How can I live forever /b/? I am studying science but I do not

The stories and information posted here are artistic works of fiction and falsehood.
Only a fool would take anything posted here as fact.

How can I live forever /b/?

I am studying science but I do not know where to specialise into for the best chance of immortality.

Something along the lines of cellular degradation.

I think OP meant live forever, not die sooner.

Commit a horrible enough act so that people will forever make reference to you.

As you know, when a cell splits in two, its chromosomes are altered or shortened slightly.

The cells have what are called "telomeres" which primary purpose is to be cut off when this splitting happens. It acts like the little plastic cap on your shoe laces to prevent fraying.

The telomeres are eventually used up at around 50-60, and this is what causes aging to happen excessivly, as cells can not regenerate or divide without damaging themselves.

Now that you know about telomeres, let's talk about different ways of being immortal.

1.
You should also know that cancer makes it so that telomeres aren't used up.

Yep, the key to immortality is getting cancer.

Ofcourse, as we all know, cancer is very bad, as it causes an excess of cell growth and multiplication.

The key to biological immortality, as you're attempting to refer to, is being able to cause cancer to not kill us, while at the same time, letting it do its thing and letting it save the telomeres.

2.
If getting cancer isn't your thing, try getting a way to add lengths of DNA onto your telomeres.

This will be temporary, ofcourse, but it will prevent aging. (theorized, not proven)

3.
Lobsters have not been seen to age.

If you're more into genetic engineering, then isolate the gene, series of genes, or whatever the fuck makes lobsters not age.

Alter it so that it can be used in humans

Implant whatever it is into a human

Boom. Lobster-human-immortal.
>>
Best chance for getting immortality is biological engineering. Specialize in genetic engineering.

I think it's more along the lines of rewriting your cells to behave in a cancerous manner, not just turning them into cancer cells, or giving yourself legitimate cancer. Because legitimate cancer cells are just cells that lack the code to self-terminate (amongst other things). Some of them don't even do their original jobs, they just exist and eat up resources. The last thing you want to be is a fast-burning, regenerative blob that can't perform osmosis or regulate heat energy. In fact, you would want to be incredibly careful as to how you modify all of the tissues in the body, because a mere imbalance or oversight could result in a homeostatic catastrophe.

It's more of replicating the act of "preserving" the telomeres, as well as the integrity of your DNA, shell and all. Space rays that make it through the atmosphere, and local radiation can still give you cancer if you're horribly unlucky. CRISPR and the advent of artificial coding sequences like "X" and "Y" for DNA are probably avenues that OP would want to look into.

That and nanotechnology. Maybe a little bit of bionic innovation.

Thanks.
But notice how I gave multiple ways of getting immortality.
>>
All that biology shit is too hard, just cook up some really good scanners and computers and we can developing a mind uploading process.

I noticed, I just thought that there may be less resistance when it comes to the rest of society, if OP decided to divine an elixir of life, than scare the normies by being a lobster-human hybrid.

I also don't want to encourage people to give themselves real cancer.

Figure out a way to make dna not lose so much data over time. Like having a snapshot of dna taken as a baby and stored digital ly, then havingbpople come for DNA "repairs" or something like that in which their original DNA is restored.

PhD in biochemistry here

As other anons have mentioned. Fucking around with cell death is tricky. Cells dieing is a good thing. Your skin naturally cycles through cells, so does your blood, the lining of your intestine and stomach etc. There are many ways in which cells purposely ending themselves is vital to your health.

Also, turning off a cells ability to kill itself is a great way to lead towards a cancer like state.

TLDR: Immortality though biochemical means will be very tricky.

Your not. Even if some other scientist find a way to reverse aging, with a 0.01% chance of daiyng each year you have a 36% chance of survival. And these numbers will decrease. Just some basic statistics.
>>722801109
The sciences on what this anon posted are all sound and you should really do a quick search. Like now. Telomeres, cancer telomerers and for genetic engineering i think you should search for crispr9. Crispr/case9 is a really neat procariotical dna structure that is ofworldly precise in gen editing and crazy cheap. Last i checked, i could put my hands on it for 1000 dolars (would be useless without a lab though). Just so you have an idea, cosmic radiation makes your computer ram operations orders of magnetude less precise (one byte of 250mb each hour will be altered as a result of cosmic rays)

>>722806952
36% survival rate to a 1000 years of age sorry
