Shave the neck for sure. The rest of it is up for debate. What do you want to project ontot he world? What do you want people to feel when they see/meet you? Whatever you do with your facial hair, make sure it's orderly and well groomed, or non-existent. Seriously. Girls go crazy for a well groomed beard. Giys too, if that's what you're into. But, just let it grow naturally and, admit it or not, people will on some level look at you as partially animal, so you'll only attract people that want that dirty, barely human shit. Well I got the "neck pubes"when I was 15-16.
I could grow a thicker one in my early 20's, still not like now though, no mustasch back then either.
35 now, started growing my current one when I was 31.
So it took a while.

When you have long hair, you need to keep the scraggly ends cut off so it's thick all the way down. It looks fuller and healthier that way. By the same token, taking off your scraggly neck hair will help your overall look.

As I wrote they make the beard "look" thicker etc. They don't actually do anything physically.
But keeping the beard moisturized is good for it.
Dry hair is never good. Especially if you live in cold climates. Then a beard oil does wonders to prevent split hairs.

Could we see anothe shot of your face with your cheekbones included? This would help us pick out beard styles.
