This is actually a pretty good album. It'd be a great album if they ditched Shadows, he's dragging them down. Very little dynamic to his vocals, and the vocal chords themselves sound like they were exposed to mustard gas. Great drumming, much more complex/progressive songwriting than any of their previous records.

I love FMtS too, but The Link is their most distinctive work to me. It's when they perfected that tribal sound they were going for in their debut, and it has some of their beefiest riffs to date. Joe's vocals were also a lot more brooding and dynamic, I think he smoked too much after it. Happens to a lot of front men. Production also sounded better to me, much better than FMtS, where it's Loudness War galore. Distorted their riffs way too much.
