apartment living
and I wouldn't say it's easier, it has it's own distinct challenges compared in 'regular' gardening
It is less strenuous to pot plants than to till or rake the earth I suppose, but you usually need to water potted plants more often, they are also more vulnerable to temperature swings and can be more susceptible to diseases, depending on what exactly your container system is.

They are not working under someone, they are masters of themselves. By your definition they are more free than anyone with a job. It is a narrow and self-centered view to put personal freedom above all else. It will leave you alone and wanting something you have closed off to yourself.

>>722151740
I went into sales after that, which was much better. But our store is dying so my sales numbers started dropping and I transferred departments again before I quit. Getting close to quitting again. Yfw you realize capitalisms fundamental principle relies on the vast majority of people creating a surplus that is extracted by the few people on top. You will never get a fair wage in capitalism because you always have to produce more than you get paid.

They're not free since they don't have food, water, or shelter provided to them, due to capitalism's existence. Capitalism is their master. What would be truly free, yet somewhat similar, would be a NEET.
Why do you call it personal freedom? Freedom should be for everyone, not just yourself.

Correct. Capitalist economists and Marxists agree on that. Wages are not based on the product made, but are based on the minimum amount you can pay a person without him leaving the job or starving to death.

Considering there will be less and less people needed as technology progresses the system is bound to collapse in on itself.

We're already seeing it happening. Wages have been stagnant since the 70s. Inequality and poverty are rising to unprecedented levels. Anger and frustration of the general public are starting to dismantle the democratic process.

Yet systemic critique to capitalism is a big no-no in established american politics. This will not end well. The last time capitalism spectacularly crashed in on itself it was only saved by giving in to socialist demands with the new deal (94% income tax over ~350k earned, now thats just ebil gommunism) and a world war to jumpstart the economy.

Yeah comparing the standard of living of the most powerful economy in the world with venezuela of course the USA will always come out on top, but that doesn't mean USAs standard of living couldn't be better under a different system. People tend to forget that communism wasn't all failure all the time, the soviet union transformed a rural, illiterate, war-torn country full of what was basically slaves into the second most powerful economy with comparable standards of living to the US in the 50s and 60s over the course of just a few decades. The fact that it started falling apart after that just means there are lessons to be learned, something that capitalism seems to keep forgetting about itself, what with the gradual dismantling of the very policies that saved the country after the great depression, as well as the movement that forced their implementation by the wealthy elite.

Yeah, that's the Marxist-Leninist/Stalinist form of communism that was practiced in the soviet union, china and others. It's not what Marx intented communism to end up being, such a system was only supposed to aid in the transforming of society into true communism.

And lets not forget that capitalism has only existed for a few hundred years, for most of humanities history we have been living in, surprise, communes that shared their resources more or less equally, with various ways to organize distribution. It's those very roots of humanity that Marx tried to pick up and adapt to a modern society.

but it was actually capitalism, because they didn't even reach socialism
the soviet union and china were capitalist: mixed economies are capitalist
socialism is the elimination of capitalism
those countries did interesting things, but you have to be honest about what they did

And well, to use a crass metaphor, it's kind of like being in a concentration camp in nazi germany and being told "compared to the jews your group has the highest standard of living in this camp".
You shouldn't accept an unfair system that's so vulnerable to corruption and abuse just because you have it relatively good compared to the rest of the world. There should at least be a debate about the alternatives and their merits, but such a discussion is utterly non-existant on a relevant scale, and quite inentionally so.

I'm not even specifically comparing it to the US here. And yes a new ideology would be nice. But until one shows up. Capitalism is the best we've got for our day and age.
And you seem to neglect that those rural illiterates were just turned into slaves under the guise of freedom of working for the state. They still remained just as illiterate and rural as they were before and if anything their living conditions probably got worse under the regime because their property was no longer their own but they still had to work it. So when they harvested their crop they didn't get a share of their work. They got what the state decided they deserved.

Yeah I noticed, Martin?
Mine's Amaan Ver or AV, at least on here. But I've seen you around a bit.
>>
>>722157465
Precisely my point. Greed is inevitable and true communism can never manifest in reality.
>>722157527
How long does your NS last? 2-3 years?

Sometimes I check stairsync/imagesync and see your name. I don't have any plugins installed, but that's how I can still see it.
Out of curiosity, what state are you in? I've never been north of NY before, since I normally travel to the west coast, as that's where all my relatives are.
>>722157614
Except what I said was about how communism is the most efficient way for people to be greedy.
>>
>>722157697
Except it's being traded to the guy working.
>>
>>722157665
Just under two years. Fuck dude.
>>722157697
You're using it represent value of items that you are trading. That's literally currency.
>>722157766
I'm not denying that by any means dude.

>I'm not even specifically comparing it to the US here. And yes a new ideology would be nice.
And how is a new ideology going to come up if capitalism is seen as the ultimate system and critique of it or even suggesting an alternative is possible is met with hostility, ignorance and propaganda?

>And you seem to neglect that those rural illiterates were just turned into slaves under the guise of freedom of working for the state. They still remained just as illiterate and rural as they were before and if anything their living conditions probably got worse under the regime because their property was no longer their own but they still had to work it.

At the time of the Bolshevik Revolution, 37.9 percent of the male population above seven years old was literate and only 12.5 percent of the female population was literate.
During the 1950s, the Soviet Union had become a country of nearly 100% literacy.

>You do realise that Marx's truest ideology would imply that everyone would be selfless and not have the flaws that people do.

Communism doesn't require you to be a selfless angle, not wanting to be exploited by people with more money than you is quite the opposite.

>You're also confusing communism ,which is an ideology based on a whole state, with Communalism.
This is just wrong on so many levels. True communism is a stateless societey where the resources are distributed equally, meaning no one party gets to keep a majority share of goods or services produced. This is true for what Marx imagined and for how people lived thousands of years ago.

>That's crass and a poor metaphor in general.

Yes it is crass. But i meant to illustrate that capitalism is a system that inherently relies on exploitation. What i suggest is that we need to get the illusion of capitalism being the only viable alternative out of the general publics heads so that a constructive and honest debate about the future of capitalism can be had.

It doesn't function like currency though.
You can't have a free market based around currency that can only move either from or towards the government, never between people.
