I started doing it with a buddy who I was selling drugs with. I messed around with a bunch of different drugs. I fell in love with dope the first line I snorted. I used opiates for a while though I quit but essentially switched for alcohol (which is still bad, but still way better than taking opiates everyday).

opiates are shit when you're addicted. you're waking up in a sweat and pain until you get a hit, then you have to ride that for 5-6 hours until the next one. if not you're left feeling sick as hell, unable to sleep and in pain plus other small things. and that only gets worse and worse the longer you haven't had any, only subsides around 2-3 weeks or so.

I haven't thought about using after 4th time quitting, that time was the worse where it was straight pain for atleast a week and I was drinking a bottle of vodka without any of the pain relenting at all.
quitting that time was pure hell compared to the 1st/2nd time I quit. for the first week that it started (took about 2 days to actually kick in full withdrawals) I was lying in bed kicking around and nonstop moving for hour to try stop pain because sitting still would be like someone had just beat the shit out me

Yeah man be glad you managed to get out early! I'm a chronic addict, contrary to popular beliefs it takes roughly 4-6 months of daily heroin use to get physically addicted - the FIRST time. Each time you detox and stay clean for some prolonged time and then relapse it takes less and less time to get hooked again. You develop the so-called dependence memory. It took me about 5 months (about 3.5 of them daily use) when I started until I experienced first (mild) withdrawal symptoms in the morning. Fast forward and after over a decade on dope with a couple clean times in between (prison and therapy) I still vividly remember when I left my second stationary therapy, I'd spent 7 months in Jail and then straight to therapy where I'd lived 11 months, got out started this new job, worked there 2 months and then relapsed! So after 20 months being totally sober I had this relapse which apart from cursing myself the next day and having some kind of depressive episode left me with no physical symptoms whatever. Went on to use the next few weekends once each time and then every 2 or 3 days and the cravings and withdrawals came back bigtime. It amazed me how fast it went. It does get worse and you'll be hooked after just a couple times using after a long drug career. And your brain is essentially rewired and this damage is irreparable.

As for alcohol, I wouldn't say it's generally better than being addicted to opiates. It depends on what kind of alcohol and the quantity you drink. If you happen to be in opiate susbstitution program then your health will definitely be better than lets say drinking half a bottle of Whiskey daily. I had a couple junkie acquaintances who managed to get off the dope but then started with the booze. Two died of liver cirrhosis (one within about 4 yrs) and one was killed by a train while crossing the tracks one night drunk out of his mind they later told me.

Heroin isn't as horrible as people make it out to be, neither is alot of other hard narcotics but when you start shooting it, it's an entire different story.

I've used heroin multiple times and continue to do so only by smoking it on foil or in joints, but I go by the thumb rule of maximum once a month (Rarely even that) and no more than two, max three days in a row.

Never had any health issues and never had any withdrawals or addiction to it, feels good man. Heroin is a god tier drug if you know what the fuck you are doing.
