I can't speak towards who believes in god or not, because America has no majority. I suppose christianity is the prominent religion (even though it is full of little sects, which if gauged individually they would no longer be the prominent religion), but there are tons of atheists, agnostics, Muslims, Buddhists, etc because America is a country full of immigrants.

Why the Hell do people do this? It is so ridiculous to come to America, generalize everything about it, and publicly complain. My ancestors emigrated to America two generations ago and integrated with this culture that we supposedly don't have. They learned English and bled in our wars for an opportunity to be "part" of this culture and country. Not anyone else's opinion on my own thoughts matter, but I really don't like hearing some ass-head assert that some self-righteous, idiot-filled, culture-less land is what my family was willing to die for...and more importantly, to build a life for.

Americans don't generally know very much about the current state of other countries and it's mostly because it doesn't feel relevant to us. But at least ignoring things we don't understand isn't as obnoxious as making ignorant statements about a place and people you don't comprehend?

If anyone wants to understand America or Americans, why don't you try to ask sincerely and politely and try to have a conversation instead of making sweeping generalizations and trying to compare this place to places it can't be compared to? A good neighbor meets his neighbor at the front door and introduces himself. Within that allegory: starting a thread like this is the equivalent of claiming to know that same neighbor by judging his lawn from your window.

Are you American? Because everyone else in the USA just calls this place America. Probably because between the continents of North and South America, only one country has "America" in its name. That would be...(wait for it) The United States of America. Nobody refers to anything in South America as just "America", it's just the way we have come to describe this place and is no different than any shortened version of a country's proper name being used for the sake of convenience. I legitimately don't understand what you're getting at. What do you mean? If this is going to be some attempt to point out how hypocritical or terrible Americans are because of Native American genocide, then that opens up a huge game of "Let's hold every citizen of their current nation accountable for everything that the various incarnations of their nation has done in its entire history until we realize that everyone has been someone else's bully at some point". That's a great game, but the indigenous people of America were mostly wiped out centuries before my family ever came here.
