That's not what I'm talking about. I mean how does the death note decide which name is a person's real name in the event that a single person has more than one name. Like how some people have a stage name or a writers name or even just nicknames.

Like Kira couldn't kill L because that wasn't his real name, but how do you decide what is and isn't a person's real name? Especially with those who have denounced their birth name and decided to go by a name of their own choosing?
