Here you go - Mallard. World land speed record holder for a steam locomotive - 126 mph (that's 201.6 kph) which still stands.

Sexiest thing on two rails.

unfortunately Mallard is no longer operational and is in the railway museum in York, England.

There are still members of the LNER 4-6-2 A4 "Pacific" class locos still steaming, though, the "Sir Nigel Gresley" (named after the class's designer), for one.

A1 "Peppercorn" class "Tornado" - LNER 4-6-2 finished in 2008, the most recent steam engine built.

Recently pulled a scheduled service on the Carlisle line

Then, of course, there's the other famous LNER "Pacific" class locomotive, the LNER Class A3 4472 Flying Scotsman, also designed by Sir Nigel Gresley.
