Why is the SD9VE such a piece of shit?
Can't even break it down to clean it. And why is the trigger like 8 lbs?! Never been so glad to sell a pistol and be rid of it.

Its easy to break down just like a Glock. user error

The first gen triggers are awful due to a heavier trigger spring. The new ones arent all that bad for a budget gun. Over all they still run fine if you take care of them.

Well over built for a good price. Some of the best custom AKs are built off of those platforms. I personally own the newest series of Vepr.

I have Beretta 92s, but thats as close as you can get unless you want to fight with people over one on Gun Broker. If you have to have one, hit up GB and start bidding. If you can wait, don't expect a gun shop to have one. Typically older guns are just brought in from customers and sold to the shop. Collector items typically just end up on gun broker anyways.

>>725660691
$30 and for multiple transfers, its only $10 per additional item.

>>725660955
$100 trade in. Probably $80 cash.
.40s are a dying breed and its from a budget brand. I would probably sell it for less than $200 just to move it, otherwise it will just sit.

Everyone knows that most guns never sell for their listed MSRP but what is the usual process you pay for a gun that has say a $1000 MSRP (for a round number) vs what you charge for it. Does it offend you if a frequent customer haggles with you?
>>
>>725661547
I ask because my go to method with my local gunshop is to see what they have, fine exactly what they have new on gunbroker for way cheaper, then call them to set up a transfer and negotiate a lower price than both. i want to carry a .45 acp but i've been told by many people that they're just too awkward to carry so that i should carry a 9mm instead. i've been to the range and shot multiple .45 and 9mm guns. i love shooting the .45 but i don't have the money to buy a 9mm carry and a .45 for fun. thoughts on what i should get? getting my LTC in a month or two btw.

>>725661204
.22s arent as reliable as most center fire pistols. You can find reliable .22s out there but expect the occasional jam and failure to fire. For a .22, that firearm is a good one. If youre looking for something for defense, go for a 9mm. Good for defense and cheap to shoot.

>>725661246
We try to but they are hard to get ahold of right now.

Most do, but some brands have crazy high MSRP such as Ruger. Typically we try to make 20-25% off a a firearm. We dont haggle but we give discounts on ammo and accessories with a gun purchase.

>>
>>725662998
Get a 9mm or .380. The pistol itself is the concern and not so much the caliber. Pocket guns tend to be very snappy and are not good picks for new shooters and carriers.

A glock 42 is a great pick for a .380, and for 9mm, go with a Shield or a G43

1 - Drunk guy came in, wanted to buy a gun. He drove so we stalled him while another employee contacted the police. Got his ID and asked him to fill out the 4473...hands it back to me and says"yep looks good to me". Guy was blasted out of his mind and probably on something else. Sensed something was up and split before the cops came

2 - guy shouldered a sig brace, got busted for an unlawful SBR. Second incident I heard of with people getting pinched for it.

3 - spent hours touching everything, bought nothing. Finally came back weeks later to purchase only to talk about illegal shit upon check out and kept pushing for the warranty to cover stolen guns.

No OP, but I'd recommend a Ruger MKIV Hunter.
They have improved take-down on the MKIV series pistols, and the Hunter looks damn sexy.
Since you will just be target shooting, .22lr will be an excellent caliber for you since it is low recoil and the cheapest thing you can get. I would recommend the Federal 40gr lead round nose target ammo. They feed well in semi-autos and I have found them to be much more accurate than the 36gr hollow point stuff.

Caliber doesnt equate to a pistol being too awkward to carry. Size and weight effect that. If you shoot your .45 well and can afford to practice often with that round, go for it as long as the fun carries comfortably for you. I personally carry a 9mm, but it is a full size which will be harder to carry than a compact .45. Ignore the caliber at first and focus on the size and feel of the pistol. When in doubt, hold it and try it on.

What pistol did you have in mind for a .45?

>>725663993
There is no "starter gun". Your first one can last you the rest of your life time.

If its just target shooting, get a full size 9mm or .22 pistol. For a .22, the Ruger 22/45 or Mark series is great for customization and reliability. For a 9mm...
Glock 17
S&W M&P9
CZ75
Canik TP9
Beretta M9/92
and plenty more

>>725664260
Start him out with a .22 for fundamentals and cheap shooting.

Go for a pistol and a rifle as they both shoot differently.

Not to say 9mm or .45 are bad starter calibers, but it gets pricey for someone to learn on. You can buy 3-4 boxes of .22 for ever 1 box of 9mm.

well idk man you got 115gr of bullet compared to 50gr of bullet, and the slower fps of 9mm means its going to put more energy into the barrier it passes though and less energy into exploding itself, like the 5.56 will.
im no ballistics expert but i would guess that they don't really compare in terms of penetration when your talking about light weight 5.56, less than 50gr.

hollow point or not 9mm penetrates a lot and flat head bullets can penetrate some things better than round nose, for instance flat nose .45 can penetrate some body armor at close range where usually RN wont.

Not OP, but I can answer your question.
Mary-jane is still regulated at the federal level, so even though you are using marijuana legally within the state of California, you are legally ineligible to purchase a firearm from an FFL. This is because you MUST check the "user of illicit drugs" on the 4473, which automatically denies you a transfer. If you lie on the 4473, you will face harsh punishments for perjury on a federal document.
>>
>>725671988
I would just say no to the question.
>>
>>725671691
You are a regular user r you aren't. If you are found with a gun and marijuana, you will likely face felony charges and spending on who busts you, you may be charged in federal court. Marijuana is still illegal federally no matter what your state / city says. I personally don't care, but if you get caught, don't fuss about it.

hollow points expand which rob them of energy to over penetrate. Flat nose FMJs don't make much of a difference in energy delivery. Typically bullets are flat to keep over all cartridge length down while increasing bullet weight. Most defensive 9mm hollow points are not that light.

At the end of the day a standard 5.56 and a 9mm 124gr hollow point get the job done. Shot placement is everything no matter what bullet you send down range.

>>725672460

you can get shot in the arm and die of complications days later. The goal is to put the bullets in effective places to stop the threat immediately.

Police use and civilian defense use are 2 different things. Civilians are not likely to have to take a hostage shot. Not every target is the same either. A round that may under penetrate one aggressor may over penetrate another.

>>725674113
Any old firearm with questionable maintenance. As far as heavy recoiling guns, it takes a couple shots to get used to, but afterward, you're fine. Anything with a lot of recoil is not recommended for a new shooter which may seem intimidating to most new shooters. Recoil pads are your friend in these cases. Even if a large caliber rifle doesn't cause me to flinch, I still prefer less impact to my shoulder.

>>725674284
Depends, what is your intended use for the pistol?

>>725673972
You have a few choices of what rounds you can shoot...but there are plenty of other better performing cartridges that are easier to find for less cost. Its a fine defensive cartridge for a revolver as long as you can afford to practice often with it.

>>

>>
>>725675242
Domestic violence is a federal prohibition and does not matter if it was 9 years ago or 50 years ago. You cannot legally posses a firearm or ammunition unless its expunged from your record.

If you attempt to buy a gun from a dealer and answer the question truthfully, you will be denied. If you lie, you will be denied as well and the information will be found out by the ATF and will likely face future charges.

Get it expunged. Attempting to get a firearm before then will only end in further legal trouble.

>>725675525
The G43 is fine but for something slightly bigger with 2 more rounds, I recommend the M&P Shield.
>>
>>725675868

>>
>>725659160

>>
>>725676133
correct. perfectly legal to still do private sales unless your a felon or on probation or something.
>>
>>725676133
Depends on the state for private transactions. Guns shows often have many federal dealers which are required to have you fill a 4473 and run a check unless exempt with proper licensing.

Either way, if found with the firearm, you will face felony charges. Domestic violence is typically a misdemeanor which can easily be dropped off of your record given the time passed as long as you aren't getting into trouble.

The expungement is going to cost you a lot less than a felony charge for being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. Just get it off your record so you can buy and own guns legally.

Half the time they end up placing the order and I toss in free next day shipping, its worth the $25 loss since its an item that doesn't have to wait on the shelf to sell.>>725671408

you have to understand i asked because there are a couple of shops in my area that charge $100 and $125 to do an internet transfer, plus tax and state fees (cuckfornia so $25 DROS)

no idea how they are still in business, im sure now that gun demand has dropped after trump they will go out of business

one of the best 1911s in my opinion, buy some wilsons drop ins and build it up over time, you will end up with a $1000 custom 1911 that out performs $2000+ 1911s

Why not save up the money you'll spend on wilson parts and just buy a decent 1911 from the start?
The Rock Island guns are rougher than a prostitutes nipples.

I chose the 870 over the 500 because I liked it better in terms of feel, but they're both fine guns.

What would you suggest for a good 9mm? I'm thinking 300-600 dollar range.

Thanks my dude. Any thoughts on Glock vs SIG?
>>
>>725688103
The P320 is a better gun than a Glock, and the army seems to agree

I bought 2 Smith & Wesson .380 bodyguards. One as a gift, the other for carry. Was that a bad purchase?

The LCP II is cheaper with a better trigger for about the same size and capacity, but the Bodyguard is still a good gun.
