Why does Florida look like a gun?

It doesn't look like a gun, it looks like a handle. hence the name panhandle. The fact that guns have handles is a coincidence.

Actually the fact that it looks like a handle at all is also just coincidence.

the pan handle is the northwestern part of Florida not the southern parts. many states have pan handles, Idaho, Oklahoma, Alaska for example

The Texas panhandle isn't even a real geographical panhandle. It's a political one, referring to the northern "square" part of texas.

basically anything that looks like a panhandle gets called a panhandle. I honestly don't think it should count if it's political vs geographical, but people call Idaho a panhandle, and West Virginia, and Alaska. If you ask me, Alaska and Florida are pandhandles, but the inland states shouldn't qualify even if they draw the states to look like panhandles.
