Post a favorite game of your past, and try to be original. I'll start with one of my all time favorites.
Best fishing game that I know of
Do you even ski lift?
>>727568395
I use to play it on my childhood household's first pc, which i think was running Windows 3.1 if i'm not mistaken.

Yeah i checked, the cover art you posted looks just like the skiing game that was installed on my Windows 3.1 pc. I'm not sure the name of it, maybe Skiing or skifree or something like that, but very similar

I met Archer MacLean a few months ago. Talked to him about his appearance on Games Master. Top bloke.
GOAT
>>727566859
Ghouls n Ghosts on the Genesis.
>>727572003
Sorry but the Snes version (super G and G) kicked the ass of all other versions.

Not that you care but is my ugly mug with him
>>727572323
You're one of those guys that had nothing else to do during work in the 90s, aren't you?
creepy game, shame they don't make games like this anymore.
these days its all about mechanized robot sharks in deathmatch.
>>727572612
I knew this is what he was on about but couldn't be arsed to post.
>>727572465
I actually do care, that's damn awesome :)
Those were fun times, I need to get off my ass and fix that Atari ST I bought so I can mess around with the ST port of IK.
This was awesome back in the days when games took half an hour to load... then crashed
>be me
>manage to buy c64 from allowance
>only came with tape drive
>disk drive too expensive ;_;
>copy game tape from friend
>has like 500 games on it!
>99% of them never load
>at least Ghostbusters did!
>Still love it.
>>727573089
Good luck...Had an 520 STfm back in the day and sold it for an Amiga 500+....Never looked back. 25 years later and I have 6 Amigas all set up in my games room.
Anyway...time for bed.
Don't mind me, just the best version of California Games Surfing coming through.
>>727573747
Haha...I've just had the McWill mod done on my Lynx and I've been playing this a lot.

Anyway I'm deffo off to bed now...
Nice thread, guys. Seeya.
>>727573977
Man I love Wonderboy, I had such a great time playing WB5 on the Megadrive.
Really looking forward to the two new ones.
playing games on this
not super old but i recently did a no-death play through, so fuckin fun
>>727566859
This was my childhood.
>>727573977
Yeah, it sure does
>>727572103
well you can't really compare them as Super G&G was the sequel to G&G rather than a conversion from the arcade original
They're all excellent... for me the Ghosts & Goblins arcade will always have the edge for nostalgia
>>727571503
+1
Have you tried "The Dark Mod"? Fan made Thief in Doom 3 engine, bloody awesome community, they have like a hundred missions already.

>>727574759
My fucking nigga, I got a copy of Legends for $20 at a local used game store about a year ago and I absolutely loved it
Can't forget about Mario, I used to play on the shop demo machines whenever I could...
I had a ZX Spectrum at the time but this game made me want a NES soooo badly
SOR1 might look more dated than its sequel, but damn if it didn't have the grittiest feel to it :)
>>727578196
fully agree bro, best streets of rage.
Tokkyuu Shirei - Solbrain
still my favorite since 1993
>>727578196
I fucking love that game
>>727566859
Fuck Yeah! Hamster in the microwave for the win!
I still go back to beat this game every year or two.
https://s.mprd.se/GameBase%20Amiga/Extras/Boxscans/W/Wing%20Commander_Front.jpg
>>727578665
music is awesome in this one (shatterhand).
Iku Mizutani and kouichi yamanishi did a great work.
this game can reinforce friendships.
>>727566859
Is this original enough
>>727579482
I found a fucking glitch in that a week or two ago, never open a doorway when you're being attacked by gophers.
Game just.. well it didn't freeze, I just didn't reappear. :p
I was a master at wxw shoppa, proper, RR you name it.
>>727578828
wasn't the hamster microwave option cut out of the US release or some gay shit? or maybe it was the pal version
Oldfag here
Braindead 13 anyone?
Or at least Dragon's Lair?
>>727579933
Dragons Lair and Space Ace, the shitty PC version and the ub4r videoCD one
>>727580083
Dragon's Lair 2 was this shit though. My favorite of all the reaction click adventures.
Fucking loved this game so hard
only problem is that playing an evil party kinda sucked
>>727579733
Really? I've never found a single glitch to date. kek I need to try that now
>>727579828
Just for the NES version, all the other ports were intact I think.
>>727580244
Yeah I was pissed, I had already fallen down like twice and finally got back to the highest level.
I was like 7 years old and didn't quite get it, but me and my brothers were howling with laughter. Not my favorite game but certainly my best gaming memory
>>727580182
Don Bluth's evil guys (and some heroes) have those unique face expressions
>>727566859
I've yet to encounter a game quite as entertaining and compelling as the original Tribes. Nothing like nailing someone midair with an explosive disc while gliding across the ground at 200mph, or running a flag from an enemy's base to your own, in constant motion without interruption, in a matter of seconds.
God I miss the original Tribes. I'd give anything for it to be recreated in its original form and physics with updated graphics. Masterpiece.
>>727579163
I never got to beat it, got bored after the angel/demon choice
>>727580889
>!
Do you mean Light magic Vs. Dark Magic?
>>727566859
Baseball Stars for NES. Still like to play it every now and then.
>>727580442
Some day I'll make my own cartridge with both these games on it!
>>727573285
Fucking classic shit right there.
Nothing beats early wow
if you played terokkar EU you probably remember guild Savage. We were so good at BG's that we ended up in some wow magazine issue. I miss it all.
>>727581024
Yes, when you choose your alignment between the city full of vampires and skeletons, or the one with titans and stuff. It felt like starting the game all over again: new city, missions and stuff. Tried to beat when released, tried to beat a year ago. No profit.
>>727579482
Which one? The first one for Genesis? The second one? Or the one on one of the more recent consoles....
>>727581750
We are talking about two different games friend.
You may be talking about Might and Magic 7 I couldn't get into it the graphics are almost the same though.
My favorite is Might and Magic 6. No vampires at all.
>>727566859
>>727581882
There's really only one Toejam & Earl anon, the 2nd one was Sega forcing them to make a generic platformer, and the third.. ugh.
>>727579913
I loved this game but i smacked my dad's spectrum floppy with a snake plush and it stopped working (game was on a floppy)
>>727582501
Personally, I always liked the second one. Yeah, it's pretty much what you said, a generic platformer. But I still had a lot of fun with it.
Any Atari fags out there?
>>727582824
yup. tho i never had my own always squatted at friend's place and played for hours and hours
>>727583606
What was your favorite game for the system?
>>727583752
Ever play Sports Talk Baseball?
>>727580304
Naw dawg, you could totally nuke the hamster in the American NES version. Then if you showed the nuked hamster to Weird Ed, he killed whichever character you were playing. :)
>>727584141
No I didn't fam, any good?
>>727584102
can't remember names but that one with leaping frogs that jump and eat flies and hide and seek, these are the ones i can remember having a laugh, forgot most of them by now. yours?
>>727572301
Loved this one and Settler 2 to death, played with 2 mice with my brother and best friend for years.
What were those circle buttons on the buttom right though? I always figured they would do something with the gamespeed but I could never tell a difference when clicking them.
>>727584433
Yeah. It's a pretty damn good game, though it hasn't aged all that well like a lot of games from that era. Used to play that game a lot when I was younger.
>>727571785
God damn I bet if I played this again it would be shit. Right when I started smoking buds in HS we would play this in my friends basement. Good times
>>727584321
Early releases allowed you to, but then some bible thumping mothers bitched and later releases wouldn't let you.
All NES version releases were language censored too.
>>727584619
You mean Frogs n Flies? Yeah. that's some pretty good shit right there. That was one of the first games I ever owned and it's still a good bit of fun to this day.
Some of my favorite games for the console were River Raid, Pitfall 2, Midnight Magic and Yar's Revenge, to name a few....
>>727584321
can confirm. you can still microwave it, but there were other parts of the game that were censored in the North American version.
>>727566859
I thought Day of the Tentacle was better, no dead ends and better puzzle design with the time travel machine.
>>727584990
A baseball game I do remember playing was RBI Baseball on a friends Amiga
>>727566859
This was my shit! That and the other related one pic related.
>>727585379
True, but Maniac Mansion has that very classic look and feel to it.
It still felt.. dare I say.. dangerous.
For me it always had that spooky feel, which later Lucasgames lost.
Loved this game back in the day
>>727582824
I'm here you old fuck. Used to play Pitfall & ET (yes that ET, at 7 years old, I didn't think it was that bad) until my fucking eyes bugged out.
Atari coulda been even bigger if they'd spent time making decent games & ports of games instead of pushing them to market in the name of a cash grab. Activision took their goddam time and look where they are now.
Fucking Amazing game. Would love another multi player couch RPG in this vein to come out.
>>727585483
Is that where they got the idea for three headed monkeys?
>>727585702
And in similar fashion, this was great also
>>727585379
Nah... Day of the Tentacle limited you too much. The original had a bunch of different endings and stuff depending on the characters you took with you.
>>727582824
Yeah yeah! I was KING of pic related.
>>727585520
Same here, I played it when I was very young and I didn't actually realize it was supposed to be funny. The house felt really creepy to me. Day of the Tentacle was great, but there was nothing frightening about it whatsoever.
Some of the parts of the Indiana Jones games were pretty dark though. IIRC you could die in several ways while trying to go through Atlantis.
>>727582567
I'm beat this tripping on mushrooms in 1998. Game says congratulations when you beat it and then loops over.
>>727585445
I never played the Amiga version, but I did play the ones that came out on NES and later on, the Genesis. The NES ones were pretty good, The Genesis ones were kinda meh, though.
>>727585702
You ever play Seiken Densetsu 3? Better than Secret of Mana, imo.
>>727569207
I absolutely mastered this game.
>>727585668
They also should of done a better job of controlling what was actually released for the console. Sure, there were some classic games, but there was a lot of crap released for the system as well. And I mean a lot!!! That, to me is what really hurt them.
>>727585520
Yeah I guess. For me it was Fate of Atlantis. The different routes were awesome. It felt more adult, to my kid self anyway.
>>727585954
Funnily enough, I never played that one. Any good?
>>727585233
Yeah, frogs n flies. Ah yes River Raid, now when i googled it i remember it too, good shit if i do say so myself.
First game you owned, like on cartridge? I don't remember his atari had any cartridges. All i remember is that he had A LOT of games on it already and when we where searching for a game we had to flip a switch and cycle through dozens of games until we found one we want. Was such a chore -.-
>>727585851
I believe so. It's been a while, but there are several points where the games reference each other.
>>727566859
Hell yeah.
>>727580222
It was one of the best games when it came out. Years later I think of replaying it and realize there are a fuck ton of mods for it. Adding up all the time I spent on installing and playing these easily add up to 1000
>>727586305
True there were some real shit games out there. It was back before rentals were a thing too so you'd be spending the equivalent of around $130 based on box art & commercials, just to find out a game was garbage.
>>727586537
Yup. I owned it on cartridge. Still do, as a matter of fact.
>>727586408
I couldn't get enough. One time, I was playing at a friend's house and he wanted to go out. I was in the middle of an epic run and didn't want to leave yet. In response he switched the difficulty switch, halving my rate of fire. Barely slowed me down.
tl;dr I would rank it up with Ms. Pac-Man
Syndicate.
>>727586935
Yeah. I've been burned a few times like that. Never a good thing knowing that you just wasted your hard earned money on a piece of crap that you were only gonna play once or twice at the most before either selling it to somebody else or throwing it away...
>>727587149
That was my game right there!!!! I actually still play that at work sometimes...
>>727586124
Nope. What system was it for?
Anyone play this one? So much allowance!
>>727587401
selecta
favorite game right here
>>727587528
Same here. I run emulators to play a lot of that old stuff.
I spent a lot of time playing through this game on my brother's old Packard Bell.
I really need to get a Dos emulator on my new comp and play through it again.
sitting through computer class it was this or mavis beacon. Man fuck that bitch
>>727587598
It's on the Super Famicon, the jap SNES. It was made by Square as well. Imo, it is the best SNES game of all time, but it never got to America.
It has epic music, multiple characters to play as with different stories, secret end boss and a better leveling system
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYlKS3-yY3o
You can find a fan translated rom on the internet.
>>727587921
Yeah. it's just easier that way. Don't get me wrong, I still have my old Atari at home and I still like to fire it up every now and then. But it's just a lot more comvienient- and cheaper- to just play them on my PC. I don't have the time, space, or cash to start collecting old games and setting up a game room in my house right now.
>>727585655
BUSHIDO BLADE MASTER RACE
Acro Circus was better than you remember.
>>727588223
I'll have to try that one, all the Squaresoft titles on the SNES were pretty special, if I had the time I would replay Chrono Trigger to try and get the good ending
Favorite game of past and present. I play it (and Fallout 1) every couple of years.
Still remember day when I played Fallout 1 demo and reverse pick-pocketed leather armor to a homeless guy and then I was sad cus he didn't change his looks :(
>>727588331
Unfortunately, no amount of blowing gets a cartridge to work on mine. I do occasionally fire up pic related.
>>727574636
Fuck that scammy shit
>>727589019
Wow. Where did you find that, and how much did it cost you?

>>727589903
Kek. Sounds exactly like me when I was a kid.... ;-)
>>727590007
What does it do?
>>727590007
I'm currently building a Pi3 into an arcade pcb to use with my cabinet, but I can't get the damn thing to display properly.
I just keep seeing like a billion screens all flickering through each other.
I tried many configs, I'm starting to wonder if its my hdmi2vga convertor.
>>727588728
Well, there's my new desktop ;-)
>>727590007
it plays everything up to Dreamcast & PC games although the Dreamcast has slowdown issues, it's a modular system so you can just add the systems that you like... it can pretty much run all of the old skool consoles and home computers, highly recommended
>>727590296
This is on my project list but I haven't tried it yet, it should work fine in a cab
...assuming you're using the converter type with additional usb power lead to compensate for the low voltage HDMI signal from the Pi3 then it should work
One of the first games i played was Adventure on the Atari 2600, and Combat. Loved the bouncy bullet tanks
>>727590825
The 3 planes versus one big plane game variation was bullshit, though.
>>727590688
>...assuming you're using the converter type with additional usb power lead to compensate for the low voltage HDMI signal from the Pi3
Hmmm, that might be the problem then..
I use one similar to the attached pic.
So its like, Pi3-->HDM2VGA-->GBS 8100-->Jamma
>>727591500
Forgot pic.
>>727591534
Guess I need one of these, weird how no website I visited ever mentioned this.
they all show the simple convertors.

King Salmon on Genesis was my favorite.
>>727596838
I had this game. has a bitchen embossed box. Anime explosions setting for the win. they did censorship right. this is how censorship should work when porting games to america. [ ]Japanese Explosions [ ] English explosions

>>727600495
Yup 3.11. I just googled the game and one of the top results was a built in dosbox webpage. Going to have to play through the entire game sometime soon.
>>727600488
fucking gay.
this shits a joke.
Instant replay mode so you never have to lose a life ever again! totally rad bru! experience the same games your father did but without the hassle. hell why dont we give you unlimited lives so you know how stupid it is to make a videogame (thats right, videogames arent even called videogames anymore look at the autocorrect. because we all know the only reason you play video games is for the story!
>>727601006
How about MYST... I have a family relationship there.
>>727602632
who cares about lives! instant replay mode so you never have to start over again! gutted the entire game for sales. you deserve to die.
to me this is the last genuine specimen of a classic shooter to be published before the new Doom

I really enjoyed this one and kinda feel like playing it again
