When I play this on guitar, I sing 'Hey Dude' instead of 'Hey Jude'. The way I see it, it's a song about comforting one of your mates and encouraging him in his time of trouble. 'Jude' could only be sung sincerely to someone actually called Jude (not to mention it should have been Jules), and this way I can sing it to any of my mates and it can still be personal.
Beatallica's version was also called 'Hey Dude', but the lyrics in that were mainly cheezy metal cliches, whereas I like to sing it with the original, non-ironic lyrics.
