Yeah, I think that's why the fans have been ambivalent about the new movies. Yeah, we like them better than the prequels...cause they're just better done. But the EU is still canon to us. At least some of it. The new movies are just an alternate universe, for us. We're still pissed about the Special Edition re-issue of the original trilogy. :)

I dunno what you mean. Are they using him for something? I always thought he was one of the coolest parts of the EU, the way he could read a species' battle tactics by their art.
I never really read much into it, but the Empire's preference for humans over humanoids always struck me as a little forced in the books. They made a point of it all the way. I thought they were trying to explain/retcon it by using the clones but that still didn't really work when you consider the numbers they were supposed to have.
