There are probably a very, very few "legitimately trans" people who just always felt from birth that they were mentally the opposite of their biological sex.

But the vast majority of trans people are just body dysmorphics, transvestic fetishists, or confused gay people. The last category is especially true for many FTM trans--"butch" lesbians have almost entirely disappeared, because society now convinces them they're trans. Around 80% of people who think they're transgender have their feelings of gender dysphoria disappear naturally by their early 20s--IF they haven't ruined themselves with physical surgery or serious hormonal changes. Not coincidentally, the brain isn't finished developing until one's early to mid 20s.

If someone thinks they're trans--fine. Don't encourage or discourage it; just explain the facts--including the fact that there's an 80% chance they'll feel like perfectly normal cisgender people by their 20s. Encouraging hormones or surgery at a young age is ill-advised given this--maybe hormone blockers would be fine, to delay puberty & give more time to decide.

well said man. personally I like androgyny so day-to-day I am. not going to cry cause some random person I'll never see again said different to who I KNOW I am, which is just myself i.e. long hair, girls clothes, make-up, voice etc etc and then i still enjoy fishing, football, philosophy, seeing bits of the world. at social events, im all about dresses and heels. where im gendered correctly. so wgaf.

trans peeps forget context quite willingly and also seem to place an extra-ordinary amount of value on gender. it really isn't that important. health, discovery etc is more important of which gender is a subsumed under.

can't wait for the trans movement to be done and over with so it can just be a normal functioning part of the day-to-day.

As I said, I'm sure there are a small percentage of "legitimate trans" people among transsexuals/transgenders, who just always clustered with the opposite sex mentally, emotionally, etc.--probably even in brain anatomy (yes, the brain is sexually dimorphic).

Schizophrenia, psychosis and transgenderism all occur at the same rate. The difference being we put the first to on haloperidol to prevent them from telling the world that they are Napoleon Bonaparte and that Trump made Lena Dunham install cameras in everyone's teeth to spy on them.
