Haven't read thoroughly into it but as far as I can tell, they're also cracking down on that now through ISP's and IP bans or some crap.

A few months ago they caught wind of people selling Physical devices capable of receiving Kodi, a bit like a Sky or BT tv channel receiver. Of course, making a profit through this makes it completely illegal thus they launched an investigation into it. Haven't read anything since.
>>
>>725283661
Use it on my htpc in the living room, works fine. Only thing you need to get used to is the file name format for the scrapers.

Android boxes are getting HUGE here in the U.S. Our local county fair has been selling them for years. For $300. They're like $35-$65 on Amazon. But hell, even for $300, they're worth it. Live TV, movies, commercial-free TV, Netflix originals, Amazon originals, sports, pay per view... it has everything.

And, with a little research, it's super easy to update Kodi and add new builds.

For people unfamiliar, the boxes are mini HTPCs- Home Theater Personal Computers. They run Android. Kodi is the major app you use. Kodi by itself doesn't have shit for content, but it's the builds you add that do. I just set up one with Kodi 17.1 and the latest Echo build. Once the build is installed, you now have access to apps within the app like Exodus. You have a Netflix-like interface where you can search for movies, TV shows, etc, and receive a list of available streams. Starting at 1080p and down. Click and stream via HDMI to your TV. You need a GOOD internet connection.

The boxes are best used with either a wireless keyboard/mouse, or one of the available remote/mini keyboards out there.

>>725286290
Great explanation. I pefer kodi on my 35$ raspberry pi controlled by a xbox Controller. Great stuff!
>>
>>725286290
Hey anon. Would you explain the use of the Builds? Are those versions of kodi with already installed addons and stuff like that? Cheers
>>
>>725286999
I'll explain what I did the other day- I took a friend's box that he did a hard reset on. All that was left was Andoid, Google apps, and a basic, older version of Kodi with NO add-ons. I deleted Kodi, went into the Android settings to allow installations from unknown sources, went to the Kodi site and downloaded and installed the latest Kodi.

I then searched around the net and found recommended builds (settled on Echo). If you Google it, you can find the instructions on loading the builds. Basically, go into Kodi, click left, set it for EXPERT, go into add-ons,. and enter the URL of the build. You then download the .zip file, unpack the zip file into a "repository", install the repository, run the app, and then it installs it's own interface that opens whenever you open Kodi. That's where the Netflix interface shows. You'll have categories like Pictures, Music, Video, etc. Click and play. I pretty much use Exodus for everything.
>>
>>725286290
>Starting at 1080p and down
Very few 1080p and the few that are, usually have a very low bit rate and shitty 2 channel audio, seen better quality from scene cams than a lot of the 1080p content on exodus and the like.
>>
>>725287714
Nice, Thanks mate!
>>
>>725288261
Might depend on your connection. Over 90% of what I stream on Exodus is great 1080p with 5.1 sound.
>>
>>725288683
>Might depend on your connection
I have a very nice connection (home business connection, tons of bandwidth) but even if I didn't if there are no streams available with a decent quality then it's a moot point. I've found ONE episode of ONE TV show that was 1080p with 5.1 audio, lots of 1080p with 2 channel AVC audio with a quality preset of analog telephone (I'm sure of it) ...
>>
>>725289074
There's a problem somewhere... maybe your hardware is old... Anything S905 CPU or older needs to be replaced. Otherwise, I'd recommend the hard reset, get the latest Kodi and a newer build. I've seen this a few times and that's usually the case.
>>
>>725283661
Installed it on a rasp pi 2. Love that shit! Srsly one of the better tech updates I found.

With the CEC protocol on TVs its even better, you just plug it in your tv, and control it with the TV remote.

Exodus is great everything on it. Showed this thing to my gf, my family my friends everyone fucking loves it.

For 40$ you can completly replace cable and netflix. Currently its in the gray considering you are streaming and not downloading and seeding like torrents. Its really great shit.
>>
>>725289287
*S805 I meant. My oldest box is S905 and it's awesome.
>>
>>725289074
Be sure to select the 1080p or HD streams when ita gives you the stream list.

Also what the other anon said, try to get better hardware support. A rasp pi 3 is sufficient for watching 1080p 30fps
>>
>>725289585
That's why I like Exodus over PrimeWire and others. It sorts it from 1080p on down, and if the first stream doesn't work, it'll keep trying...but not usually a problem, since typically, the first one works.
>>
>>725289287
I'm not using some POS android box, full on windows box, HK receiver ... not a hardware issue ...
>>
>>725291278
Then, it's pretty odd that my $35 S905 box gets great, consistent 1080p, 5.1 streams. So do my parents, friends, etc.
>>
>>725289585
How the fuck am I supposed to select the 1080p or HD (720p) streams when there are none? And the few times I have them to be selected they're shit quality ... have you guys never seen a Blu-ray or even HD cable/satellite content? Or are you the guys that see a cam burned onto a Blu-ray and swear it's great quality just because of the Blu-ray disc it's on? resolution doesn't mean shit when the bit rate is low
>>
>>725283661
I prefer zack
>>
>>725291677
Clearly something is wrong with your setup. Possibilities:
1) connection
2) hardware
3) corrupted or old versions of:
a) Kodi
b) your build
c) the sub-app you're using (like Exodus)

You can deny it all you want, but most of us are getting great 1080p streams. And yes, I know what real HD looks like. I've been using Blu-rays for 10 years.
>>
>>725291454

>>
>>725291928

>>725292139
I'll be waiting ...
>>
>>725291928
You're fucking retarded if you think you're getting great 1080p streams ... 99.9% of the streams on exodus come from a scene release as the source (while great for the filesize, is not of "great" quality) and they stream it (e.g reencode it) to a lower bitrate ... you niggas are fucking stupid ...
>>
Would recommend using a VPN to avoid nasty letter from authorities - yes?
>>
>>725292495
So, your circumstantial experience must be true for everyone everywhere?
'K
>>
I'm not knocking Kodi, just pointing out he reality that there aren't that many "great" streams ... they're actually really fucking rare, at least in my experience from what I watch, maybe it's because I'm watching less popular content? There's lots of decent content but mostly it's crap, 480p YouTube looks better IMHO.
>>
>>725292938
>So, your circumstantial experience must be true for everyone everywhere?

and likewise yours?
'k
but you do realize that's how it works though, right?

COPS was shown on Fox, which is 720p. >>725293165
I've set up dozens of Android boxes for people I know. Again. 1080p is not a problem.
>>
>>725293165

>>
>>725293023
>>725292495
>>725291677

You need a resolver service like Real Debrid for true 1080P content on Exodus. It's only like $3 a month and worth every penny.
>>
Op here. Thanks for all of your replies.
>>
>>725293403
OK you're right, everything on exodus is 1080p except for cops ... captcha is getting on my nerves
>>
Making your own set-up must take forever, I just use the fire TV guru build.

Specto and Exodus seem to use the same server's and Salt's Movies is the only reliable port for HD movies, everything else lies and says 1080 and puts out at 480.

First click- Yes, this one WAS only 2.0 stereo. But you can find 5.1 easy enough if you want to check the different streams. Oh look- 1080p.
>>
>>725294168
are you fucking serious ... the captcha for posting here
>>
>>725293993
Firestick CAN be converted.. but you have to root it (Android-based) and sideload Kodi along with one of the builds. Better off just paying $35 for a dedicated Android box. Much more expandable, too.
>>
>>725294207
again faggot, resolution doesn't mean dick without a bitrate to support it ... ignorant faggots, I swear

you do not have to root it, just sideload kodi, but IMHO I'd avoid all android boxes
>>
>>725294300
You're a fucking retard. Not OP but understood it to be captcha in Kodi as well.
>>
>>725294413
Hey, sucks for you that your experience is shit. Too bad about that. Meanwhile, everyone I know enjoys high quality streaming.

Wait, is this all about having to use an expensive windows-based rig when we're spending $35 for something that actually works as intended?
>>
>>725294569
you can't be serious ... so you're telling me that a 1kbps steam will look just a good as a 40mbps Blu-ray just because they're both 1080p
>>
>>725294311
Would the Abox b60 be something that could handle all the Kodi stuff? I really just want to stream new HD movies. Thanks
>>725294572
Why would you avoid android boxes?
>>
>>725294774
No of course not, but the question was, if its a 1080p stream. And like you stated in your reply, it is.

find me a HD (720p) stream of COPS with 5.1 audio ... you faggots can talk all you want about quality but you're missing out while streaming your shit
>>

>Does the BEST stream I've seen compare to an actual Blu-ray?
Of course not, but then again, neither does 1080p on Netflix. If you need that perfect experience, keep buying Blu-rays and stop bitching.

okay, you want to be pedantic, so you're saying a 1kbps stream has the same quality as a 8kbps stream, both 1080p?
>>
>>725295020
True!
>>
>>725294887
I don't know about that... I just buy mine off Amazon. I personally have 3, the cheapest was $35, the most expensive was $60-$70.
>>
>>725294983
Again, go BUY all the Blu-rays you want. No one's stopping you. And also AGAIN, this is really about your more expensive setup not doing what a cheap Android box does.

>>725294983
Who the fuck wants to watch Cops anyway? Go fuck yourself and quit whining or pay 3 bucks to use a resolver like real debrid.
>>
>>725294948
find me one fucking stream of COPS in HD (720p) with 5.1 audio ... any fucking season, any episode ... next to none of the TV shows I watch have 1080p streams, a lot do have HD (720p) but none of them have ever had a 5.1 audio track.

I had a fireTV box and a nvidia shield tv box (which has some very powerful hardware in it BTW, the firetv box would choke on high bitrate x265 1080p while the shield tv could fast-forward the same file @ 8x without issue), neither of those could find the hidden 1080p 5.1 audio glorious streams you guys have ...
>>
>>725295639
well I download 90% of my tv shows in 1080p with 5.1 audio because I care about quality (to an extent) and I enjoy watching them ...

Hey anon. Id recommend you to use exodus for 1080p and 5.1 Audio.

you're entitled to your opinions.
if people want to watch low bitrate 1080p videos, then let them.

im okay with watching encoded 1080p TV caps instead of buying cable and enjoying unaltered sources.
