I read an article about how violins started with circular holes too and moved on to Ds and then Cs and then fs and the thing that made sound project better was the perimeter, not the area of the holes. hence the long slender holes.
>>
>>724000772
acoustic. I mean it's 24 frets joined at 22 so it's way outside the norm. I have an acoustic but I got so pissed one day about fret access I just drew up the plans for an acoustic the way I thought it should be done. I also gave it a 10 inch fretboard radius because I like a rounder fretboard for chords. and 25" scale. There is actually a lot going on with the design under the surface. I think I modified an approach at every design element. But my starting point was a prewar martin dreadnought.

Are... Are you retarded? Are you literally fucking retarded? Why the hell would you even say that? Because it's an anonymous board and no one knows who you are? Do you not feel embarrassment? Do you not wish to kill yourself? Are you not going to say sorry, for saying something like that? Do you see all these people? They all think you're retarded now. It doesn't matter that you posted anonymously, they know that this comment - that very comment, has been written by a chromosome-less retard. They know that you are the biggest failure on earth and the death of you will only mean raising the IQ of this world. Please, I ask of you, with all fellow /b/tardas, kill yourself, in the most painful way possible. End it, your and our suffering of your complete stupidity, of your lack of self awareness, and of your completely irrational judgement call to say such a completely retarded thing. My regards to your mentally ill mother and your brain dead father, for creating such an abomination as yourself. Remove yourself from existence. May your final meal consist of rat poison and nails, and wash it all down with bleach, retard.

Just stop. If you ever post here again, I will fuckin’ choke slam you into a coffee table, with any luck it will be one of those old school antique coffee tables that was made out of the really good wood from deep in the fucking forest and not that Ikea bitch that explodes like a fucking stunt table. I will put you right through it, and pull you up by your god damn larynx and then right through the dry wall, my hand would be disappearing into the wall like I just fisted a fucking horse. Then I’d pull you out, you’d have plaster all over your fucking hair, you’d be deprived of 3 quarters of your oxygen, and you’d start to cry. Then I’d just whisper into your ear, really calmly, like one of those bad guys in one of those great 80’s movies with Mel Gibson, or fucking Stallone or whatever, where once the goons would get him tied up and the head bad guy that’s running bitch would come in all relaxed with his dress shoes and suit and would just come up and put his face like parallel to the other dude’s face and just come in and whisper in the guy’s ear nice and calmly. That’s what I’d do to you, as you’re struggling to breath, I’d put my head right next to your ear and just be like “If you ever post in this section again, I will fucking kill you. You understand me? The only reason you’re not dead right now is because I haven’t figured out how to get away with it yet. If you even come in this section again, I swear to god, I will grab you by your fucking baby fat and the top of your fucking head and I will throw you upside down through a bay window” As you sit out there in the rain, picking the glass and the wood shards out of your body, I’m gonna take a tray of hot macaroni and throw it right on your fucking face. That’s what I’ll do if you ever post here again.

sound is actually amazing. sustain is about 12 seconds at normal volume with a lot of overtones but I guess around double that if you put your ear close to the hole. It's actually very balanced as well. Cutaways tend to be over trebly and high bridges tend to be bassy. They more or less cancelled eachother out. The other thing to know is I routed that saddle slot probably to less than 1/8 of an inch of the bottom of the bridge so it seats very deep. It is also a very tight slot.

to address the depth, yeah it's about 5 inches deep. just a hair thicker than a standard dreadnought. the depth gives better volume. It's actually not too uncomfortable. the neck length is a little weird though you get used to it. In any case it's a prototype. If I were to make more I'd probably move everything down by about an inch and also stick to OM body thickness.

I compared it to a taylor that was about $3200 I had tried out earlier. I thought the taylor was quite good until I took this in and played them one after the other. I mean it wasn't even close. And this guitar has a lot of shit inside with the pickup system I used as well. although the k&k holy trinity mini onboard is truly the shit.

I'm no good in the studio, despite having a starter interface for recording. I should take the time to learn and program some simple drums for the sake of finding people. Although by nature of ambient music, most of what I play ends up a wall of effects that I almost immediately forget afterwards. Learning a more straightforward songwriting method is one of my goals for the year.

That's a very good thing you did.

I did the same for my best friend. I used to write songs all the time in High School on guitar, drums, bass and sometimes piano. In High School I started teaching my friend how to play and eventually wrote a song for us to play together.

Only recently 7 years after high school) she tells me her love of music is so deep because of me. Because the song I wrote for us to play gave her a more in depth reason to love music.

Her Birthday is May 12th and I bought her 1 Fender Bass, 1 Ibanzes Acoustic guitar, 1 PRS electric guitar, with cases, straps and amps and 1 tambourine.

You probably made that girls appreciation for music much deeper /b/ro.

They are MIJ.

It's like a lower priced MIJ version of the ESP Horizon, Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter is probably the most famous person that has played them.

The full black pearloid binding and glowing side dots are pretty cool.

Better pic, maple neck thru 3-pc, and alder wings, locking Gotoh tuners.

Silicone rubber strings? How do they stay in tune? How often do you change them? I guess being fretless means that they're not being cut harshly by frets, but this all sounds strange. I have this idea in my mind that as soon as you touch the string, the string will just bend like you're playing with a rubber band.

Both great pedals. The empty spot on the far left of my board used to hold an Ibanez FL9 until some prick spilled beer on it. Will replace.

Likewise it's fucking liberating to play with a minimal setup, so I get where you're coming from. Especially playing live there's always this sense that one knob's going to be out of position and the whole rig will sound like shit.
>>
>>724009691

>Silicone rubber strings? How do they stay in tune?
Once they stretch out it's fine.

>How often do you change them?
They last for years and years. Some people report strings lasting since they bought their bass 20+ years ago. And since the pickup is piezo it doesn't matter how old they get, the guitar will sound the same.
About the only difference is that being rubber, the strings can get sticky. A little talc on the fingers and you'll be good to go.

>I have this idea in my mind that as soon as you touch the string, the string will just bend like you're playing with a rubber band.
It doesn't measurably. The action is low enough that you're not stretching out the strings too much. And being fretless, you can adjust the pitch of the note(s) on the fly.
As far as playing, the only different technique it really requires is for bending. Silicone rubber doesn't change in pitch nearly as much as steel for a given distance bent, so you need to bend a different way to get the pitch change you desire. You have to move your hand up and down the length of the string (more like a classical player), not side to side the way people are used to seeing.
>>
>>724011030

I will say this, you fuckers are lucky you don't play drums.

Never.
>>
>>724011727
ok, then i must ask you, i had drummers fight over this for years.

paiste or zildjian?
>>
>>724000387
This looks almost exactly like my old bass. Those memories. I miss that thing.

god, i remember when the little girls in high school wet their panties over him. damn.

Ego having faggot detected.

So what's it like being a homeless rockstar?

Play for 10,000 people, get paid $500. Living that life!
>>
>>724010550
Of course he did.

Those "cheap guitars" were vintage Fenders and Martins, and then finally Fender custom shop-made guitars. So to get guitars that are as cheap as his, you'd have to spend thousands of dollars. Ironic, no?

Ther's also the part about Nirvama recording in a top-notch LA studio in with over $10,000,000 worth of equipment and expertise at his fingertips, but we're not gonna talk about that.

If you really want an example of doing shit on the cheap, look at Godsmack and/or Creed. Their first albums were recorded in improvised home studios.
>>
>>724011926
Not that guy, but that life sounds great.
>>
>>724011926
500 dollars? Yeah right, this faggot gets 2 drink tickets a show.
>>
>>724011825

Paiste

Just because they both sound good but Paiste is expensive as fuck and has more exotic choices.

$450 ride cymbals...jesus christ. They do sound the best though, which sucks.
>>
>>724011940
>Their first albums were recorded in improvised home studios.

if you really want to get into that, look at what Tom Sholtz did the first Boston album on in his fucking basement. that that was home brew. they shopped that record around and Epic (i think that's who bought it) never knew how it was made or that there wasn't actually a band behind it.
>>
>>724012018
what about the k series fuckhead. ever heard of istanbuls
do you even cymbal bro? why are you alive?
fuck you.
take your fucking pdp kit and shove it up your pussy
>>
>>724011270
It's just a little different.
Once you plug in it doesn't matter at all. People look around for the guy playing the fuckhueg bass guitar and meanwhile there you are plunking away at your sub-2lb thing that looks like a weird electric mandolin.
>>
>>724012018
>$450 ride cymbals
OMG, you are kidding? just for ding ding ding? jesus god

not to mention cancer. he had like mouth cancer from smoking so much i think. cancer from something. he was fucked up. the crack didn't help
>>
>>724012099

The only good thing Zildjian makes is their A custom Crash cymbals.

Sabian beats them in hi-hats, and Paiste beats them in rides.

The K series is so over priced, no one wants "dark" sounding cymbals. They are hand hammered and look cool, but the sound is weak.
>>
>>724012141
I love mine, the nice chunky neck avoids my hand cramping up after a couple hours..

Though the stock bridge was aids, slapped a TOM-STB on it and its amazing.

Would never risk taking it on stage considering the price..

I know all about Tom Scholz

That first Boston record is insane, and he did pretty good for himself with the Rockman too.

However, the long term implications of:
>hey I know! Let's market a product that makes everyone sound just like ME!!
...means he will never get the credit he deserves for his achievements now. Now his tone just sounds like every shitty 80 bedroom player ever, when it was actually quite revolutionary for the time.
>>
>>724001892
nice paint job, too bad the rest of the guitar is disgusting

strat gets used more than any of the others. that dual coil makes for a very versatile player. i can make it growl like fuck with that

Truth. People buy PRS guitars with their high school graduation money and then put them back in the case and become accountants.

What country do they pay you for graduating high school?

>>
>>724013437
just gravitated towards it. had the double cutaway nitro's, tracers, and vandy's. then, was able to score a generation body off of ebay. stouter tone, beat up, mahog/maple. and fit all kinds of peavey necks. like left handed ones. ;)
>>
>>724012797
Sounds like Eric Johnson but not as fast. How do you do that violin tone?
>>
>>724013700
inexpensive. late 80's early 90's USA made.
>>
>>724013373
because you contribute so much as a musician.

your noise is fucking shit you gas bagging old clown. Your shit sounds the same as every other useless cunt out there playing.

you haven't even got enough respect for your craft to learn how to be original. let alone the origins of the shit you already play poorly.

what makes you think anyone wants to see another wanker wanna be guitar player.

what can you fucking do?

can you even fucking read?

lose the ego. you aren't that good, period.
>>
>>724013692
i don't think so, but i'm waiting on jack russell's opening act here to tell me about it. i'm willing to be persuaded about the tele style pickups. the neck is pretty alluring i must say. i just want to hear it from someone that has played one as a lead guitar
>>
>>724013733
+1
>>
>>724013835
my guitar's have nothing in common with a tele, other than shape. so, can't comment on a true tele.
>>
>>724013647
yessir. ;)
>>
>>724012123
American-made hand crafted musical instruments aren't cheap.
But compared to something more complex like a guitar of similar build character, a single cymbal is still comparatively inexpensive.
>>

>>
>>724013822
>>724013768

danke, i've thought about that style for years and never pulled the trigger on it. good to get some actual true info on the damn things. how does the neck feel? i've heard thin, but that's not a bad thing necessarily for me, i know you're not playing an actual tele, but...
>>
>>724013909
ok, so the neck isn't the same

that's the problem with talking in a thread like this, we loop each other
>>
>>724014074

my left handed necks, thin, like wizard necks, but not as wide. 15" radius.
my tele style necks, thicker, with a 13" radius.

the fender type tele, those are all over the place. but, pick your fave strat neck, there is probably a comparable tele neck. from what i have read.
>>
>>724012630
>power soak
>not the Rockman that was mentioned
Um, anon...
>>
>>724014000
>a single cymbal is still comparatively inexpensive

yes, you could compare that to one expensive pickup couldn't you? there are plenty of guitars that cost thousands of dollars. and a drum kit can be added on or taken off. a guitar has to pretty much be there in whole. so.....
