Perfect. Spyderco got thier qc right hot the m390 heats. This is the one made for bento box. Im honestly not a huge fan of the blue scales. Still figuring which direction to go. Wood or g2? Which ever i want scales that have a more round profile. The stock pm2 scales are square and flat.

Most definitely, it has related drawbacks but steels like M390/20cv, CPM290v/110v, ZDP-189 etc all have more carbon than even the highest plain carbon steel knives which usually cap out at about 1.5% which is uncommon.

So far vg 10. It seems to be the best of both worlds. But that could be because i really love my boker urban trapper. No matter what knife i buy im always drawn back to it. But from what ive experienced a properly heat treated d2 is stellar. I know it rusts and shit but ive never had a problem out of it. It holds one hell of an edge. It takes a beating. Never chipped or bent. But i figured its time to get into some fancier steel. Ive been leaning more towards 3v after watching the insane punishment miller bros put their 3v fixed blade through.

I have thousands of dollars of knives from Busse to swaprat to benchmade and Spyderco and I'm starting to get into the fake ones because for a long time I believed in the myth of "hard use" knives. The reality is being an outdoorsman and a 38-year-old man who frequents campsites and fishing trips and what not I have never in my life had to put a knife under such pressure that it would be needed the labels such as hard use.

That fake Strider is by far the best out of the three the quality is insane and almost direct replication of the original. Super comfortable to hold very solid lock up id suggest looking on eBay for one third around 20 bucks

I could never. I love this randall. My grandpa had it made in the late 60's/early 70's. Gave it to me when I was 12 15 years ago. Both of us used it for what it is, a tool. I see some of these old randalls in pristine condition and I can't even help but wonder if anyone ever even used it it. And if not, what's the point?

Yeah I just read up on D2 steel and it's use for knives is questionable it has several alloying agents in it and because the industry allows for acceptable variance in the percentages of those agents the steel is objectively unreliable plus I don't think chromium(one of the alloying metals) should be present in a knife and nor should nickel(another alloying metal found in D2 tool steel) because they are used to make stainless steel and the problem with them is you lose some of the functionality. A good knife's steel would be high carbon and relatively low if any alloying agents. 1095 carbon steel is objectively much better.

I disagree. I have both 1095 crovan and japanese d2. And the jap is superior. Yes it depends on who made the d2. But in general d2 is stronger, much more rust resistant, and holds a shave sharp edge. 1095 is a bitch to get shave sharp.
