Did you genuinely think this conclusion is in any way a somewhat smart, fresh or interesting take on religion? Atheists are people that BELEIVE there is no god, they cannot scientifically PROVE he/it does not exist, much like how religion cannot prove that he/it does exist. That's not the point however, the point is that people BELEIVE he/it does or does not exist. That doesn't however mean atheism is less logically/scientifically valid, if we take the Bible to be gods will then there are more impossibilities and inconsistencies than the alternatives offered by science. Objectively speaking the only thing we can be sure of is that we are conscious, everything else is just our consciousness imposed on an environment, we all know however this overly logical way of seeing things is also ridiculously reductive, much like the picture you posted :)

Congrats, you just discovered that humans are beings greatly limited in knowledge in the grand scheme of things and can neither confirm nor deny a God. Rational/logical arguments can be made for either case. To say it is certifiably one way or the other is to have a great deal of faith or arrogance in either position. I think people should humble themselves under the countless possibilities of creation, from a god/set of gods creating the universe, to the idea that there was no being of any kind behind our universe. Only then can one truly bask in the beauty of life, and enjoy each moment living under the eternal mystery of the universe. The quest for knowledge is beautiful, but there is something so oddly comforting about being humble enough to admit that we simply do not, and currently cannot know.

The entire debate centers around one argument, really:

We know that matter cannot be created, nor destroyed. Something cannot come from nothing.

So how the hell did all the matter in the universe come to be?

The Big Bang theory doesn't adequately explain this - it assumes that matter has just existed, in one form or another, forever. This does not make sense with our current understanding of physics.

So how to answer the question? Dunno. My pet theory is that matter can in fact be created from nothing, and we just haven't discovered how, but saying that a random God (which in this context means a being with the ability to create matter) just whipped everything into existence is equally as valid, because we just don't know.

So stop arguing about it you shits.

One way to look at that is how much we could have made progress in that time. We didn't always have the resources / tech we have now so the thousands of years aren't all equal in significance.
