Was workin in the prison furniture factory. First break a friend who worked in the office came out and gave me the news about the first hit. All I could think was "How the fuck did he get that far off course to hit the tower?"

A little later he came out and told me another plane had hit the second tower. I said, "We're under attack. We're going to war."

Ten minutes later they moved us all back to our units. They said it wasn't a lock-down, but they wanted the guys from New York to be able to call home. Personally, I think they were worried about a riot, but nobody started one. There was even a petition going around to let us prisoners donate blood to the Red Cross, but that wasn't gonna happen. They decided to take up a collection instead and raised about five grand for the victims.

The worst part was, once I finally got through (phones were all jacked) to my wife, I told her "We're close enough to be in real trouble if either of the towers come down, but the news is saying that they are holding so it should be fine. I'll head home as soon as the streets calm down, it looks like a zoo down there right now." So not 5 minutes later, down they come, debris and shit everywhere, and no more phone calls. My wife and 2 kids were basically grieving and thinking I died in the rubble until I could finally get out and walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and get a call through again.

I was getting high in my parent's basement before i went to high school. I turned on the tv just in time to see the second plane hit live. I thought the world was going to end that whole day. Luckily, I had a few friends to hang out with that afternoon. We spend the rest of the day laughing, and planning out where to get "stuff" to survive if it all fell into anarchy.
