not that guy, but rogue one is trash. it's not an action movie, it's not a heist movie, it's not even really a star wars movie... it's just a shitty little script someone tried to fill in all the boxes on.

Stop shilling rogue one. It wasn't impressive by any means. It's was a chore to watch the only redeemable part was the last 15 minutes when Vader slaughtered all the rebels.
>>
>>727369752
Agreed.

Original Star Wars movies (and all the new ones) are utter trash. The scripts are horrid, the acting is abysmal, and Lucas has just proceeded to constantly make them worse and worse over time.

The new reboot/remake "let's make the guy the girl and toss in a nigger" thing was just unfuckingwatchable garbage. "Well if it's a Death star it must have a power reactor!" *Bruckheimer*

Kill me.

Superhero faggotry.

Avengers, Thor, Iron Man, all that fucking trash.

I actually love comics but the superhero/powers thing has to fuck off and die already. They're always giving comics a shitty image and things like Transmetropolitan deserve more attention which they don't get because of FUCKING SUPERHERO FAGS.
>>
>>727370743
I saw it in IMAX 3D when it came out because I thought it seemed like a neat movie (and I wasn't the one paying, thankfully). It was awful, and I'd seen movies with much MUCH better 3D. Mostly the 3D only gave it depth, nothing popped or seemed like it was floating near you or anything.

TFA may have basically been a remake of Star Wars, but it was fucking good. It was fun as hell and had good characters and good writing (for the most part) and good directing and good pacing.
Rogue One was an objectively terrible movie, and the fact that it was supposed to be a Star Wars movie made it even worse. Horrible writing, horrible directing, horrible pacing, horrible characters. Everything about it was shit.
And trust me I went into it excited and optimistic, but by the end I couldn't deny the fact that it sucked dick.

Well, the synopsis of a movie tells what the movie is about. So... it's kind of a fair thing to judge the movie on?
But I'll go watch those movies. I don't have netflix though, so I'll probably end up having to torrent them or some shit. But I will give them a chance.
Actually, netflix seems to be coming out with some decent shit. I saw a trailer for a movie that seemed really funny, called "I don't feel at home on this planet anymore" or something similar.
>>
It's sad when Hancock was legitimately the best superhero movie and most interesting character of all of them.

All they did is make him an alcoholic and it gave him 100 times more "depth" than any superhero there's ever been. Brilliant.

Seriously, it's getting so bad. I keep watching these new movies that come out, all the popular shit, and they all keep getting worse and worse. I watched X-Men apocalypse, Suicide Squad, and Dr. Strange last week, and they are all so fucking terrible. And this is coming from somebody who loved superhero movies so much when they first started getting good. The original Spiderman movie was like fucking incredible to me, and X-men and Iron Man. But it's mostly gone to shit. Deadpool and Guardians of the Galaxy were the last really good comic books movies, although I haven't seen Logan yet and I hear that's really good.

>>
>>727372504
I haven't really seen that many comic hero movies, but to be honest marvel/DC shit never interested me even as a kid. So it would stand to reason that I still wouldn't be interested. Growing up I was more of a weeb than a standard american comic book hero kid.
But yeah, I don't like the direction movies are taking. NOW AND THEN I'll find something that seems interesting, and there are a few recent movies that I even think are really hilarious or deep. (The Fundamentals of Caring was some funny shit)
But it's hard to see how any of the newer generation's movies are gonna be anything other than shit.
>>
>>727370348
this first was great and well ahead of it's time. It still holds up after 40 yrs, It's not always about the script with movies like this, it's more about the special effects, action, costumes ect.

I've been trying to decide if that's worth watching since I keep seeing it on Netflix. I'll check it out since you recommend it. I definitely find most of the really good movies on Netflix now, just random stuff I've never heard of, sometimes stuff that wasn't even in theaters.
Popular movies are in the same boat as popular music today. I don't know what it is, if this generation just has fucking terrible taste or what, but yeah, it's a bummer.

I don't see how people can say that Star Wars was about the special effects and how it still holds up etc etc when you look at adjacent films.

2001 was made 9 years earlier than star wars and the special effects are LIGHT YEARS ahead of that movie. 2001 is still relevant. Watch 2001 then watch Passengers (also garbage btw) but the shots of the ship w/ all the curves and the music in space etc...directly from 2001.

Same w/ Star Trek the motion picture was 1979. No one talks about the effects in there vs star wars. It's all the same crap. Star Wars and original series star trek look dated.

Add a memorable and slightly annoying sound for effect (Jason's breathing, Michael Myers' chchchch thing, etc)
>>
>>727375146
Yeah. I'm actually a big Tarantino fan due to the occasional redeeming scenes. But fucking shit man, some of his scenes just make me want to laugh at why he bothered to include that.

Example: Pulp Fiction
Jules and Vincent
Excellent dialog whenever they're together, along with many other cast combinations. The conversation feels real like something you would overhear in the real world, but with a sick twist to it. Every word is intentional to make the viewer feel both at ease and alarmed, and Tarantino pulls it off with mastery

But then there's his dumb fucking scene in the kitchen with his coffee. He's the least charismatic fuck to ever walk the earth, and should stay behind the camera.

Example 2: Kill Bill
...No actually besides the action scenes, the dialogue was shit. 2 had some OK shots with Bill and Beatrix though

Last Example (and the best): Inglourious Basterds
Best moments: Hans Landa or Archie Cox's dialogue. Excellent in building suspense and discomfort, while somehow maintaining both a quiet and distortingly peaceful conversation.
Bad moments: Goofy bullshit Brad Pitt.

it reflects good on the director and everyone involved in the movie, but really what sustenance does it prove/provide? "Hey, they did a pretty good job, that's something you don't see in film very often" It makes you remember the movie, but then what?

As someone who read the original comic the movie sucked so hard, at least I didn't pay to see it.
No wonder /tv/ liked it they don't know any language besides irony

It was nice for what it was, but I don't think it deserved all the praise that it did get. I went into it expecting it to be like Harvey Birdman and that's what I got.

Plus, it was nice seeing Michael Keaton working again.

>Deadpool
and Capt America: Winter soldier
would of been decent if they weren't deliberately trying to corrupt todays youth
>National Pegging Day
>ScarJo says "hurr its ok to betray ur morals and beliefs, capt...."

Suspense. Movie magic. More suspense on account of unpredictability. He tried to be a calm Jedi and look how that turned out. I'm not seeing any narrative.

Dr strange yes, it was terrible
Deadpool, while I enjoyed it because the humor was mostly fucking hilarious and the action was mostly fucking badass, I can see why people could dislike it. Some of it was a little cringey/tryhard

That doesn't change the fact that "era in time" is an idiotic nigger tier phrase to use.
>>
>>727378466
Look I can suspend disbelief if that is how the movie is set up...but when the rest of the movie has a real world feel then something like this sticks out like a sore thumb and completely ruins it

baahahahha thank you anon, I was just about to make the same point

You don't have many friends do you?

>No technology whatsoever
>No sense of entertainment (you saw them playing soccer, but only in the human camp)
>Still threatened by animals in the jungle

Yeah, sorry, I'd rather spend my time relaxing in orbit above that shithole

It's your kind of retarded bullshit that's holding us back. You and the religious morons. Fuck off and die and let the rest of us move on in a more rapid fashion.

Did you see it while high?

Nah, if they had any sense their answer would be Reservoir Dogs. I disagree with him on Jackie Brown being good though. It's his second worst movie behind Death Proof.

McAvoy was brilliant in Split

I was very disappointed that they made Captain Boomerang PC. He's a racist, not a fucking chummy brony. They neutered my Aussie.

Also, that movie got really good reviews because people were giving it great reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB before it came out.

I dont get why all my friends think that deadpool is funny. The humor is as stupid and infantile. Beside that i dont like ghostbusters but i get why others like it

No. No I do not.

The amount of plot holes in this movie is incredible. The fact it got such high ratings is beyond me
