Then told me to "wrap them up, they're good" "but-" "no, don't worry about it."

Same woman complained when the tip of a cone I was gonna hand out the window that she's made didn't look just right, so she pushes the fucking tip over with her bare fucking finger.

Lots of shit happened that first day. She's gone now, though. Life's been relatively clean in the hood, since.

You start as a crew member and establish yourself as a fantastic worker, then you aim to work in a higher position more befitting to your interests. Butcher and boning does nothing at a store level, but you'll be comfortable with raw meat so that's good.

I make $43 and change now (hard to say for sure because my shift moves around from PM to graveyard and we get a different differential for each), and I KNOW the nurses make more than me straight out of school as plain RNs. I'm a tech with advanced training (CT) and get paid more because of it, plus my seniority, but jeesus... this shit is why people don't move out of CA. There's a lot of bullshit involved with living here, but I'm not really willing to do a 50% pay cut to move somewhere with 2% lower sales tax and slightly fewer mexicans, you know?

RNs are approximately 2-year degrees (same for rad techs and respiratory therapists). The lower-level nursing degress are LVNs and LPNs (same thing, just depends on the school you go to), and they're like about a year's schooling.

And seriously--don't do that shit. A lot of private vocational schools like to hype the crap out of them, but you get the absolute shittiest nursing jobs possible. Lots of hospitals just don't hire them at all...because why should they? The real nursing jobs require an RN by law, so they're not going to hire you for that. And the lesser jobs can be done by CNAs with a 3 month training certificate, so why pay your ass more to do the same thing? Bite the bullet and do the whole RN program and get paid literally twice as much to do less shitty tasks.

It's the same with lower-level certifications in other healthcare jobs. Don't EVEN pay for a limited license xray program. You'll end up with a $50,000 student loan and $15/hour job (here in CA, which is apparently double most of the rest of the country) doing xrays on feet in a podiatrist's or backs in a chiropractor's office for 8 hours a day. Go to a community college, graduate debt free, and make twice as much doing all sorts of crazy shit in a hospital...everything from some asshole showing up in the ER for a cough he's had for 6 months to surgery on crazy traumas to CT scans on crazy 22 year old chicks who literally swallowed a toothbrush.

It can be rewarding as fuck. I got a formal certification in the CT scan modality, and because I was the only one in the dept with one, my manager put me in charge of a state-required certification program. Big boost in prestige and my yearly eval (which meant I got a significant raise for the coming year), plus got to work directly with the radiologist (our doctor in charge of the whole dept), who is a fun guy. Very happy with all that shit, all told.

At the McDonald's I worked at, they had the amount of eggs you needed pre-cooked set to a certain throughout different times. 5am - 7am = 2 eggs, 7am - 9am = 6 eggs, 9am - 12pm = 4 eggs.
