It is actually not true.
I seen a study that said otherwise and in fact breast fed babies are more likely to get fat.
But it also depended on the size of the mothers breasts. Bigger the breasts more milk they can hold and the more the baby eats.
The best solution is to have medium or small breasts if you don't want fat kids.
Or you go for formula and but maybe add a little bit of extra protein powder?

I've actually wondered this too.

my mom breast fed me but I also had formula.

when my mom left the house, my grandma would give me formula. I asked my mom if she breast fed me until it was 'complete' and she said yes.

also during my first job at costco, I noticed Chinese parents would constantly ask for formula
