I can understand where you're coming from, and I agree to an extent. As long as you take that pride in your past and use it to move foward, there's nothing wrong with that. Other cultures do it too. Black Pride is more about culture than it is about racial identity. It's more comparable to celebrating German Culture, or American Culture (Fourth of July, etc etc). The reason 'black pride' is a thing is because of the destruction of the culture of slaves who were brought here from Africa. Not only were many cultures destroyed by slavery, but there were such poor records kept of where people came from and, with state lines having been drawn and redrawn countless times, most black people would have difficulty trying to find out what their culture was/is. So they celebrate the only real unifying cultural trait they have left, which is their racial identity.
