This, the second reddit touches it, the coffin nails start getting pounded in one by one as it reaches 9gag, other forums, other chans, tumblr, then finally, mainstream social media, and not always in that order. But you can be sure to blame leddit, and considering there was a massive reddit exodus that happened a few years ago, this board went from worse to even worse.
