JFK was a puppet for his father, Joseph Kennedy. Joe wanted to be President, but never made it. He chose his son Joe Jr. to be the one to run for president, but he was killed in WWII. So he then moved on to JFK. There is plenty of information out there that details this. Hell, there was even an article in Readers Digest in the 80s detailing everything.

As for Lincoln, he was responsible for the largest expansion of federal powers in American history. States rights were crushed during his term. He even want as far as suspending the writ of habeas corpus during the civil war.
