You have to realize that unless a Nazi was stationed at a concentration camp, there was a 90% chance that they had no idea what they were doing to Jews. If they were on the frontlines (like most were) they just thought they were fighting for their country. There's a picture floating around on the internet of a roomful of Nazi looking ashamed when they're shown what the Nazis were doing at camps. Most had no idea.
