Thinking of getting
Sennheiser HD 598
and
Edifier R1700BTs

any thoughts. dont know to much about audio splooging
>>
>>722191075
>Sennheiser HD 598
I have a pair. They´re like sex when it comes to ergonomics and long sessions of listening. I occasionally EQ bass a bit, but any audiophile probably wouldn't do the same.

They are open as fuck though and when I¨'m running fans in my apartment or when my neighbours dog outside is barking I can hear this clear as the day. I would even talk to friends with these on my head because they basically don't block out any sound.

btw. try to get a hold of the black ones, they're usually cheaper.

I have a pair of momentum over ear and a pair of beyerdynamics also. The momentums cut of sounds greatly but are too tight for long time sessions, good for plane rides (i fly a lot). The beyerdynamics are great for bassheavy music so I used them for work (noisy office). I wish the latter was a bit tighter and more closed though.

not a clue. I only heard about this brand when I was looking for chinese speakers some point back.

from the name Ill guess they are bluetooth which kinda implies your comparing apples and pears...
>>
>>722192747
>>722192143
oh nevermind, i thought you were comparing the two.

yes I heard these in store. I can't remember but theres a couple of models of these speakers. plus some chinese knock of brand that looks and sounds the same.

I like a bit bass and the ones with smaller drivers were kind of useless. I think they were even cheaper but sounded better. I strongle recommend you to head to a store somewhere and try with your favorite music.

I ended up not buying any and got a bose bluetooth speaker instead. Its kind of shit for bass but it emulates the sound in a way. Plus its portable (yet again, I fly a lot)

If someone is looking for a Great bluetooth earphone i would suggest Blueant mini pump 2. ...It's made by an australian company.

I received it as a gift and tbh i wasn't expecting much from it sq wise. However,it just exceeded my expectations. It just sounds way too good for an BT earphone.I've owned other great earphones like Trinity delta, havi b3,ath-ckr9 so i know what a good earphone sounds like.

The earphone is Neutral and bass shy.Vocals are the star of the show combined with that expansive soundstage that never sounds congested. The midrange frequencies have a weight to them and don't sound thin as one would expect.Timbre is great aswell.Violins, guitars, piano's etc sound like they should.Treble is great and i don't hear any shrills. It sounds natural.

Excellent for Pop,Orchestra,Jazz. While not the best choice for genres like hip-hop,edm,dubstep.

Kinda, I had a pair of miles Davis tribute headphones that were fucking great. I miss them

Absolutely an audio gear slut here. Though I have put way more energy and $ into my HT system than I have headphones. I just make sure cans are good enough for me.

For cans I've got Phiaton PS210's for my earbud fix, which are sortof open back so I can hear around me. Grado SR60s for the big cans, which are like 7 yrs old and need replacing. I just tried on a few new pairs of Grado's 2 weeks ago and think ill jump up to the 225s soon.

For the HT setup its all paradigm, with an anthem MRX710 receiver. I can go into more detail if anyone gives a shit.

Audio engineer and audiophile.

I hate Sennheisers. They're so hollow and have pretty much no presence. It's like all the instruments are loosely floating around. I want tight shit.
>>
>>722194050
There isn't much of one, but if you really want to hear the difference you'll need a pretty powerful set-up.

However, it's important to note that most torrents that claim 320KBPS are actually CD quality (180kbps) ripped at 320kbps. This diminishes the FUCK out of the quality, but these retard pirates don't understand. Check your torrents to see if it mentions CD rip, in which case it should be 180kbps. If you're still not sure, see if there's a 320kbps version available online. If not, you can bet your ass it's bullshit.

Those are both horrible for mixing. At least for me. But what do I know, I've only been doing it professionally for years. Anyways, I use Beyerdynamics.

I also get paid to compose, produce, engineer, etc. Plus I make speakers in my free time.

I also find the Senns to just not do it for me. I tried some Audeze's (spelling) and the open backs were stellar, but 600 for fucking headphones is dumb unless its your ONLY hobby, which for me it isn't. That's why I'm leaning towards the Gradon SR225s for $ to quality. I just don't like how Grado's wear out so easy. I added breakaway cables to my damn SR60s just to keep them going another year or two.

Hey guys, amateur sound engineer here. Not a super picky audiophile but I do care about owning decent equipment.

I've owned a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50x's for a few years. They're a decent pair of cans but they are noticeably colored in the low end and the closed-back design really hurts the soundstage. I'm looking at getting a new pair of headphones that I can use for both mixing and casual listening. I do listen to a lot of electronic music but I'm not a mindless basshead; I'll take tight, controlled bass over artifically boomy thumpy headphones any day. I'm willing to spend a couple hundred here.

Are the ATH-M70x's any good? I've read some reviews and looked at the frequency response charts and they seem to have a flatter tone overall; however, they still have the same closed-back design. I'm also looking at the AKG k712's. I know AKG has a bit of a reputation for being on the thin side when it comes to bass, but I've heard that the k712's have very tight and controlled presence in the bass area without being too overbearing. The open back design is a plus too. Any thoughts? I'm open to just about any brand except Monster's trash.

me too, i did a shit ton of research, basically settled on the Senn MSR7's. Thought i'd love flat sounding cans. Went to a tech market in Taiwan and tried them on, 20 minutes later, thoroughly underwhelmed. Ended up going with the ATH M50x. I reckon it's a pretty good can for a first one. But if what is written online is to be believed, any good cans sound good to newbies.

Except the MSR7 apparently. Hated its flat sound
>>

>>722196173
You can't just tell a newbie to jump to speakers. If his room is a shit listening environment and he knows nothing about acoustic design, even the best speakers can sound far worse than a pair of headphones.
>>

Hm. Interdasting. I was thinking it'd be neat to build (not try to market) an insane contraption where you've got something like a 5.1 setup, with a couple smaller mids behind your ear, and two tiny horns up front, and bonus a mini bass driver on the headband facing down through your skull.

It'd be a lot of speakers and work to get them all going right together, but it'd be fun too try out. Could listen to old Pink Floyd quad versions of their albums no one has heard in 30 years too.

I have the hd280s. Pretty good for a starter, but far from neutral. moderate comfort, a bit tight on the clamping force. good isolation. bassy, slightly recessed highs.

if that's all you can spend on a pair of cans, either will be fine for production-- just know there's better, more neutral cans outhe there.

Well, I guess technically turtle Beach tried to do that with their gaming headphones but they're not great. I feel like that wouldn't work too well though since they're so close to your ear.

hobbyist producer/ audiophile.

my current setup is a Scarlett 2i2 & first gen Beyerdynamic T1. pretty good. excellent soundstage and low end extension. only real problem is that they bleed a tremendous amount of sound.

I work in a fabrication shop, and its not acceptable to wear headphones and/or listen to music or podcasts while we work. It is however, completely fine and often required to wear earmuffs when're someone jumps on a loud machine.

So I'm thinking I should build a set of Bluetooth headphones into the casing of my earmuffs, and no one will be the wiser.

He doesn't is the problem. Based on 3 pairs now, he gets them, brags about them for a couple weeks, then starts complaining and doesn't use headphones for a while. Then he buys a more expensive one and the cycle repeats.

Eventually maybe he'll buy some so expensive that they actually can do all the things he initially thinks they can, but for the money he's spent, he could have had headphones that did that already.
>>
>>722198287
I've got these and Q701s. Q701s sound a bit better, but the fucking headband is so bad on them that I can feel the imprint in my skull an hour later. K7XXs win for headband alone.
>>
>>722197284
There is still the idea that since most ppl are listening to their music on crappy apple headphones, if you want to make your shit sound as good as possible to the kids who will buy it, you should mix on crappy apple headphones, rather than perfectly flat monitors in a studio, an environment which no one will ever listen to your music in.

Still not sure how I feel about that. I mean I get it, but... damn.
