How's your yearly oblivion playthrough going /b/
>>725276086
So-so im running out of ideas
Pretty good. Leveling my shit all wrong because I don't care enough to cheese this game anymore...
Still fun tho
>>725276086
Last year couldn't finish mine, hope this year I can
might as well start one i have nothing better to do
i have been playing alot of skyrim tho
any ideas of what i should rp as?
>>725276086
been finishing up the dark brotherhood quests. Everytime I replay this game or fallout 3 I find something new. I`m probably going to go the whole way and try to visit every cave and pickpocket every character. >>725276276
What`d you choose as your default skills?
>>725278398
I chose dunmer this time around, choose whatever you've least played as I guess.
>>725278605
in oblivion i always play argonian idk why maybe a high elf for a change?
>>725278745
Depends on the direction that you're going. Match combat and magic skills to the overall ability of your character. Argonian is fairly balanced but somewhat of a noob race since they have disease resistance and underwater breathing. High elf could be fun since it's predominantly magic based, though I think they have a weakness to magic which is shit when you're actually in oblivion.
>>725278398
Bosmer master race stealth archer whose also a thief, but only steals from arseholes.
>>725279294
yeah i always played as argonian for specifically the disease resistance and the water breathing because i hated vampirism when i was 7
>>725279418
sure ill give it a go
>>725279418
fucking hell, I'm literally doing this now.
>>725279507
Vampirism is a pain the ass at earlier levels. My first time playing through the game I caught it at level 2 and I dropped the game for a while. You can avoid it by being careful or by generally being stealthy. Keep some cure disease potions on you in case,
>>725276086
What're your thoughts on the skyrim updated graphics oblivion mod?
>>725277572
considering this game doesn't really end, any progress is good.
bump
Just finished Dark Brohood and starting on Thieves.
I made my character a Redguard for these specific questlines.
Always get about 7 minutes in jack off and forget about it.
>>725281514
>oblivion
id rather just play the new zelda, its basically just a better elder scrolls game
>>725281514
kek
Not doing it.
>>725276086
Doing a battlemage, right now im halfway through The Mages guild and doing some questing and main story, i got about 70Hours or so on this save, thats what getting fired from your job will do, im also doing a no fast travel on this save, so thats also why its so many hours.
>>725281257
Four thousand years from now historians will find this picture and think it has religious significance.
>>725281684
it lacks the same autistic qualities that made oblivion oblivion. Still okay though
>>725281782
I always start with the mages guild as well.
>>725281945
I love all the guilds in oblivion, especially the mages guild. Gathering the recomendations and such, it feels so real, like its more than ''ohh you can cast this spell than everyone can, welcome'' which is in skkyrim.
Where I'm from we don't trust people that don't give it a yearly playthrough
>>725281943
everything has magnanimous significance if you allow arbitrary analysis.
>>725281619
I can't believe Trips won TWO Spinner belts.
What a wrestler.
>>725276086
why not just play skywind going through morrowind, oblivion and skyrim all connected using mods to get the ui you prefer of the 3
>>725282107
the more I play it the more subtleties I pick up on.
I know the thieves guild has a lot of foreshadow in the dialogue, and the writers may be a bit cliche but overall the questlines are great.
>>725282274
because I'm a console fag
you mean morrowind?
>tfw you prefer morrowind
>>725282393
that too, everyones got enough time to do a play through of at least 1 elder scrolls game.
>yearly
>>725282155
An intelligent response on 4chan. Whelp didnt see that one coming.
>>725282422
do you remember being blown away by the pixel shading water, when you bough a graphics card with pixel shaders exclusively for that? ^^ oh man
>>725282274
Probably because that requires playing Skyrim, which is a disgusting abomination that rivals stage four cancer.
>be near the shacks outside the imperial city
>sometimes at night the thiefs that live there actually sneak into the city and steal from houses
Loved little things like this, oblivions NPCs were so much better
>>725282481
I should play morroind again sometime fuck me^^
>>725282582
its funny you will give up playing through morrowind and oblivion with modern graphics and the games set up the same as they were simply because you are a faggot
>>725282645
the AI concept was not well done but man it was ambitious. A lot more than skyrim thats for shure...
>>725282671
Where you @ fam?
>>725282761
>>725282785
It was quirky and sometimes silly things would happen, like I've seen half a town go mental just because an NPC stole some bread and got slaughtered by guards for it, but personally I loved that stuff. It made the game more unpredictable, felt more alive.
Nothing ever happens in skyrim outside of scripted radiant events.
>>725282761
I don't care for graphics. That's just icing on cake.
And in regards to Skyrim, that icing is covering a cake made of garbage.
>>725276086
>implying I have one
>implying based Morrowind isn't the far superior installment in the series
>>725283060
yeah I enjoy the randomness and glitches of oblivion. Skyrim had a lot of content but was generally uninteresting, even the glitches were boring and unhelpful.
>>725283065
This
>>725283154
based anon
>>725283345
I thought they did a fantastic job of creating Skyrim's geography (the western part - I think the Reach - was my favorite region) but the characters and quests just weren't memorable at all.
>>725283426
That's mainly it, other than dark brother hood quests there really wasn't much interesting quests to the game. They had a sparse map and had a lot of stuff to explore, but in general the game was pretty boring.
>>725278605
>Imperials hail from the province of oblivion
Nigga just went full retarded. I'm not sure how you could even mess this up by accident...
I played Oblivion last year, to completion, but I don't think I'll play it again. I was playing Morrowind late 2015/early 2016, but I uninstalled and reinstalled, trying to fix some mods. However, the uninstall fucked up, so I can't properly install it anymore. I can't be asked to fix that and reinstall it, even though I think Morrowind is the best Elder Scrolls game.
>>725283665
how the fuck did you not realize that entire list was a joke. Every fucking character is suited to be a stealth archer.
>>725283665
>he thinks it's a serious image

what visual mods do you use and or recommend?

Good, just finished the Knights of the Nine questline.

I like how they represented sheograth's realm.

Yes, very much so.
Let me see what I can find...
it's the first time i actually play it with the add ons. went early to solstheim to kill the guy who would send killers for me. took miraak out, been roleplaying miraak ever since. that sword animation and the tentacle explosions, love it.

Who the fuck made this
>>725287662
Theres the fucking soundtrack to oblivion which is still awesome. Try this https://youtu.be/F9V18qyWReo.
Any type of modest post rock or cinema score will have a similar effect.
>>725287811
Ouch, I'm glad I will expand my knowladge.

what you're looking for is generally minimalist, You can try the rest if Monos discography it'll all be the same. Theres plenty of minimalist music,

>>725290043
Ach, why the fuck google abandoned wave, we could be talking differently by now.
>>725289950
Nothing is necessary.
What do you like specifically?
Darkness, transcendence, glory?
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=s4Yb_vf-Qfo
I actually booted up oblivion again today because I didn't know about Uriel Septim's alternate dialog rignt before he dies, and I wanted to see if I could get him to do it.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do for this play through. My friends and I used to do this play through type called invisible play through, where we'd put invisibility enchantments on all our armor and jewellery and go through the whole game undetected. It generates some good laughs.
Maybe this play through will be a pacifism play through. Or maybe I'll do a genocide play through and kill everyone who is killable.
>>725290199
Wasn't aware that was a thing. Something new learned today.
>>725290381
I've done that for fun most of the time, but I"m not sure the extended dialogue is really a thing. But the game is so convoluted and glitchy that it might be true. I'll check around.
>>725290338
Darkness and clarity, pure essence of the darkness. Also transcendence is good.

But I understand what you're going for.
Try a less structured approach, music is about organization.
>>725291825
I get you, I will have to make time for that...
>>725276086
Currently working on Skyrim, I have previously just finished the game once and now I am doing it to "do it all" - I am going to discover and clear all locations, finish all quests and so on.
>>725292188
I've done that in skyrim. It's less interesting than oblivion, but still fun in the mean time.
Enjoy it.
>>725292188
Download "Molag Bals inferno".
One of the best dlcs on the nexus.
>>725292394
I meant mods, it feels like official dlc.
>>725292385
I am enjoying it so far, due to how I literally scan through the map to find every place in-game I'm finding so many "new" things I've never seen before!
>>725292394
I've never used any mods.
>>725292583
There are many great mods out there, Mxr has a series showcasing them on youtube.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7UvS_VRShAM
>>725292394
>>725292543
Never seen that before, But then again I don't really bother with mods. Looks great.
>>725292583
Yeah attention to detail is necessary to elder scrolls games. I know Camel Works on youtube does a fairly indepth look at easter eggs, but it's still missing alot from the game.
>>725286202
Is it worth trying morrowind if i have never even played oblivion? Everything ive heard about it sounds pretty great.
Mine crashes as soon as I get out of the sewers. Maybe next year
>>725292812
For the purpose of bumping I can continue with surrealist artwork.
>>725292923
Watch link related series, so many fantastic mods, entertaining too.
>>725292828
>>725292954
Yes, absolutely. You should add some mods for your first playthrough. They will only really fix the game, not add new stuff to it or drastically change it.
I will post the guide if I can find it.
>>725292954
Morrowind is crash prone at times and it is based on a dice roll chance system for any action, I like that, I love the lore and large world. Modded it is even larger and graphically more impressive.
Try it, or watch a let's play on it. SorcererDave has a series on his channel dedicated to Morrowind.
>>725293668
The lack of a mini map/radar alone means it is the best in the series by far. After Morrowind then it became more and more about ZOMG GRAPHICS and less about an actual RPG.
>>725292954
If you like exploring and finding a lot of cool shit and not having a quest hold your hand and point you to everything interesting, then yes. If you want to RP an efficient courier who goes from A to B try Skyrim or Oblivion, to a lesser extent. OR any of the modern fallouts for that matter.
>>725293997
Agreed completely!
That being said, I wish it could be remade exactly the same but on a 64bit engine with expansion mods built in and superior 4k graphics.
>>725276086
Why would I play shit yearly, anon?
>>725292923
>But then again I don't really bother with mods.
So you've never played any fallout or elder scrolls game then? You should, they are neat.
>>725292583
Fuck that looks good
I'll give it a try in the future. I guess the modders add an unusual element to bethesdas original dddesign.
>>725293997
>The lack of a mini map/radar
That made exploring a lot better
>>725276086
i've actually never played it but are looking for a game right now.
how big is oblivion when modded with good textures and other improvements? how many GiB is your folder?
also is there a guide for the best mods? mainly looking for visual enhancements and removal of tedious gameplay elements if there are any
>>725293997
I may get scolded for saying this, but "breath of the wild" feels similar to Morrowind in many ways, and I rank it on the same level as Morrowind.
>>725294376
I'm fucking poor, I mainly play on console w/ DLCs.
I really wish I could play them on xbox or ps3, console really needs the mods to at least fix glitches and gameplay.
>>725294248
Agreed, with indiana jones, OP but varied spells (such as locking fucking doors) an all. It's pretty perfect as is, and mods make it so. Just look at the wildlife in Morrowind vs. skyrim. Check out the wiki and do a side by side. Morrowind is diverse and inventive. Skyrim has a handful of well known ones that pretty much show up everywhere. And fuck that perk system. Want to be a better archer? Better level up your ability to swing an axe for perk points. 'cause that makes sense.
>>725294671
Get a part time job and save up about 500.00, then build a PC.
Super easy.
>>725294671
Oh. Shit. Well on the bright side PCs that can handle them are cheap af now.
>>725294623
I have got to try it. They need a PC version.

>>725294481
It saddens me that games don't do it anymore. But people want something quick that rewards them every 5s. Immersion can suck a dick, apparently.
Just fine, up until the Oblivion gates. That's about when I stop playing.
>>725294820
All I really need is a graphics card and some memory. Anyway easier said than done, the main thing I want is porn mods.
>>725295027
Kek.
>>725294787
Yes! You and I are on a similar wavelength.
The perk system especially is garbage, and the fact that your actions don't have any significant consequence in the world at large.
am i the only one who pref oblivion over skyrim? I never finished skyrim shit is boring
>>725294889
Mmggh! RIGHT!!?
Exactly what I said too.
Nintendo would make even more money and gain a larger fanbase too.
>>725295185
I still enjoy playing oblivion more than skyrim, but skyrims dark brother hood quests are still fun to play, plus the idea of repeatable quests worked more for skyrim than oblivion.
