One easy scam you can pull to get free beer is to simply call the 800 # on the case and tell them the beer tasted musky or flat. Insist that the whole batch was affected and they'll generally send you a voucher for a free case. Do this to 5 or 6 companies and the free beer starts to add up. You can actually call customer service for just about any cheap product with a complaint, and if you negotiate well, you can get a lot of free stuff.

Fake disability scams can also net you a fair chunk of change. Choose an ambiguous disability like anxiety or BPD that is hard to confirm and look for charities and scholarships that are geared to your disability. I once received a $5000 scholarship for the blind, while my vision is actually okay

Walk into a restaurant and ask to speak to the manager. Tell him you're reviewing for a food magazine and 8 times out of 10, you'll eat for free

Order a discounted product online in the original packaging. Take it to a retail store and negotiate a refund or, at the very least, store credit. You will often turn a profit or gain much more store credit then you paid online.

This one I've seen on TV so have not verified: While at a hotel, stake out a couple staying in an executive suite to see when they leave their room. Tell the front desk that you've lost your key; give them the couple's room #; return shortly thereafter to ask if they can unlock the room's safe. Depart with cash, jewellry etc. Sometimes the net can be in the thousands

Read about scams. Get good at doing scams. Realize that in the amount of time required to do said scams (and pissing a lot of people off and possibly going to jail in the process) is better spent in a legitimate job.

Accident embellishment/slip-and-fall scam. Should you suffer an injury through happenstance or your own fault (eg. Bad back, strange rash) call a company and allege that the condition was caused by their product or on their property. Threaten legal action. Offer or accept a satisfactory settlement

Bogus club promoter scam: Works best if you have a fake i.d. and assume a fake name. Let the club manager know that you will be attending the nightclub for a function and would like VIP treatment. Do this at the right club and you may be lucky enough to get 5 free shots for everyone in your party or something like that. Comes with a lot of perks

Medicinal marijuana scam: Find a local 'compassion' club that writes cannabis prescriptions. Tell them you have insomnia, issues with appetite and other ailments for which marijuana is prescribed. Exaggerate your symptoms so you get 5 grams a day or more. Take a little off the top for personal consumption and sell the rest. Take advantage of low-income pricing if you can, and every 4-5 batches, call in with a complaint (eg. too much moisture, taste not-as-described, sticks and stems, etc.) to receive further discounts

Library book scam: Borrow desired material from your local public library. Ask to speak to the Chief Librarian and insist that you returned the item and it must have been lost-in-transit/not processed for return. Most libraries use a software program with a 'Claims Returned' option, where they will write off the book as lost and not bill you for it. You can either keep the book for yourself, or remove stamps and sensory strip to sell it online or to a used book store for extra cash

Pop machine scam: If you are ever passing though Walmart and want to make a quick 4 bucks, simply tell Customer service that the machine ate $4 of your money. They will reimburse you on-the-spot, no-questions-asked almost very time

Lost luggage scam: If you're staying at a high-priced hotel, report your luggage (or items within it) as lost or stolen. If the chain denies responsibility, threaten to write scathing reviews online. Most of the time. the chain seeks to maintain its reputation and will make some concessions.

I used to do something sort of like this.

I created a fake food blog a while back, copied and pasted a few articles, used stock photos and photos from local eateries facebook pages.

I would go to a place, tell them I have a food blog, the visitor counter was photoshopped to look like its super popular, and that I was wondering if they had a problem with me doing a blog on their food. I never, even once, paid a single penny for my meal, and I was given 2 to 3 full entrees if I asked for them. Most of the time they straight offered to bring me 5 or 6 full plate choices to taste. I had a close to $150 meal at a high end steak place here in Austin once.

I stopped doing it because I hit so many places and figured with me giving a url to a blog that would be pretty obviously fake if you spent a few minutes looking at it, that word would get around so I am taking a break for a couple years.

When going to an amusement park, request a wheelchair for yourself or someone in your party. At most parks, there is a separate lineup for handicapped people. You can now bypass the busy lines. If you own a wheelchair, you can also bring it to standing-room-only concerts to get to the front of the stage. In fact, a wheelchair will get you free rides on the bus or subway and it will also garner sympathy and better treatment from people

Free Wi-Fi scam (not gonna list all the steps). Read up on encryption and network security. Find a neighbor with weak encryption (if anyone's still on WEP, it's a breeze; WPA is a little harder. Download the necessary software (eg. Commview and Aircrack-ng). Crack their password using brute-force dictionary attacks. Leach off their Internet and cancel your own. Used this on 2 or 3 neighbors over the course of 5 years to receive free WiFi

Conference scams: If you're ever wandering by a conference, get a press badge from the registration table by telling them you're an independent journalist. Go around collecting free swag and drink tickets. Mingle a bit and leave. You can also submit a simplistic poster presentation for a conference in an exotic locale, and try to get your employer to cover your expenses, which you're definitely gonna inflate ;)

Free samples/coupons maneuver: You don't always have to have a complaint to get free shit. Sometimes, if you let companies know about your brand loyalty or satisfaction with their product, they will send you promotional stuff. My mom writes all sorts of health food companies, saying she's pleased with their products, asking sometimes if she could receive samples or coupons. Most of the time, they are happy to oblige, and this can cut down on your grocery bill a little

Not really a scam, but a nifty trick if you're having a hard time in college or uni: Register with accessibility services, claiming a mental condition or learning disability. Most schools make accommodations for such students (eg. My ex-gf had nothing wrong with her, but got extensions on all her assignments, got to write tests in private, and got any courses she wasn't doing well in dropped from her transcript long-past the add/drop dates, so it didn't affect her GPA). Then apply for any scholarships and bursaries for disabled students (many of them go unclaimed).

Telecom scams: If you need a discount on your cable bill, telling your provider that you're experiencing frequent service interruptions is the way to go. I've also reported phones stolen to get out of contracts. Hard for them to verify. They might try to give you the run-around, but if you remain firm, and tell them you're thinking of switching to another provider/ threaten to escalate the situation, etc., they'll concede. Ask for 2-months free or whatever sounds reasonable

Contest manipulation: Everyone prob does this. Enter a contest on behalf of yourself and all of your family (vary the handwriting if dealing with a ballot box). Agree to split the prize if you win, but you've just increased your odds significantly. For radio contests, get one of those phones with 10 lines and auto-redial. My bro has one at his work and he wins like 3-5 radio contests a year

Anyone have any casino tips and tricks? Not really a scam, but a lot of the time you can sign up for winners' circle and get free playing money every month and on your birthday, so you're not really losing if you play with that. Turned house money into a couple hundred one time

I'll list some more examples of customer complaint scams you can easily replicate:
For beverages, just say the product leaked or you found a foreign object in it. I once told Nestea that I found part of a rubber band in my ice tea. This was the 1st complaint I made, but when I saw how easily it was to get a free case, I expanded to other products.
Free protein powder- just say it's clumpy and stale
Food- Packaging came torn or tasted funny
Cosmetics- The consistency was off (eg. watery or oily)
Hair dye- Color didn't turn out
Virtually anything $50 or less, you can fabricate a bogus complaint and receive a free coupon or cheque in the mail.
I always use a fake, generic-sounding name like Kyle Harvey or Nathan Rutherford. The company always sends you a funny apology letter for your experience, say they're committed to ensuring product quality and shit like that. I used to keep a whole binder of apology letters I would get from companies, addressing me by my various pseudonyms haha

If you live in a city with a lot of gyms, rather than committing to one, most offer free 30-day trials or something like that. Sometimes you have to sit through a sales pitch, but you're under no obligation to sign up. Take advantage of the free trials, jump from gym-to-gym and see what each has to offer. Sometimes you'll even get a free gym bag or other swag

Lost and Found scams: Really easy to pull off. Just call up a bar, skating rink, library or any establishment with a lost and found and give them a vague description of an item you lost there. If they ask for details, you can make something up on the spot or say I dunno, it was just gifted to me. You can sometimes get coats, wallets, etc. Every library has a shitload of USB drives in their L&F so if you need one of them just tell'em it's a grey Kingston or other major brand. Sometimes you will find stuff on the USB's if you're into identity theft or have any other clever intent with the info

Actually I do know how it works in Canada as I've been getting medicinal for years, know most of the distributors, and have gotten ample discounts from mine. It's not that hard to get your green card and the companies have product recalls all the time
