Zelda looks nothing- nothing at all like what we saw. It was minor changes, it wasn't Far Cry 3 and 4, or Rainbow Six where they just took out content, it was everything.
Even the colour, which was supposed to be vibrant, was replaced by a weird grey colour pallet that looks like someone played with the contrast bar on their phone. It looks shit, mate.

This is pretty typical these days. The game itself is not bad though. Not perfect, but not bad.

As much as autists will cringe about graphics, fps drops or whatever - Breath of the Wild is still an amazing game. It adds a new/fun survival element to Zelda games, best combat yet, cool abilities, a soothing artstyle, a beautiful soundtrack, and a wonderful story.

Hell, the switch is conceptually great, and partially builds upon Nintendo's strength in portable gaming.

Many of us who grew up on older games have much less of a demand for graphics and such as long as the gameplay makes it all well worth while. If you love it you love it.

I run literally every game on maxed ultra settings and never dip below 70fps on anything, Even on 4k I can still get over and far above 60fps.

Once you beat it, it gets boring really quickly. You could do all the shrine quests, but there's no point when you've already gotten enough heart containers and stamina vessels to beat Ganon. The side quests are quantity, not quality.

It started out fun because weapons were hard to come by and Bokoblins could one-shot you. You really felt like you were surviving. When you progress, it easily comes to the point where you can steamroll through everything with zero problem. I found myself dying 1/8 the frequency compared to the beginning. Enemies don't scale with you. You also encounter the same enemies throughout the game. All of the bosses are the same. Parry and flurry rush. If you get the bomb arrows, it's possible to beat any of the -blight Ganons in under 1 minute.

It took me about 60-70 hours to finish all of the main quests. That was disappointing, considering I expected to finish the game in time for MK 8 to be released in April, and that BotW is the only game worth getting on the Switch.

Nintendo's mantra, despite the stereotype, is "all ages", zelda was one of the easier nes titles I completed as a kid (mind you contra was the only other game and that was with help), but it really did make you think, who in the fuck would think smacking a random rock would trigger a fucking door to a cave, this was long before internet ruined the sense of challenge (there was a clue but it was cryptic)

Later games kinda shifted a bit, ocarina of time had the "redeads", fake zombies, these things actually terrified people (provided you were below 15, otherwise kek), the game also had alot of head scratching moments...I quit playing because I couldn't work out a certain water temple, 3 days, no internet to help, so I gave up.

Alot of the newer 2-d zeldas I find have dumbed things down and truly do feel like they are for kids, the 3-d ones as a whole feel "just right" for a broad audience, kids can get a sense of wonder while adults can enjoy a typical fantasy setting that is quite enjoyable.

So, really, its playable for some kids, and enjoyable for everyone, but this isn't like just dance or the shovel ware crap, I would label newer mario games kiddy games, zelda is more broad, at best young teens would better enjoy than a simple child.

But fuck this new one, I got skyrim, does the same shit, better too even with the bugs.

it's really only subpar if you care a lot about graphics, personally if i can see what i'm looking at and it looks somewhat nice i don't mind.

i think the world of the game is very well made and i like the map design. sure it doesn't have perfect crisp smooth anti-aliasing and shaders from the future but that's all in favour of performance, as far as i know the game runs in 60fps. if the graphics were better the framerate would suffer, if the console was higher performance it would overheat, for it to not overheat it would need to be bigger and clunkier and you would complain about that and the debate continues ad nauseam.
