>>722780468
True story, when I was in second year (so about 13) I used this cartoon as inspiration for a creative writing piece because I couldn't think of anything. It was really shit.
All-time favorite.
/b/ is much too jaded to ever appreciate Farside. You're wasting your time OP.

>>722790051
Pretty sure 4chan destroyed itself. I actually think most of the Trumpism is coming from offsite.

>>722779807

>>722790466
Why wouldn't 4chan like Trump? Seems like the political views align pretty well.
It's not like there aren't any liberals or SJW types on 4chan, but by and large they're ridiculed in favor of a more politically and socially right-wing perspective.
I wouldn't have expected any of the other candidates (especially Hillary) to be popular on 4chan.
>>722779807
Maybe the best thread I've ever seen on here
who's got the one with the bear in the crosshairs pointing at the other bear? i've got that one on a Tshirt
I'm so glad this thread is here
>>722791054
I think he's fucking retarded and he's gonna fuck our shit up.
I like net nuetrality. Keeps muh packets flowing.
I donate to the ACLU and EFF because they protect basic rights.
We have the right to be disgusting subhuman monsters. Trump is the kind of stupid that threatens this right.

I don't know about anyone else here, but I grew up with these books in the coffee table. It's very simple humor, and honestly best for kids.
So ya gotta think like a kid, just take it at face value
i remember gettin far side at a book fair in middle school, do they even have book fairs anymore?
>>722779807
i cant stop
>>722793430
Nigga they don't even have books anymore.
>>722791054
It's not that "4chan" doesn't like Trump, he's obviously pretty popular here, especially with /pol/. But here's the thing:
/pol/ is usually like your white trash neighbors. You'd never invite them to parties, they're loud, smelly, obnoxious, and prolly deal meth on the side. But, in the end, as long as you do your thing and let them do theirs, most of the time they just say stupid shit and occasionally get too rambunctious at their Klan meetings they have in the woods.
Then there was "/pol/" during the election.....
/pol/ during the election was anything but harmless. They were aggressive, had seemingly limitless manpower, up to 10 (!) pro-Trump or anti-Hillary threads on the board at any one time, and every one of these threads would seem to hit bump limit no matter how asinine or effortless the OP was. They'd even leak into other threads and find excuses to link back to one of theirs.
I don't know about you, but that's like coming home one day and finding out those mostly harmless white trash neighbors somehow became Narcos overnight. It doesn't add up, and even though it was rather obvious CtR was also active on-site at the same time, whoever or whatever was using the banner of /pol/ made their little astroturfer campaign look like an under-funded joke.
tl;dr Yeah Trump is popular around here, but take the exact level of support you may perceive for him with a grain of salt.
>>722793615
thats what i was gettin attt

Let's make one thing clear: having a president that's anti-PC, anti-feminist, and anti-immigration is like a dream come true. Not only that, but he takes action.
I honestly mainly just wanted him to win to see the liberal tears (which were even nummier than expected), but he was by far the best candidate.
You sound like a whiny libtard.
>>722786614
fag
>>722794732
Let's make one thing clear: our current President is anti-intellectual, dangerously narcissistic, and hilariously easy to manipulate. Not only that, but he has chosen the richest most craven cabinet in US history.
You honestly mainly just elected him out of retarded spite, because he is one of the few people who could honestly be said to be a worse choice than fucking Hillary Clinton the world-class corporate whore.
You sound like a huge dumbass.
>>722795836
This is a far side thread, not a pouting thread

The far side was basically Rick and Morty 20+ years ago. I loved reading these as a kid. Maybe I'm just fucked up, or maybe I just saw how fucked up things are. meh. I'm ok with this.
>>722795836
Still sound like a whiny liberal.
That's the only kind of person who would prefer Hillary Clinton other Trump.

Net Neutrality was not what it seemed. It was like the "Patriot Act". The Patriot act had nothing to do with patriotism and actually took away rights. Likewise net neutrality did nothing but give the government control over the internet.

On 26 February 2015, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) ruled in favor of net neutrality by reclassifying broadband access as a telecommunications service and thus applying Title II (common carrier) of the Communications Act of 1934 as well as section 706 of the Telecommunications act of 1996 [75] to Internet service providers.

You're doing God's work, OP. Thanks so much for this thread. I have hard copies, but no digital.
Anybody have the elephant drinking at the bar (I'm sure there's a few)?
Have it saved somewhere but, can't find it on Google.
>>722799014
They ruled in favor of net neutrality, because it had been that way for as long as the internet was around already.
They didn't create net neutrality with that ruling. They maintained net neutrality that already existed.

eat shit faggot far sides the shit
no trips either homo

>>722800134
>>722785947
The far side is either, you get it, or don't. It's not exclusive to any type of community. That is the brilliance of Gary Larson. I think he was a big part of how all of us grew our sense of humor. I remember as a little kid I would read all of TFS books before I would go to sleep, that and those Garfield fat cat 3 packs.
>>722799463
Sort of, but it also sets precedent. That's a good step.
>>722799659
No, just internet providers didn't really have bandwidth. They were sharing it with telephones and just added it on. There was no way you could download gigantic files. Nothing to stream, no technology that could even handle that size of date transfer, not to mention the infrastructure.
Anyway, the FCC doesn't really matter if an actually important institution decides otherwise. The Supreme Court. Congress. It's dangerous to allow Republicans such a strong hold in our government. One of the biggest fears is they try to mess with something hardly any of these old fucks understand because corporations. That we gave them so much power is a testament to how shitty Democrats have become. They are literally promoting communist / anti-first amendment / political violence values.
>>722796228
fun fact, they didnt have an actual name for that part of a stegosaurus and it became the actual word.

You're confusing "public utility" with "net neutrality". The internet had been neutral for all that time despite not being considered a public utility, largely just because corporations and governments didn't really have a handle on the internet. ISPs doing shady things in favor of particular corporations was a relatively recent thing that also went under legal discussion years before the FCC ruling.
So yeah, that ruling didn't really change anything, but that's because the net was already basically neutral.
>>722800622
>>722799880
Good point.
>>722800095
Let's be clear: Monty Python at its best is absolutely hilarious. But even the guys involved admit that it was hit-and-miss.

>>722800095
I'm referring to Monty Python's Flying Circus.
The movies were all solid (though Holy Grail is notably the most silly and generally more popular with Americans than Brits). But each episode of the Flying Circus has great skits that are incredibly memorable and endlessly quoted... and skits that are kind of just stupid and silly.
Humor is subjective, but there's clearly more to certain skits than others. Similar to how certain Far Side comics are pretty clever and even edgy while others feel a bit more... I dunno... like syndicated comic strips.

>>722802316
I agree with you, but the point is, if you're used to seeing something filtered to all its best stuff, when you see it in its whole it might seem like it's kind of overrated, or not as good as you thought.
I was using that as an example for why something great (like Monty Python or The Far Side) might not seem a good as you remembered when looking back on it.
But they're still great and are remembered as such for a reason.
>>722799813
