How much does experience matter these days? I was planning to build my next PC from scratch (haven't ever done it before) but I'm starting to question whether for the 10 - 15% I'd save is really worth it when a company like Chillblast could build a beauty of a PC with excellent cable management and a reasonable overclock out the box.

It's not difficult at all. Just that if you want to have it clean and tight, it'll take me for an unknown case, full gaming system, maybe 45 minutes max, while someone who hasn't assembled a pc before will take 2+ hours for the same result.

I thought that having two fans for radiator exhaust (one pushing, one pulling) creates negative air pressure in the radiator. I thought that wasn't supposed to be very good.

why pull upwards the case when you can suck it out from the back ?

>>723095050
True, but you're sucking heat off the gpu this way, not ideal.
Rebuild it in a new case when I got the job at the shop.

>>723094863
They both blow towards the back of the case, no negative pressure there. Though I did fuck up earlier on that build, had the fan between the heatsink and the case blowing in for some reason. But I noticed that pretty quickly, because it ran a lot hotter than it should during a stresstest.
>>
>>723094583
It's not idleness, I'm just questioning whether I could actually do as good a job as someone who does it for a living. Having installed hard drives, RAM, graphics cards and achieved a stable overclock already I wouldn't really be learning much new other than fitting cooling and doing cable management anyway.

>>723094628
2 hours plus is not bad, thanks man. I just wanted to know whether it's a case that if you're meticulous enough you can reach a similar quality of build to that of an expert.

Computers are weird man.
Few weeks ago I had an expensive system that booted perfectly, but suddenly after an update and reboot, it would only give a black screen. Not 'no signal', just black.
Started replacing parts until it was 90% new parts (gpu, psu, mobo, ram...), still same problem. Test parts separately on another system, everything works.
Put all original parts in, still nothing. I ask my boss if he has any ideas, he takes out the gpu, puts it back in, and everything works and keeps working.

I'm the guy with the fucking shitty mess of a desk a few posts back. I have similar specs (albeit worse CPU) - i5 4670k and GTX 1070 - I ended up giving up on g-sync and just getting a 1440p panel as I felt g-sync was overpriced. I don't regret it whatsoever, the Dell U2515H is a fucking beast, no screen tearing whatsoever as long as you can maintain 60fps at 1440p (which you can easily do with that card). With g-sync you're paying almost double for an inferior quality TN panel.

Either way though definitely go for 1440p. it looks marvellous and the 1070 is wasted otherwise.

I don't doubt it , I used to fix atleast 7 computers a day , but that was 10 years ago when there was still money to be made in repairing computers
>>
>>723099478
Is that a Raven RV-02B?
>>
>>723100119

Close, it's the Fortress FT-02BW. Same layout, better looks imo and not plastic.
>>
>>723098704
yeah g-sync is way overpriced and seems to add £150-200 which is a joke but I played on a friends ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q and it was really smooth so I'm going to bite the bullet and go for it.
>>
>>723100210
Cool, I had the RV02 formerly, solid case but too much room once I went back to an AIO over a custom loop. I compacted it all up and aimed for silence with dampening instead of a large case. >>723099917
>>
>>723100441

I've mainly kept it because of the 90 degree rotation meaning I'll never have to worry about GPU sag. I was tempted to go with the FT05 for a smaller footprint but my PSU is too long to still have a 3.5" HDD cage installed (4TB WD Black for all my Steam games)
>>
>>723099147
>I dunno if you're a baiting the other anon but just incase. DO NOT TURN CHEAP ON THE PSU! You'll regret it man.
lol, not baiting, I only bought the seasonic a few months ago, they are very good psu's and 650w is big enough, you don't need huge psu's with nvidia's being so efficient.

not that unlikely, normal it shops (staff of 5-10) easily averages about 10 computers a week, thats 2400 computers for 5 years
>>
>>723100653
Wattage isn't the be all and end all of that PSU my friend. I fitted an 850w cheap chinease peice of crap and have regretrd it ever since.
Whilst Other factors may be the cause of my computer anxiety to post for long, my troubles certainly started the day I fitted it (and only it).
I've mow got an 850w Cossiair but that's not gonna unburn out my components.

>Plan it before even starting. And experience. I've build at least 2000 computers over the last 5 years.
I have built 100's of pc's, sometimes 20-25 a day but I worked for a charity recycling them, Athlons, K6, Durons, Pentium I, II, 512Mb RAM old stuff and none of them was more than £50 but they were sent to 3rd world countries.

Help me out here /b/, predicament

>stuck using shitty integrated GPU because waiting for 1080 Ti

>plan on ending up on a 1080 Ti FTW, so this would let me Step Up assuming it does launch in the next 3 months

But this puts me at risk for being stuck with almost year old hardware should the 1080 Ti not launch in the next 3 months. What should I do? Is there anyone in here who has experience with using the Step Up program through EVGA?

understood but I prefer matte black cases that don't even shine. I disable the LEDs on graphics cards, motherboards, front panel lights beyond a single power light and a single hdd light. also silent large fans - computing perfection is the absence of light and sound.

I guess what I'm saying is that it's garish and not my style at all.

That said, it looks pretty good.
