I remember playing against the AI on max difficulty at the Jedi Temple and just camping that back room checkpoint. All my team loses horribly and it is just me. I solo the last 100 guys and win. Coming at you 1 at a time the AI was hopelessly easy to beat.

For me it was Natural Selection circa 2005-2008.

Nothing could beat being locked in a heated 3+ hour long chess game struggle between aliens and marines....

Just when you cleared out that second hive room you'd hear the commander yell "Get ready!" as you're beaconed back to base to try to fight off five fades that are tearing up your advanced armory and arms labs. As the fades blink out of base one stays behind to get that last swipe on the advanced armory and now you're all stuck with whatever heavy machine guns or grenade launchers you held onto after assaulting that last hive room. Oh and while that was going on a sneaky gorge managed to quietly drop a hive in that third hive room your team thought was secure.

No multiplayer game since has even come close to that wonderful tactical gameplay. That includes Natural Selection 2. It just wasn't the same game...

After playing the last of us I was pretty amazed and didn't think I would have changed a thing about it. I'm getting ready to buy dark souls 3 because I've heard a lot of good things. I wanted to start with the first one but I don't have a ps3 and I heard the second one wasn't as good as the third. Halo 2 was an amazing fps and was like the first console game to establish the online matchmaking dynamic that's been copied by pretty much every fps since then. Mgs 1 was always one of my favorites too. Just played the 5th though and it was just a piece of shit.

Natural Selection 1 is basically a purer version of NS2.

Aliens: There is no alien "Creep" that you must build on, and there is no alien commander. Just like traditional sci-fi lore, the aliens as a team must work together as a sorta hive-mind, dividing up tasks between teammates as things happen. There are no floaters that can build structures, gorges are the only ones that can build anything. The vent systems in NS1 maps allowed smart aliens to build structures in large vent units that would prevent ninja marines from taking out ones in your hive.

Marines: On the marine side you have a commander, but no builder robots that can build the base for you. the teamates must watch each others back and build all the structures. The heavy armor units only use standard infantry weapons, so no Gatling guns. The Siege cannons are static and must be placed within range of a turret factory.

Basically NS1 is much more focused on tight teamwork for both teams, where NS2 lets the commanders sorta work around bad teammates with mobile structures and builder units.

NS1 is much more fun but the community is pretty much dead, although on the weekends if you play in a server long enough its like moths to flame... eventually people will start filtering in and you might get a game like the olden times. You can play on some of the bot servers for practice though, they should still be online.

I hated the NS2 commander spots for this exact reason. You would issue a command to a builder bot or floater and you would always have to click a couple more times to make sure the unit pathed correctly... I heard lately things are better with the community run dev team, but I haven't played it in almost 2 years now.

At least in NS1 as the marine commander you couldn't control any "units," all you could do was drop med/ammo/crack packs and structures.

Morrowind was by far my favorite game. the magic system feels weak as hell until you figure out how to abuse it. between OP scrolls enchanted items and potions you could make even a lowby mage a god. I played it when it first came out. Like MMO levels of gametime for about 3 years. I loved that game and still go back and play it every once in a while.
