I was stating that quantum mechanics is so foreign to the human perception of reality that we will likely never be able to fully comprehend it. That which we do not yet know about the laws at work in the quantum scale is likely to be as weird and incomprehensible as that which we already know and do not understand. I was comparing the laws that govern the quantum scale to that of an entirely different universe where physics is fundamentally different in every way.

tl;dr I was saying quantum mechanics is confusing.

Well when antimatter is created in a particle accelerator when a proton is moving say .95c, it experiences time dilation so it's observable before it decays immediately so I don't see why a particle moving at c (a photon) wouldn't experience time dilation.

I was giving an answer according to an equation. The interpretation you're using does work within the mathematic framework of the answer I got from the Lorentz transformation. If a photon experiences no time pass when traveling up to an infinite distance then it could be surmised that the photon experiences no time at all.

the photon will "see" the sun traveling backwards and the earth coming closer, both at the speed of light.
>>
>>726166604
>I said no one now fully understands quantum mechanics

Well that's idiotic. Classical QM is a complete theory, as is QED which incorporates special relativity. There are still new insights that very occasionally get made, as there are even in classical mechanics, but those who know and work with these theories regularly and who are also in touch with the experimental and teaching side are definitely in the "fully-understanding" business.

General relativity, color, and chaos are among the areas that still are incomplete in QM, but if you're holding that as a standard then we will never fully understand classical mechanics or basic addition either.
>>
>>726167593
Effective mass isn't "real" mass. It has a mass if you calculate based on the fact that it has a momentum, but its not as if you actually measure it because in a "real" sense it has no mass, only momentum.
>>
Has anyone ever wondered why the speed of light is the number that it is? And I none of that string theory BS.
I'm not a physicist but could it be thought of as the photon has no mass at rest and then as it accelerates towards the "speed of light" it gains mass and reaches that unpassable barrier that is the speed limit of the universe?
>>

>Classical QM is a complete theory

No, it's not, and it's not on completely mathematical grounds.

When you have a collapse of the wave function, you need new initial conditions to know the new propagator completely. Those initial conditions are constrained by the spectrum of the operator, to be sure, but the new initial conditions are not contained within the original initial conditions.

You can call this "complete" as a stochastic theory, but now you're in a whole other discussion about whether any stochastic theory can ever be considered complete.

Light is very fucking weird. I honestly don't know any other way to put it other than light doesn't have enough energy to have mass. And to be more precise, I think its mass is imaginary.

ok times up on the magnetic iron question.
answer is iron has electron orbital configuration which leaves one orbital always half full, so its election can orient itself with magnetic fields without its partner canceling its orientation. the atom moves in space and its rouge electron produces its own field due to its orientation. this accelerates the iron, ego magnetism.

Not OP, but it's because gravity is measure of the acceleration we experience due to gravity. On earth we experience a force as though the ground below our feet is accelerating upwards at 9.8 meters/second per second. None of this is correct.

p=mv is correct in classical mechanics. In special relativity, E^2 = m^2 c^4 + p^2 c^2. In QM, the energy of an oscillating particle looks like E=h f, where f is the frequency.

So light is massless (m=0), so E^2 = (h f)^2 = p^2 c^2, or p = h f / c

It has nothing to do with how much energy the photon has or doesn't have. A photon's mass is zero -- not negative or imaginary. For that matter, a tachyon's mass in current QFT models is also not imaginary, even though naive algebra with the classical formulas will get you that.

How about the combustion engine. That certainty doesn't seem to work in any way similar to nature. Nature has these "loop systems" where something is used, transformed into another thing, used again, re-transformed into the original thing. One example is trees and people. Trees make oxygen, people breathe said oxygen, produce carbon dioxide, trees use the carbon dioxide and again produce oxygen.
My point being that combustion engines don't work naturally at all. Shouldn't we have something that run electromagnetically by now that is powered by its own "loop system?"

Your thoughts?
