Are you upset? I mean I think about death sometimes and I don't care either way. Like I once had a guy put a gun to my head on the street and my first feeling was "Finally..." Kinda surprised me. I feel like life is an ordeal we have to get through, like laundry or going to see family on holidays, and that I'll be glad when it's over. Not that I believe in anything. Just seems like a whole lot of trouble for a tiny reward. But maybe a slow death realigns your perceptions

I'm kinda upset, I guess you could say I "had a whole life ahead of me". Kinda wanted to see how it played out but it's not like my life was perfect either. Im just trying to wrap my head around the fact that once I die, whatever is there is for fucking ever. Like with no end...it scares me
>>
>>727364961
Well I mean, you plunge into the void. People who die and come back don't seem to describe it as terrible. It's like how it was before you were born, just senseless nothingness. Everyone becomes equal in the end.

We live on in a way by how we interacted with others, or as part of the ecosystem of the earth or something, but hopefully you're not worried about an afterlife, seems kinda silly to me personally. But if you are, you can just ask for forgiveness now, I guess.

I always kinda suspected that this world or this experience or whatever was a prison of sorts, because the rich and poor, young and old all suffer, there is no escape, no answers, no sense to all of it, and the good die young, so it's kinda like their sentence is shorter or something and they are getting released.

But in the end, think of the trillions who went before you, we all got to do it sooner or later.
>>
Lost someone close to me from sepsis, how bad is going septic? They say the more healthy you were prior to getting it, the more lethal it is, hence why they couldn't save Muhammad Ali.
>>
>>727366828
>Muhammad Ali
HE DIED?!
>>
>>727366996
Oh, shit, didn't mean to spoil the ending for you...
>>
>>727365620

It's what I've always wondered. (Not OP btw).

Nothingness is still something, in fact the people who describe it as being dark doesn't make too much sense. Because they're processing the fact it's dark during death.. Odd.
>>
>>727367524
I know somebody who died and was brought back after 4 minutes, he didn't perceive any time loss. It's pretty interesting.
>>
Well the human mind, as part of the body, creates a sense-based reality, perceives the moment of this reality as time, and defines itself by its own growth and limitations, etc. But all of these things have no actual reality. They are opinions/sensations/etc. formed from the date sent to the mind by the sense organs. Nothing more.

So when the body dies, and with it the mind, this entire sense-based reality fades, and then ends forever. There will be no part of us left to perceive nothingness. What the people who die and come back are perceiving seems to just be the brain being deprived of oxygen and fading away, only to be jolted back suddenly.

The mind is a tricky thing that can make us think we are furries or that god is talking to us or that David Letterman is speaking to us in code through the TV, so it's not surprising that when the brain itself is dying and being deprived of oxygen, it might create some shenanigans. But it's like a dream, it has no reality. Without the body feeding the brain/mind, we simply end, and it happens so fast we don't get to say, "Holy shit, I just ended". So I think it will be pretty simple to face. We might even say "THIS is what all the fuss is over?"
>>
>>727368270

Yeah, the final release of DMT gives these effects.

However this doesn't explain the few cases where patients are able to explain what's happening outside their body in the hospital room.

It'd be nice if the brain put us in an environment during death where time is extremely slow on the outside, but on the inside in lala land you can live for years until outside time slowly catches up.
>>
>>727368953
I just think the mind continues recording in these traumatic states and the imagination or whatever takes up the slack, and you get some dissociation or something.

I can be dreaming and hear something in the waking world and incorporate it into the dream. For example an alarm sounds in the waking world and in my dream I see a siren going off for a long moment before waking.

I just don't buy that people actually come out of their body and somehow their personality is preserved as they look down. Mainly because people who suffer head injuries suddenly have completely different personalities. If the real "you" wasn't in the meat of the brain but was a spirit or something instead, getting shot in the head wouldn't fundamentally change it.

If you take the whole "patients looking down on their own bodies" as fact and not some kind of disassociation or something, you have to begin wondering about souls and spirits and gods and religions and all that, which we've been doing for thousands of years without a single shred of proof. So I would try and avoid that.
>>
>>727369612

Yeah, but again these were rare cases and to be honest I don't even think they were properly documented.

In terms of your personality changing, that argument could be backed up with the fact the brain is merely a host/meat suit that some form of energy takes over. But that isn't 100% of course since we don't actually know if the soul exists (no evidence as you said), but it's certainly a counter argument. If your brain doesn't have the power to process the information given, then things might just end up jumbled and totally out of personality.
>>
>>727370099
Pretty big stretch
>>
>>727370213

Yeah, sort of is. More logical than the religion argument though. God doesn't have to be a good being because some book says so. Hell the idea of the soul existing doesn't really need a God at all.
>>
>>727363418
how'd you even get sepsis?
>>
>>727370371
I mean, the idea that our bodies are meat suits for a soul really begs a million questions. What's the point. I typically try and avoid answers to questions that raise ten more other questions.

If the idea was true, the reasoning behind it wouldn't make sense at all. It could just be that this 'soul' or the 'energy' has to latch on to some sort of biological creature capable of housing it until it wears out and dies.

If we abandon logic and a healthy dose of skepticism, we could end up believing all kinds of things. Like leprechauns carry the soul energy in a bucket and dump into babies brains, and stuff like that. Because there's exactly as much evidence for leprechauns with bucks as there is for "soul energy latching onto biological creatures", which is coincidentally, exactly what Scientology believes.

I kekd

Leprechauns don't exist?

Yeah, I regret using that example now anon :(. Didn't even know what Scientology believes. Goes to show how simple it was thinking of it though.

treated a lady once who shot up some heroin, then decided she wanted to save some for later so she drew some blood into a syringe and put it in the fridge. Then she re-injected it into herself a few days later. Needless to say, she was fucked.

I recommend smoking pot and ice.
Best case scenario: the pot helps out somehow.
Worst case scenario: you don't have to worry about the lung damage and when you die, you're already gone anyway and probably happy for it.

These. Go out in a blast of ecstasy instead of hooked up to machines as the death around you eats away at what's left of your vitality.
