If it was raised to $15 I might not get full-time anymore and would end up making the same per pay period that I do now

yeah but then food and rent will be higher anyway so? you'd gain nothing.

Thanks for restarting. I typed an entire reply and the thread was pruned literally right after.

"It's really not hard to find a decent paying job if you have even the slightest bit of worth ethic and a skill. I'm a cook at Applebee's, sounds shitty, and yeah comparatively it is shitty. But I make that $15 an hour you fantasize about. I've bee with the company exactly 1 year. It was my first full service restaurant job. I've worked in delis and SnS and even Taco Bell. They hired me on at $11.50 and I about jumped at the offer, never having been paid more than $8.50 in previous jobs. I took the opportunity and used it to better myself. I started in dish, learned to work the whole line and eventually prep. They introduced the hand cut bullshit and I was the one chosen to go to the class. Now I'm a certified "neighborhood expert" meaning trainer and am being groomed for management, if I decide to accept. I work 35-45 hours a week and that $15 hour rate.

Because I used the opportunity presented I now have a second job at Texas Roadhouse, a new and thriving company. They hired me as a broil cook/ meat cutter at $13 an hour because I talked the game. It's been 3 months and I'm now at $14 am hour. I'm 23, and started in fast food making $7.75 like any of you crybaby libtards whining about not being able to live off a job for 15 year olds. Difference is I worked for what I believed I was worth, I didn't just demand it."
>>
>>727367398
So you agree everyone's wages should increase in the same fashion or just unskilled, uneducated minimum wage earners?
>>

Rent doesn't have to go up unless the building you live in has to maintain a staff. Prepared Food for sure would go up
>>
>>727367771

if minimum wage raises, EVERY job should raise. case in point: my union fought for years to get us a better hourly wage with the state. They finally gave it to us and then immediately passed minimum wage hikes like 3 months later. so its like i didnt get a raise at all.
>>
>>727367398

I'm work in SF and minimum wage there is like $13/hr and that is the single most expensive place to live in the nation.

if minimum wage goes up then ALL costs go up. its the economy stupid.
>>
>>727367276
That's what I don't get about these tards petitioning for more money. They'll just replace you with robots or migrant workers. Why not petition for cheaper goods and services in your area instead? doesn't really matter I guess, you ain't getting shit you peons
>>
>>727367771
I believe the base level should be raised, and any wages below that new level. Wages above that point are at the discretion of the employer/employee.

It will lead to more people being at minimum wage, but they are all on a liveable wage. It doesn't remove quality of life, only adds to it.

No

I don't think you understand. Increasing the wage by more than double (current minimum wage in most states in 7.25) is going to increase COL as drastically effect inflation. It'll affect apartment rent increasing and the housing market being higher than what it is.

Seriously, small apartments can be rented for as little as 350-400 dollars a month. A cheap eco car will cost roughly 50 on insurance, ~80 dollars on gas, 100-150 ish on food, 80dollars for internet (basic cable is typically given with apartments but if not, who fucking cares when you have internet), ~25 dollars for a cheap phone.
That's 735 a month, and for shits, I'll round it to 800. Even at minimum of 7.25, that's livable. It's tight. But you can make it work if you don't blow your money on stupid shit you can't afford, like
>Muh gtx 1080Ti
>Muh Recaro seats in my Honda Civic

You can live MINIMALISTICALLY on MINIMUM wage. Connect the dots, faggot.

Stop being fucking awful with your money and being a lazy cunt, and you won't have money problems.

Let me put it this way, OP.
I JUST bought a house (I close in mid April) making 10.50 an hour, 80-85 hours every 2 weeks. I bring home about 700 dollars on the dime, and that's after claiming myself on my taxes.
I own a nice house, a used but nice Audi (2011 TT), I don't go hungry, I pay my bills on time, and I still have a margin to play/save with.

You have no excuse, other than wanted to be handed everything
>>

No it shouldn't.

we need to make our money worth something again, not continue to devalue it.
>>
>>727367276
Minimum wage should be close to a liveable wage, which means from working a 40 hour job you should be able to afford rent/mortgage, a car, food and some minor entertainment.
In my area that's $1000 a month for rent, $80 in gas, $80 in car insurance, $100 for health insurance, $350 in food, $100 in utilities and $200 in entertainment, which comes out to $1910 after tax, which is roughly $2300 a month, or roughly 14.37 an hour.

So, probably somewhere near to that, at least in this area.

Some places rent is half that, so minimum wage there could be closer to $12

The entire idea is based on flawed logic.

The truth is that the more money a person makes, the more money that person tends to waste. In the end, it won't make any difference in their lives.. except a negative difference in that they'll waste the money on drugs, junk food, etc.

If they want better, they should have to earn better. Giving people something for nothing is why our country is going to shit.

Current generation is littered with entitled, ignorant, spoiled little dipshits that don't grow up, they grow out.
>>
>>727369550
The relative price increase is something like 3 cents on each item sold per dollar they could pay every single worker after taxes.

They will raise prices, but much much more than that, and then claim "but your minimum wage laws!" and it's 101% bullshit.

That's assuming economics isn't fundamentally breaking as we get so insanely efficient at producing goods per capita. As production costs approach something close to zero, human labor value approaches zero as well, and our society is not set up to handle humans being literally worthless. I just hope our inevitable robot overlords will at least find us moderately interesting/entertaining and let us live.
>>
>>727369818

Actually, prepare for a service-based economy (you know, the one the US has been working to transition to for, oh, I dunno.. 3+ decades now?).

There's a reason your factories are shuttering, your jobs are going overseas, etc. It's part of a plan by individuals who were smart enough to see what you're just now seeing, 40 years ago.

As computers do more, Americans will get lazier and lazier. They'll get unhealthier, and fatter, and be damn near immobilized by various ailments like diabetes.

Someone, who isn't a machine, will need to take care of all those useless, entitled, fat-fucks.

I say we should just link tax brackets to minimum wage, so that the maximum write-offs you can make are a ratio of minimum wage. Raise the minimum wage and raise the write offs. This would create a capitalistic clamoring to find out what the ideal minimum wage is.

Only issue is lobbyists would fight the tax law making this, not fiddle with minimum wage, because rich people are lazy.
>>
>>727370241

There will be no reason to pay anyone for work that will be cheaper and more efficient once automated. That is the direction we have been moving toward. Not everyone is useless. There will be exceptions.

As for expense, the US is migrating toward a socialist system. There's no avoiding it... in 20 years (max) your trucks and cars will be driven by machines, fast-food will be automated, wal-mart will only employ maintenance personnel, etc. Think of the industries that'll rattle: millions of jobs. Gone.

Agreements will be made. A portion of the earnings will become entitlements, checks every American receives simply for being American.

So why will some people still work, when they can sit on their asses and get a check for nothing? Because some people want more from life, some people have dignity and pride, some people aren't useless fucking fat pieces of shit.

First, 15 is too high, and ppl that want it are on drugs.

This story:

Hung out with the wrong crowd when i was in my teens, cant get a great job, have to work 2 lower tier jobs at 80 hours a week, having to take care of my father who cant take care of himself anymore, still making not enough to survive, after all bills are paid, not including food, leaves us with 350 a month for groceries and anything that might come up, car issues ect. >>
>>727371006

That's exactly what I'm saying, you numb motherfucker. The US will become socialist, whether Americans like it or not.

Entitlements. Monthly Checks of profit, shares for every American generated from automation.

In 30 years most Americans will be unemployed, living off of a monthly check. All Americans will be niggers.

Well, not all. Some people have pride, a desire for more, etc.

But most, no doubt.

You'll also have periodic events, probably biological, that'll trim the population. Slowly at first, then rapidly until it reaches a predetermined prime.

It's inevitable with automation. If all those illegal immigrants knew anything about tomorrow, they'd run like hell out of the US, not into it.

There's nothing wrong with it, on paper. The problem is the effects, physically and mentally, on the populace at large.

It will be worse than war. Healthcare will not just go through the roof, it will go to the Moon.

And that's just healthcare.

Humans, for the most part, are lemmings. Most people are useless, zombie-like fuckwits who need a leader/master that gives them purpose.

Without that, psychological waves will wash across populations.. the effects will be horrific. Imagine an America where virtually everyone is a spoiled, psychopathic, ignorant, hateful fuckwit. Impoverished, violent, petty Ted Bundies. 100's of millions of them.

My issues with raising minimum wage

Minimum wage jobs aren't supposed to be careers. They're generally jobs that take no skills. When you work these jobs, you are a body. There is no value. Some people might deal with customers better, but you can easily be replaced.

If you're working an actual skilled job and get paid minimum wage, you're being taken advantage of by your job. You shouldn't be relying on the government to fix something you're allowing happening. Ask to be paid a market rate wage or just gtfo of there.

I feel the majority of people complaining live in the large expensive cities that require higher wages (NYC, LA, San Francisco, etc). The rest of the country, with reasonable costs of living, don't need as big a jump or any jump at all.

$15 for minimum wage would be ridiculous where I live. $15/hr is what people with little/some skilled experience in slightly dangerous fields get. There's no way in hell minimum wage workers deserve to be paid as them.
>>
>>727368927
There is no general minimum wage, instead the companies sign agreements with the unions and these agreements set the minimum level depending on the employee's age and experience. For example, these are the current (February 2016) minimum levels for employees in hotels or restaurants: Age 17: 84,50 sek per hour ($9,94)
>>
Not a single person arguing for lower minimum wage understands the economy

Profit is prior to expense. He's choosing his expense, after profit.

Lets take this one step at a time.
Robots take over the transportation industry, no more truck drivers, no more cabs, no more anything in that realm. Roughly 4,600,000 people will be out of jobs. They will try to join other work forces, and there won't be capacity to handle them. There might be a slight boom in something, but it will be relatively small and shortlived. Unemployment rates will skyrocket, people will go on wellfare. All the meanwhile the rich people will be lobbying government to pay less money, increasing the tax burden on poorer individuals, straining them further economically. More people will be displaced as other job markets disappear to automation, more people leave the work force, less money in the government. Rich people will be greedy niggers and pay less and less, making more and more from robotics and threaten to make the government collapse.

Our government will collapse before rich people wisen up that they need to actually pay taxes. They will strangle us all, keeping their money to themselves as they recend into despotic mini-fortressess.

They could also collude and replace the government. I don't know what that would look like at all.

The real problem is fags like you live in backwater hillbillyville with lots of cheap rent and dumb jobs.

The majority of America lives in much more competitive states with much much higher rents. There are Google employees living out of their cars because the cheapest rent in Palo alto is $2000 a month, a shared house ~$1000 a month. The local fast food employees have an hour commute.
>>
>>727372838
Robots will be made to service robots. You're not thinking this through.
>>
>>727373246
minimum wage workers do deserve higher wages considering their pay generally doesn't increase and the currency inflates.
By the way, arguing for a raise or leaving the company for another usually causes companies to not want to higher and train workers, making it harder for newer workers to get better jobs.

Not to mention that people in lower positions are vital to stimulating the economy.
>>
>>727373687
But robots, man.

>>727373522

It's as if you imagine business and government are two separate entities. You have to be joking.

Still, you got the greed right. That's where the population trimming events come into play.

Once, or twice, a year.. a "new strain of bird flu" or whatever they make will make it's rounds and wipe out 100's of thousands at a time. That's 100's of thousands less entitlements business (read: government) will have to dish out.
>>
>>727367276
minimum wage has way more negatives than positives.

OP should research the topic and it's economic penalties.

Also, why are we wanting to make it more expensive for bottom tier workers to start when technology is on the verge of not needing them anymore, anyways?

If the minimum wage were to be raised to $15/hr, there would be few if any EMTs. Why study your ass off, take the National Registry, learn to deal with hysteric mothers over the death of their children when you can make the same amount of money cleaning up a restaurant lobby from 9-5?

My take on it is this; if the min-wage were to be raised it would hurt for a short period of time before it started recirculating. The working-poor don't tend to hoard their earnings away as much as the upper crust does. What else are we to do with our new found income besides spend it on things that we have been needing. And of course things that we didn't need. And now we can put a better portion away for "retirement" etc etc . Every argument against raising is simply self interest to keep the money at the top. Many billionaires have even come stating that.

If min wage is raised there would be more money in the economy meaning inflation. In Arizona they've raised it and because of that a lot of services from fast food to hair cuts have raised there prices from as low as 25 cents and even more than a dollar. People generally make the same they did before the increase, notably teachers whom already face a teacher shortage are now making the same money for less the buying power of a dollar. All the increase does is make everyone else making more comparatively make less.

>Raises taxes on the rich to boost education funding.
I don't know about Minnesota, but in California spending on education is already ludicrously high. The problem isn't supply, it's what the money is spent on. If Minnesota solved their education problem with taxes, great, but you don't even mention it.

>Raises the minimum wage
Every state raises its minimum wage. This doesn't even mean anything.

>Signs an equal pay law.
OK I take the last one back, it meant very little. THIS doesn't mean anything. The wage gap is a lie.

>State becomes the 5th fastest growing economy.
What was it "before"? What kind of time frame are we talking about here?

Here's an article from last year, Minnesota isn't even top 10.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/states-fastest-growing-economies_us_576449abe4b0853f8bf0ce6e

>Budget became a surplus
You mean raising taxes increased how much money the state had? It still has a debt.

>Economic confidence.
Magical thinking.

This whole thing is literally a string of non-sequitur bullshit. Nothing is even remotely related except taxes= more money, at least short term. And some vague references to utterly meaningless things like surplus, confidence" and boasts devoid of context.

Minnesota's entire population is about 1/8 of California. Basically just L.A. It is certainly subject to wild shifts. If a few thousand people moved into the state it would completely account for everything mentioned positive and have literally nothing to do with the governor.

>EBT cards should only be used for boring, nutritious food, so if you welfare fucks want junk food, get a real fucking job. Stores that allow EBT cards have to put a bright label sticker on foods that pass WIC standards and those are the only ones those on welfare can purchase
>those who make under $30,000 pay no federal taxes period.
>>
>>727389161
That being shouldn't be there.
>>
>>727388540
That ignores demand.

If minimum wage goes up, and restaurants change their prices staggeringly to reflect that, then people won't buy their product.

This is an economic phenomenon called Elasticity of Demand.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elasticity_(economics)

Unless all food everywhere goes up in price the exact same amount, then people will just gravitate to those businesses smart enough to keep their goods cheap. There might be a gradual price increase, sure, but it's not going to literally double overnight just because the very bottom wages doubled overnight.

Businesses would rather cut into their profits than completely fail to make a sale.

And I can't even afford to move out and live in their shithole.
>>
>>727388998
Well, it could be just correlation (hard to prove causation). But put yourself in the position of an employer: Is it likely that you employ somebody with no or little qualification if he costs 20$+? Or is it more likely he finds employment if he only costs 7$???

>>727388972
Locking capital into a bank with low interest rates would be a waste. I'm sure most billionaires have a rainy day vault in Switzerland, but not investing their money means they are not generating new capital, which at these levels of finance is the same as flushing cash down the toilet.

Depends on the value of the work. Filling out spreadsheets isn't hard or complicated, just laborious and tedious, but data entry typically makes almost $20 an hour.

Companies are constantly downsizing and staggering wages (bi-weekly pay wasn't a thing 20 years ago) and reducing benefits quality not because they're struggling to pay decent wages, but because they're trying to maximize profits.

For example: The 2015 Annual Report for Walmart Inc. cited 480 billion in sales, 220 billion in total costs and expenses, including company wages, expansion, taxes, depreciation of assets, distribution, etc. $260 billion in profit, and the starting salary in most states for a Walmart employee is a little over $8. The duties of a floor employee are sales, cleaning, stocking, customer service, security, and money-handling at a minimum. Does that seem fair?

Society doesn't have an obligation to cater to some "precious graduates" because they chose a career path with no future. That's why everyone thinks this young generation is full of entitled fucktards. There are plenty of chances for advancement in fields like construction, trades, mechanics etc., you faggots just don't want to do that shit or thinks it's below you for some reason and you choose some other dumbass degree that has no demand. Yes wages need to mirror cost of living increases but the thing is, the COL is what needs to go down. As things stand, the transportation and creation of goods is far easier in this new age and the increase in price is simply to gain ever larger profit margins over taxes along with the creation cost. You can't chock everything up to R&D when you aren't producing results.

>BUT CHEEZ BURGRS'LL COST $999999

It's well known how minuscule the price increases would have to be for various businesses to make up their employee's new wages.
There have been plenty of minimum wage increases all across the U.S. however, but they show no correlation to an increase in inflation.

>THEY TOOK ER JABBBZ!!!

The hypothetical and overused supply and demand argument doesn't account for the increased economic activity caused by more consumer spending.
It's not enough to just throw this talking point around all the time, minimum wage increases in the U.S. actually have to cause more unemployment in real life before I can take you seriously.

>DEN THEYL HIRE ROBOBAWTS

Jobs have always been taken by robots. Maybe if we made the minimum wage small enough there'd be more people scrubbing your windshield with a dirty sponge for 10 cents as opposed to there being carwashes, but whether we keep increasing it or let wages stay stagnant, the service sector is coming for our labor. Seems to me like if you have a cap on a company's ability to hold liquid capital based on the number of employees, then anything exceeding that cap would automatically either get routed back into the business itself to expand employment opportunities (lowers unemployment) or to increasing wages/offering bonuses/offering benefits.

So if a company has 50 or fewer employees, cap at $10 million in liquid assets.

If a company has less than 100 but more than 50 employees, cap at $50 million in liquid assets.

If a company has less than 1000 employees, cap at $500 million in liquid assets.

If a company has less than 10000 employees, cap at $50 billion in liquid assets.

If a company has less than 100000 employees, cap at $100 billion in liquid assets.

If a company has more than 100000 employees, cap at $150 billion in liquid assets.

Walmart has about 2.1 million employees, making on average about $25000 per year. How much would their wages go up, per person, if ~100 billion of the company's profits were reinvested into the people that support the company?

Assuming it was divided evenly, it would be about $40,000 to every employee every year.

There have been plenty of minimum wage increases all across the U.S. however, but they show no correlation to an increase in inflation.

Even a $5 increase would sink most mom & pop restaurants. Paying 10 employees $5 more per hour for a 10 hour work day equates to paying out $500 more PER DAY. That's $15,000 PER MONTH which is $180,000 PER YEAR. Do you know how many small businesses with 10 or more employees would go out of business?

If you have a small team of employees, and you value their work, pay them decently but not so much that you can't grow.

The problem with minimum wage isn't when a small family owned business is shitting on their employees, it's when a giant megolith of a company is shitting on their employees. If you have a company with 150,000 minimum wage workers that you COULD be paying more (because you have the resources to hire 150,000 people, you're probably rolling in money) but don't in order to offer higher executive benefits and shareholder payouts, then you become a problem for the entire economy.

You're not accounting for complications that impair productivity, and you're assuming people are all starting from scratch. The thing you're pounding your chest about now is an entry level cook job you got as an 18 year old. That's not gonna help a 40 year old family man who's lost his job and is back on the market.

You also seem to assume that poverty is a choice. People generally don't choose to be poor. They might not be on their A game but there's usually a reason, injury or depression are pretty common causes. You can jump up and down about how that's their loss and not your problem, or about how being as fantastic as you are you're convinced that if -you- were stricken with mental issues you could just sweep it aside with the raw weight of your powerful ego. Fact is at the end of the day you can either embrace the fallout of these problems, or you can address the productivity issue and try to actually remove the problem. Before you start blowing the alt-right airhorn about how that's liberal sympathy, there's a difference between a donation and an investment. An investment implies a return. Getting these people in ship shape is plainly the most profitable course of action.

Ffs they are filling kids' heads with literal shit these days in public school it seems. My nigga i have split over a dozen parties just in the last two months
>>
>>727391756
>wow all that red herring

Please just raise the minimum wage to at least 100$/hour. The resulting economic disaster will close the debate for at least the next 50 years.

But buhuhuhu...morals, unfair, whatever. Stop crying morons.

>>727391650
Yeah competition between countries who were in the middle of a cold war. You're advocating for a civil war in our country where we pit everyone against everyone and whoevers not lucky can just die.
>>
>>727391974
Corporations are small businesses, according to US law

How about changing those laws so we can protect actual small business
>>
>>727391112
If a 5$ increase would sink your restaurant, you have much bigger problems. The business is already failing and is clearly too close to the edge for you to be taking on more payroll employees than you can afford. Yes, if you allow them to transfer this burden onto their employees and allow a consensus on slashing salaries, sure they can hire a greater volume. They could hire an even greater volume if you allowed them to establish a $1.15/hr market norm. However I feel like this isn't how you see this playing out. The reason I see you sophie's choicing ethnicities is because you're convinced your wages will rise after you thin out the numbers. I'm gonna need you to pick a lane.

right-o faggot. our apple pie costs $7 to make and we sell it for $10.99 whole and $2.99 a slice (6 slices). 4 customers complain about their pie after they eat their meal and the pie. how much money is lost giving them each another slice? how much more money is lost when the manager comps their meal cause they are whiny bitches and threaten to complain to the regional manager (who just gives out free meal and pie coups to calm autistic faggots).

you dont even know how to bake a fucking pie let alone run a business. so do yourself a favor and piss off bitch

Large businesses have the capital and pull to effect the broader economy and the political landscape. They have literally nothing in common with "small businesses" except that they are both called "businesses."

If you are actually comparing a lemonade stand to the Coca Cola company, then there is something seriously wrong with your mind.

I am not your dad. Your tantrum does not affect me nor will I help you after it leaves you fiscally barren.

Minimum wage increases will just cause EVERY business to either cut their employees, or reprice their merchandise, or both.

Small businesses or no exception. If minimum wage increases sink your business, your business was either already going under or you're a bad businessman.

Regardless, it won't last. Corporations won't allow it. They're already trying to fight it in my state, and it's been less than a year. Only reason it hasn't been repealed is because the judge refuses to even hear them out.

Please explain?
How can you not find a job due to the wage?

7 bucks covers ingredients and like quarter of a manhour.

Yes, well, that's another problem entirely.

I do kinda feel bad for the astronauts though. Not sure what would take them first, lack of food/water or lack of oxygen.

How the hell does an apple pie cost $7 to make?

A big ass bag full of apples is $4. Much cheaper if you buy in a larger volume, like a barrel.

A pound of sugar is $4.

Pie crust is, all ingredients combined, about $2 per pound. So let's say $4.

And electricity is 12 cents per kilowatt in most states, and running a high capacity high efficiency oven for 45 minutes doesn't cost more than $5.

And labor is let's say $15 an hour.

With that volume of ingredients you could make maybe 10 pies, at a cumulative cost of around $30 per batch in labor, ingredients, and processing. That's $3 per pie.

If you've got 10 apple pies coming out of that oven every 45 minutes and selling them for $11 apop, you're doing fine.

So are you using fucking saffron in your pies, or what?
>>
>>727392032
The only people advocating for a civil war are you poor faggots calling to "put the mean rich people against the wall because they're greedy." I never said anything that even remotely called for civil war or advocating killing anyone or "just letting people die." You're a fucking moron and all you faggots have is strawman arguments that don't make one bit of sense.
>>
>>727392505
we're all working toward the same goal, we just do not see the consequences of our grim determination to compete ourselves into utopia
>>
>>727392628
You just answered your own question by landing on $4 material cost and $15/hr manpower, with about 12 minutes of active involvement spread out over the cooking process for that particular pie.
>>
>>727392382
shit lemme see you buy enough apples, sugar, flour, vanilla, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and half a dozen other ingredients and have the total cost per pie be be $1.

you must make some shitty ass pie
>>
>>727392706
Go jonestown yourself somewhere it doesn't bother me.
>>
>>727392736
Pretty sure my math determined that to be $3 per pie. Not $7.

>tfw society will never collapse in your lifetime, allowing you to live out your fantasies of just taking what you need from people who can't defend themselves against your banditry, with no one to punish you
>>
>>727392628
And there lies the problem. Who are you to say what's "doing fine" for a private business? The goal is to maximize profit. You want to regulate businesses when it benefits you "Oh, you're doing fine, no reason to raise your prices." or "You have to give me $15/hr minimum wage, fuck market forces and everything else." but at the same time you useless faggots complain that big greedy businesses push for regulations that benefit them and think it's wrong or "evil" that they do that. You're fucking hypocrites which is why no one takes you uneducated minimum wage dweebs seriously. Now go get me another coffee, loser.
>>
>>727392614
Because everyone with a differing opinion doesnt care. Whereas you care so much that you are willing to force ppl into what you think is right. Because you are right, right? Fuck you.
>>
>>727392706
Global warming is already fucked anyway.

The only way anything is going to ever change is if we cause ACTUAL CHANGE in our government.

But as poor people in a capitalist society, that's impossible. We're not the protected class. We're the exploited one.
>>
lol at basement dwelling neets trying to price out a hypothetical pie store to illustrate the macroeconomic implications of a hypothetical wage increase
>>
>>727392813
That's $3 labor + $4 materials makes $7 production cost.
>>
>>727392813
WAIT A TIC, DID YOU FORGET THAT YOU HAVE TO PAY YOUR EMPLOYEES $15 AN HOUR WITH YOUR $3 PER WHOLE PIE SALE??????????????????????????????????
>>
>>727392758
Apples: Cheap as fuck
Sugar: Cheap as fuck
Flour: VERY cheap as fuck
Vanilla: Kinda pricey by volume, but you only need a very small amount for pie, so ultimately cheap as fuck
Cinnamon: Same as vanilla, slightly more expensive in usage, but still relatively cheap as fuck.
Ginger: Only a small amount used, cheap as fuck
Nutmeg: Only a small amount used, cheap as fuck
Half dozen other ingredients: What, eggs? Shortening? Baking powder? CHEAP AS FUCK if you buy in large volumes.

A single person, making a single pie, I could see it costing around $7.

A BAKERY making pies ALL FUCKING DAY would be retarded if their pies cost $7 to make.
>>
>>727388801
Statistics 101 correlation doesn't equal causation. That graph shows the spike right after the great recession.
>>
>>727392758
Well if I was in the business of selling pies and buying my ingredients in bulk the cost probably would be a little over a dollar per pie. Ginger? Nutmeg? A half dozen other ingredients? What kinda apple pies are you bakin?
>>
>>727392973
You misread.

Labor + Ingredients = $30 for a batch of 10. That's $3 production cost.
