Which ironic, because a lot of swedes would probably blame the US for the asylum seekers, especially those form Iraq.

Whether or not you believe that you have a moral or religious obligation to help those in need is up to you I suppose. Sweden is a highly non-religious society and there is a massive separation betweent he church and the state so the government's decision to allow the refugees to come here would probably fall into a moral, rather than religious obligation.

Now of course many people disagree with this decision, and the SD party are more than happy to exploit people's fear and mistrust of foreigners in order to gain more political purchasing power by encouraging and promoting nationalistic and jingoistic propaganda.

There are of course your run of the mill neo-nazi groups spreading ALL THE ASYLUM SEEKERS ARE RAPISTS propaganda but I would take what anyone with an extreme ideological bias says with a pinch of salt.

I know that it is not a popular opinion here on /b/, but sweden has needed immigrants to drive the economy since forever. Back in the viking days we imported slaves. After that it was german industrialists and miners. After that there was the dutch wave. After the 1700's there was a decline in immigration, alongside swedish fortunes in general, that culminated with the mass exodus to america in the late 1800's.

Now, again, if you personally believe that Sweden can go it alone, then yeah, fair enough. I am no economist, just a historian (and historically speaking no, no we can not. Stockholm used ot be german. Bergslagen used to be german. Gothenburg used to be dutch.). I will say this though, the fact that people want to come and live here speaks a lot for the nations wealth, rather than if people were moving away from here.

Well, perhaps the government is politically motivated then. They are hoping that the majority of the moderate/socialdemokraterna voters support the decision and thus keep them in power.

I would personally say that if you are a christian then you are morally and religiously motivated to help those in need. Sweden is hardly christian so the only thing that would compel us to help others would be altruism as I see no real economic or political short term gains in allowing asylum seekers

True, but as mentioned, sweden is not america. We have been a nation for a 1000 years. We have a little bit more experience when it comes to integration than the US, not to mention a lot more stable national identity. At the end of the day, we are just a lot better at integration than many other nations but yeah, we may have bitten off more than we can chew for the next 5 or 6 years; A massive population increase such as this would take its toll on any socio-economic system and we will not see the benefits to the gdp that the population increase will give us for a while. Until then there will be social and racial tension because (spoiler alert) immigrants go into poor areas and poor areas generate crime.

If you buy into the whole "mudslimes are more violent/rapey/larcenous" narrative then fair enough, That is up to you but int he real life the sad truth is that it is poor people that are more violent/rapey/larcenous, regardless of religion. There is an argument to be put forward regarding the role of culture when it comes to the prevailance of crime but as mentioned, we have excellent schools and as long as we maintain funding to them in the face of the population increase then integration will be more efficient than, for example, america where they spend their money on the military rather than education.

Granted but it's worth bearing in mind that it is your much maligned nationalism that drives integration. Liberalism simply enables them to continue acting like mud children. But isn't modern Swedish identity only several hundred years old at the earliest?
In any case it's not simply that they cause more crime, it's that their entire ideology is hostile to western ideals and built from the ground up to insert, insulate, and conquer. No matter how much you concede, tolerate, and forgive, it won't matter until you have a separate identity which has out bred you within your own land.
