Great music develops and flowers with a natural feeling, this just repeats chunks of riffs blasting an annoying rhythm in your head, with no character or sense of rewarded exploration. We were all 16 once but you gotta grow out of that shit. Also no metal thanks.

The problem is that any complex harmony tends to break the flow which is essential to Hip Hop style beats. So the complexity has to exist on another level - generally in the timbre and rhythm. Maybe Amon Tobin fits the description.

>>721130724
I'm actually saying this from experience, having tried to combine Hip Hop beats and classical harmony myself.
The problem didn't have anything to do with the subtleties of how you define Hip Hop. Rather, complex classical music relies on constantly changing emotion, while much of the power of Hip Hop beats comes from building up on a single emotion and "feel" (per track).
>>721131100
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fT1y0_9qpeY
this is masterpiece by bach. In my opinion Matthaus Passio is more dynamic and richer and deeper though. Here Karl Richter conducts Johannes Passio, slower than most conductors. I think Richter is spot on, such a massive piece as it is. I learned to understand more of it this way, and somehow slow tempo gives it more room to grow.
>>721131520
Experience is only as credible as how it's interpreted.
Also,
>emotion
>feel
.
How do you musically define these things?
>>721132028
>How do you musically define these things?

>>721132028
Sure, the fact that it's from experience doesn't make it any more credible, just saying how I got there.
Defining distinct musical emotions is something that 17th century scholars tried to do extensively. It's called the "Doctrine of the affections". But anyways, the existence of these affects is tangential to my main point, which is that emotional breaking and rebuilding is constantly heard in classical music, in the form of silence, key changes and tempo changes. A Hip Hop beat, on the contrary, only seems to become engaging if it's uninterrupted. It gains power from being surrounded by a single key and tempo, often using very few chords.
So these beats can and have been combined with some contemporary classical pieces in the Minimalist movement, but that's not exactly the embodiment of complexity in classical music.
So I'd say you can't combine Hip Hop beats with the complexity of classical music, though I certainly intend to try again.
>>721134578
If I take a hip hop song, and add 3 tempo changes, is it still hip hop?
What if I add 2 more, is it still hip hop?
What if I remove 3 tempo changes from a classical composition, is it still classical?
