The face when someone asks how you're gonna pay for everyone's free shit after pointing out a 100% tax on anything over $100k for not just the top 1% but the top 10%
>>
Trump wants to add 54 billion to the military budget.

That amount would pay for most of, if not all of, free collage for students.
>>
>>724278714
*college

it would cover collages too.
>>
>>724278714
Free college should be done with online classes. Currently colleges are bloated with far too many useless administrative bureaucrats who watch YouTube videos and do paperwork all day. I like the idea of a sensible common baseline for people who can handle college level material, but it needs to be efficient.
>>
>>724278714
Also
>don't elect Hillary, she wants more expensive wars
>lol brb let's spend more on the military, we totally won't start a bunch more wars we have no intention of finishing

bernie, the knight you need but dosen't deserve
>>
>>724279203

To your first point, if schools are full of bloat in the administration, that is a separate problem to be fixed. I dont think making only online classes free is the solution. Plus, I kinda think online education is like home schooling and is only for socially retarded cucks.

To your second point, I dont know what the fuck you are talking about.
>>
>>724279290
i no rite.

I feel the Rebublicucks are always talking about smaller government and less spending and then they always end up spending a shit ton on retarded shit like destabilizing the middle east.

Thats the 54 billion. I heard the thing about it being able to pay for education on the radio. Let me see if I can find something.

are you retarded?

Ye it would be so much better going towards education, from kindergarten to university, not just colleges. America has an average iq of 90, its not more military thats needed.

I couldnt find anything about what i heard but I found an (older) article saying it would cost about 70 billion. Not that far off.

>let's have an infrastructure program
good idea since Obama fucked this up when he tried
>let's actually control our borders
good idea since both sides have fucked this up for decades
>let's remove excessive regulations
mixed on this; define 'excessive'; don't want another financial crisis
>let's not fight Russia; let's avoid pointless wars in general
sounds good
>let's control the debt burden, Obama racked up so much debt after the crisis
yep we better cut spending on unneeded things and maybe consider some taxes to patch up the deficit
>let's massively cut taxes on the rich like my cool friends in the cabinet, make that infra program A TRILLION DOLLARS, and actually let's increase military spending anyway just for the hell of it
wtf is this shit; we're going to lose our reserve currency status and succumb to our debt burden like Britain after WWII at this rate

I know a lot of liberals hate it, but I think education should be the same school to school and controlled nation wide from one central office.

I think there could be a lot of benefit from the entire school system working off one lesson plan, and one set of books. Both in terms of savings and stopping bible belt shit stains from fucking up kids with their fairy tails and science avoidance.

Per capita is a bullshit statistic to use because Saudi Arabia is way smaller.
>>
>>724281123
Bar graphs always look different from another angle.

Also it would be foolish to assume that bump in military spending wasn't going to go to things like the VA as well as the other unnecessary bullshit we don't need.
>>
>>724280697
Actually that's exactly what most liberals want. Easier to make sure Jews and blacks stay at the top of the victim hierarchy that way.
>>
>>724280940

Why stop subsidizing loans?

I am fine with people getting stupid degrees, but the gov't shouldn't pay for them.

I agree, not everyone needs a classic college education.

This is the big thing. We need plumbers and shit like that. It's going to be a long time before a robot is rolling up to your door to fix your sink and fuck your wife.

Trump met with business CEOs this week. They told him there are plenty of jobs but not enough trained or qualified Americans to fill them. Bernie's plan is to tax speculative trading which creates no goods or services but lines the pockets of those fortunate enough to be able to participate. Republicans point to a failing public school system, and plan to privatize it, yet they are the first to cut funding for the schools.

>>
>>724281293

Yeah, and some or more valuable than others.

I don't see the value of the per capita statistic compared to overall spending. Small, rich countries is what mainly comprises that list. The USA probably has the biggest population on that list which proves even more that we spend a shit ton.
>>
>>724281401
The EU ran a study a few years ago showing that taxing financial trading would lop off an entire 1% from GDP within 20 years while raising only a few tens of billions. That's absurd. Extremely inefficient in terms of tax revenue raised vs economic damage. Much better to tax income or inheritance-- more efficient and still captures some of the revenue from trading anyway since high-income people are doing it.
>>
>>724281460

Which is exactly what they want you cuck.

As soon as a population thinks like that their government has won.

We need to move closer to lopping off heads than "fuck it, let it happen".

Do you have any idea how much money electronic trading saved for pension funds and long-term investors by narrowing the bid-ask spreads in the market? This shit used to be done by humans, who inherited the "floor specialist" jobs from their fathers half the time, and charged 10x-20x as much on the spread. I don't want to go back to a system like that. It's better to leave the robots in charge and not throw sand in the gears of the economy. All the studies say they improve liquidity and reduce price fluctuations too, even for big investors like pension funds and mutual funds.
>>
>>724278714

It's been determined that a powerful military is more important to our country than free college.
>>
>>724282512

What?

So taxing financial trading means they cant use computers?

You're right, let's elect a glorified landlord instead. He knows all about business. Oh wait, the only successful businesses he has are based on licensing his NAME only. He doesn't manage them. His startups have all failed and the only reason he's wealthy is because he's a fucking land baron.
>>
>>724282649
It means spreads will widen out to absorb the tax, so that the traders quoting the spreads still make money. The tax won't be paid by the traders. It will be paid by the pension funds, mutual funds, etc. And by the loss of GDP growth that results from having less efficient capital markets apparently. It's much better to just tax income directly-- it doesn't cause as severe of distortions relative to the amount of revenue raised.
>>
>>724283080

He is also pretty wealthy for being a famous asshole like mean British guy or Angry Douche Chef.

>>
>>724278714
College is a waste of time. The reason we have so many dumb degrees nowadays is because colleges are rinsing the government for their money. They can't believe how good they have it. Make up any old bullshit and those stupid fucks in government will still pay for it. It's the best scam of all time.
>>
>>724284952

I'd like to see this expanded upon. It seems doable with enforced baseline criteria and accreditation checks. With decreased professor-student reaction we'd need to make up for the lack of human interaction by having them take multiple (and practical) internships. Maybe imclude biweekly, year-round guidance/group discussions hosted with professors taught how to actually educate people.

Of course there are influential groups standing in the way of this, namely the (high profit) educational loan conglomerates and established colleges/universities with influential and loyal alumni

The liberal arts are great but lets be honest, let's leave them to the smarter kids on scholarships and rich dumb bitches looking for her Mrs.

>>

Who gives a fuck what you're fine with? It's none of your business. If college wants to offer a degree, they can. If it's a shit degree, people won't take it. If it's a good degree, they will. The only things that will stop shit degrees failing is the government being involved.

Saying you're fine with it shows what an entitled little fuck you are. It has nothing to do with your dumbass.

>>
>>724285422
Here's the deal:

Wages have failed to keep up with inflation for the past several decades. Additionally, tuition costs have universally quadrupled in that same period. (Liberal Arts and STEM)

On top of that, there is generation pressure to obtain a 4 year degree. So much so that it is written into most entry level professional job requirements.

Finally, while there is a shortage of skilled tradesmen in the US it's not enough keep the majority of people employed. And when you add in attrition in other sectors due to increased automation there will simply be very few high paying non-college degree jobs within the next couple generations.

Get comfy with the Basic Universal Income and massive unemployment or optimistically some kind of Post-Scarcity economics because that's where we're headed.
>>
>>724286257
