The cancer research institute of america averaged the temperature of a burning cigarette to be around 650C, which is around 1200F.

Most vaporizers wont go over around 500F, as far as Ive seen, which isnt exactly a fair argument I know, I cant actually find solid temperature readings from the inside of a bowl or the tip of a joint.

But what you arent taking into consideration is that most people who smoke weed regularly smoke with a vaporizer, or a water rig of some sort, which drastically decreases the temperature of the smoke.
