Guitar thread. Show me your guitar
That is a beautiful jaguar, I have a strat with the same body and pickguard.
>>721712534
Nice choice, sunburst with tortoise looks good on everything.
Bumping. Where's my guitar bros at.
MIM Standard Strat and an Ibanez S420
>>721713004
My cheapo LP100
Also have a lawsuit era SG copy in the shed being refurbished.
>>721713004
Nice. My first guitar was an Ibanez, the neck felt great.
>>721712288
I've got a Squier VM Bass VI, same colors as your Jag.
Do you use the trem at all? I noticed no floating bridge.
>>721712288
>>721712911
>>721713199
I'm on a roll
>>721713199
Was my second guitar after my lawsuit era SG copy, felt great with a thin neck and 9 gauge strings, no pain what so ever..
>>721713248
Yeah a little. It's not really something that interests me so I usually keep it off but it is nice to have.
Did you guys learn on acoustic/classic guitar first?
My squier telecaster i was cleaning the pickguard
>>721713561
I learned electric first, honestly both has their pros and cons. Learning acoustic is more "traditional" but its harder and less rewarding. Starting oh electric is easier on your fingers and lets you get more sound.
>>721713680
Acoustic, but if you're looking at playing learn on what interest you most, that way you will stay interested longer.
If you wanna play metal or something eventually learn electric as it will interest you more.
If you wanna play classical or spanish learn acoustic, as that will interest you more.
>>721712288
>a Jaguar
>humbuckers
>>721713873
This. Actually wanting to play is very important while starting off as most quit early on due to finger pain or loss of interest.
>>721713056
For being a "cheapo" the thing has really proved it's worth at least for me. Haven't had any problems with it on stage or at practice
>>721714372
Epiphones are amazing for the price, I only call them cheapos cause they're cheap in price, in build quality they feel much more expenisve.
>>721714112
It has coil blending so while I can't get true single coil sound I can get lots of different sounds from one guitar. If I had more money to blow I definitely would have went with a Johnny Marr jag.
My dad, brother and I all play so we have a lot of guits....
>>721714638
That's a nice V, what model?
>>721714516
>I definitely would have went with a Johnny Marr jag.
I'm on a similar situation. My family told me to pick a new guitar because of reasons (I really earned/deserved it) and I got a Modern Player Jazzmaster (with humbuckers)... now I think a lot that I should've gone with the J Mascis Jazzmaster :/
>>721714876
its a dinky little first act guitar i picked up for $5 at a tag sale, debating whether or not i should throw nicer hardware on it and give it a fret leveling and make it a little travel guitar
>>721714881
Learn to love it man. It's always hard finding the perfect guitar but by just playing you learn to appreciate it a lot more.
Took some advice from /mu/. Is this a good rig for first time buyer? Right now I'm only using an amo for pracitce
>>721715148
Forgot pic
Nothing special here
>>721715199
The orange combo will make a great practice amp, they have great disortion too for a nice crunchy rock sound. You could even gig with it if the venue is miced
The squire strat. is also a great choice, you can make it sound decent with pretty much any music apart from your down tuned metal.
For a beginer learning your first chords and scales its great,
What music are you wanting to play eventually?
>>721715148
I'd say so. I hear good things about the classic vine squiers. Personally I would go try these out at a music store rather than ordering online but that's just me.
>>721715441
Classic vibe*
Too lazy to go take pics I play a 2012 les paul studio through an old marshall g100rcd. Sometimes use a joyo ultimate overdrive with it which is pretty much an OCD clone if I remember correctly.
>>721715199
Buy the amp used
>>721715133
yeah I already love it, I just need a new amp and I'll be complete!
(I'm playing with an Ibanez GTA10 that came with my first guitar lol)
I used to be good at guitar hero till it turned to shit
>>721715441
I wanna go to the music store, but the only one near me a local store owned and ran by a guy who I hear get's up in your business. I'm also autistic and will get myself fucked somehow. Are you expected to play something or can you just walk in and buy?
>>721716545
you can go in and tell them your budget and most places will be more than happy to help you find what you need or you can go in and just buy the shit and leave.
>>721716545
Dude fuck them just go in and tell them what you're looking for and they should be able to help. If you don't know what you're wanting just go in and play some of the axes until something feels right
Jackson Soloist.
My custom build...also weeb nation represent!
been playing for around 10 years and have always played les paul style bodies. I've been doing a lot more lead work in the past few years and am looking for a guitar with a little better reach up top. Something slimmer in the neck towards the body any recommendations?
Quilted maple gold plated custom les paul. I love this jewel. Tone is out of this world and plays like a dream.

I want to get one of these, it just looks cool. I'm just not sure the $2000 price tag is worth it
>>721721711
Only worth it if you have the cash to pay for it. And even then, maybe not. If you care the entry price on a guitar, you have to have an exit strategy to counter your entry position (can you make money on it?). Otherwise, it's just a toy or a tool. And you enjoy your time and opportunity with it.
Im thinking about selling my squier mustang so people wont make fun of me for owning one
>>721722102
Nah. Learn to play your guitar. Don't work yourself over about what other people plaay.
>>721722049
I have the money, I just don't know if it's a quality instrument. No shop around me carries them or is willing to order them. Also, I own 7 electric guitars ranging from first cheap strat to my Zappa SG to my Gretsch Tennesseean. I don't really ever plan on selling or getting rid of any my guitars

>>721722496
Then don't get rid of them. I've got 25 guitars and my greatest regrets are getting rid of past guitars. If you have funds, no, a Squier isn't that good if it's 1985 +. But it depends from there what you want to invest. Musicians Friend ships to you, no matter where you are.

Also effect pedals are meant for anything. For a little push, inspiration, have multiple sounds going (organ simulation), or to make crazy sounds out of A GUITAR.

If it makes you feel better I bought my Ibanez RG7620 when it was that or the Jem series 7-string guitar. Not many extended range guitars, and at a bargain for a grand. It happens..It's not worth 100 traded in..

No, it's backwards. They're so overpriced that only boring stupid yuppies have 'em. Remember how Jimi Hendrix got started? His Dad bought him a guitar, though he was poor. Forgot to mention... it's got a pickup in it, so it has this really evil, metallic sound when you plug it in a play with a lot of gain, since the nut and bridge are just made of rough steel bolts.
>>721728189
Or quit playing guitar, which is totally out of fashion. Guitar is good for classical, though, and people playing oldies, as a joke.

>>721721711
Headstock does not go with that body. What were they thinking??? Cool guitar, otherwise.
>>721728457
Why quit guitar? Pedals can be plugged into synths, drum machines, mics, bass, and even your phone. Hell even digital stuff... so might as well quit playing every instrument.
>>721728562
No, it's a controller. There are others. The Ableton Push 2 is quite nice. Guitars make noises nobody likes anymore. But it's fine for you to think it remains. But the guitar is quite dead :^)

>>721728741
I know there are faggots that will push analog, but digital is where it's at, if you want an AUDIENCE. But whatever. People never change in time. Remember when people thought only idiots would play electric guitars? Maybe not. Well, they did. But it turned out people liked the new sound. The same thing has happened. People are through with those old sounds.

One of the most overrated bands of all time. That's not to downplay them, just to say they're not the godlike beings a lot of people make them out to be.
Still a cool guitar, though.
>>721727073
I was gonna say the same as well but meh,
>>721729522
:^) And what is Wurlizter's annual sales?
And what brought on the rise of the Wurlitzer? :^)
(By your reckoning, since there's flute in a couple of rock songs the flute is back as the instrument of the people - I should hardly think so, and recommend learning a thing or two about reasoning - though it shall make you unlike your peers entirely, knowing things, and being discontented with life as one who goes along with it, the culture you will be surrounded with, it being a fraud constructed on hypocritical and fallacious reasoning).

However, you're stuck with an old-fashioned mindset. You're the sort that loves guitar, fine. But people used to love the organ too - old people, anyhow. People played it on the radio, live, for old people.

lots of decent epiphones in that price range, go out and try some, pick one that's most comfy.
also recommend looking into yamaha, dollar for dollar yamaha makes very very decent instruments.
>>721732214
For 200, you should get a voxvt 20x. They have a tube in the signal chain of the amp so they sound much better clean than any other solid state amp in your price range. The 20x has a better overdrive channel than the standard vox vt model. The X model is important if you plan on playing metal.

>>721732214
why does everyone buy these shitty metal brand amps? if you want quality get a fender twin reverb or a vox or something man, just becase they don't have 50 different effects doesn't mean they don't sound amazing compared to line 6 and their shit amps that every neckbeard guitarist whose favorite band is seether or nickelback plays
>no great professional guitarist uses this band
>inb4 name at least 3 worth while that do

If you have 400 to spend, you should save another 100 and pick up a Gibson Les Paul Faded Studio. I see them all the time on Craigslist for 500. Most people will negotiate with you for slightly less.

My friend had his friend over and he was like "my uncle has that same guitar." I was like "not this exact model, these are rare." Turns out the store I bought mine from had two in stock, his uncle bought one and I bought the other. I've since seen the other one sold on Craigslist.
I'm a huge fan of maple necks so I was stoked to get ahold of this Rhoads.

God these guitars were awful and everyone fucking had one
>>721733465
That's pretty cool wish I had one I too love maple fretboards

Jackson made a ton of RR24M guitars if you want a maple fretboard Rhoads. You can also get a maple neck off a Dinky or Soloist and put it on a Rhoads body.

quality over quantity
Poorfag here. My Jackson JS32T.
Strandberg Boden custom
I've got a Sterling AX40D and an Ibanez RG6003fm. My unpopular opinion is that Les Pauls are objectively shitty guitars. If you strip the status, history, and price from them, all that is left is a heavy bit of wood with shitty hardware and an awkward tone. Great if your ideal Friday night is looking up Greenday tabs and drinking Fireball.

Absolutely beautiful. I want the chance to play one so bad but I'll be shit out of luck probably forever as they're expensive and don't get stocked anywhere, especially in Washington where everyone is a hipster with a Telecaster.
They have a more budget friendly model coming out next month, hss, solid alder body with a pick guard, still has the endure neck profile, stainless frets and multi scale. And yeah there's not a lot of other strandbergs in WA, I think there's maybe 3 others registered on their site.
