It's actually because of road rash and massage. Road rash is WAY easier to take care of without hairs sticking through scabs or getting caught on tape/bandaids. And professional cyclists get their legs rubbed down basically everyday, and a massage is WAY better when your leg hair isn't getting pulled or caught.

But most people do it to show they are "legit" or "in the loop" or because "if you have to ask you don't understand" mentality.

But times are changing and male beauty is becoming more and more important as our society becomes more gender equal.The gap between education, income and job security is becoming more narrow for the two genders, and therefor it's not only women who will compete for a partner with beauty.

In 20 years it will be expected that everyone (in the civilized world) will remove leg hair, underarm hair, pubic hair, chest hair and back hair. Many will also remove arm hair.
