoying"- it's rather that most people who, for lack of a better phrase, "know they are smart", don't really know how to show that... well. Being able to make the distinction between making the point, and being insufferable, may come with what some call "emotional intelligence"; I'm confident enough in saying that most of the failings people have with "emotional intelligence" comes from a lack of social interaction, than an inability to interpret social interaction. In a sense, their only reference to how to interpret or perpetrate the situation, is themselves and whatever sort of biased, ideal scenario they can bring to life in their imagination. Or on paper, whatever does it for whomever.

Intelligence is not a totally ordered concept as numbers are.

Any attempt to sort people by intelligence will lead to contradictory conclusions.

Any attempt to measure it with numbers (iq) is futile and useless

It seems obvious, but I'd like to give 3 pieces of evidence:

1) Multiple dimensions
I do very good at math, yet i suck at making a point, even with evidence. My best friend has no diploma, but he can "win" an argument with about zero knowledge on a subject.
There are situations where I'm the smart guy, and he's the idiot. There are other situations where I'm useless and where he's the hero.
> well, ok, I can't say one of you is smarter than the other. But someone good at both subjects is smarter than you guise, and someone who suck at both is dumber. Implying intelligence is not a total order, yet there still are people "uniformly" wiser than others.

2) Arbitrary choice of the definition of a "clever move"
Is "being nice and generous to people" something clever or dumb?
You can argue for days about this, the simple fact there are different point of views, and that none will be convinced by arguments of the opposite, shows that you can't just say "duh nice people are stupid cause other abuse of them" or "duh nice is nice so it's better because hitler was not nice" and claim to solve the question
> well ok, for a specific, quantifiable subject, the orientation of the scale is not always obvious. But often, there clearly is a "good way" and a "dumb way"

3) Self-refuting concept
When "not being clever" is the best option, how the fuck do you define intelligence?
And don't tell me that it doesn't exist: considering any multiple-player confrontation situation (war, games, politics...) where alliances are possible, the strongest is actually the one to shoot down...
(looking dumber/weaker than you are is a strategy taken into account in the definition of "strongest", you may not know who the strongest is but still you need to kick his ass)

why do you think you are smart? what does it mean to be smart? Is being smart good? they say ignorance is bliss, would you agree?

Ya dumb ass, 3/3 is one and 1/3 is just a third of one, they've been all rounded, in reality 1/3 is 0.3333333 and so on, it's an endless period.

Well, I guess it's more like studying is hard, because they're used to get things straight, without trying hard. At some point it becomes difficult, so they're naturally annoyed and give up

Just because you're smart, that doesn't mean you literally know everything lmao, it's impossible that that you know everything about anything. I doubt the people you met knew how to get more knowledge, they're probably some lazy fuckers.

Then again, you moron, I'm not saying grammar is useful in your daily life, but you getting butthurt for sucking at it won't make you smarter. I guess Einstein didn't get butthurt about people complaining when he made a grammar mistake like you do.
And just in case, you mongoloid, didn't get my point: Grammar doesn't matters, you can be bad at it and it's fine, but just don't get butthurt for sucking at it.

The one guy is literally some kinda fucked up genius. He studied cybernetics. He is currently working on creating a new dark net. He has worked for many government agencies but he always quits because he usually finds out the stuff he is working on is unethical.

Huh?
I guess you must have misunderstood. I wasn't arguing about grammar. I was just merely stating fact. It seems we both agree on the same thing but you're being angry for some reason.
I teach English and my grammar is horrendous. I'm intelligent creatively and my lack of proper English skills holds me back.
I've tried studying over and over but my brain just can't retain basic grammar.

Explain the chaotic behaviour of a simple algorithm and its relation to Newton Raphson method?
>>

I think it's more like. They found a flaw with what they were studying and asked questions that teachers couldn't answer. Of course someone who is really smart will just pretend they agree with the teacher.
