Financially speaking I can't count on social security for retirement, but It's hard to get a job in the IT industry that pays well enough to put aside money for retirement or a 401k, forcing me to go back to school and get another 4 year degree to become a police officer in order to make ends meet, put my student loans on deferment and earn enough to support myself.

It is hard being a millennial but I think our generation will be remembered later as the 'hero' generation. Sounds stupid but hear me out. We're under far more pressure than our parents and grandparents were at our stage in life. A boomer could attend college paying an average equivalent to four hours a days wage. A millennial requires around 17 hours daily wage to pay for the same education. A boomer could buy a house at 21 years old with a job and a signature. Today it's much more difficult. We are entering the workforce in a period of Great Recession and that will ripple through out our careers making raises and promotions slower and harder to come by. Point is look at your great grandparents. They survived the Great Depression and thrived for decades after. They built the American dream. They were forced to save and wouldn't waste a thing. You all remember grandma hoarding the Tupperware they don't throw shit away. I think history will repeat itself with our generation. Already our generation is saving more and spending less than our parents and grandparents. We're depending less on the banks and credit and more on cold hard cash. Right now it sounds stupid but when your great grandpa was cutting rows of corn by hand at 15 years old no one said look at that kid he's gonna build the greatest country the world has ever seen. Kids today are doing things our parents couldn't or wouldn't. It's a new world and the dames rules don't apply. You tubers for example. Child labor laws don't apply. These kids are busting their asses and earning huge cash. Twenty years from now these same people will be business owners and may actually get out and vote. It's gonna be a hell of a show.

My millennial experience is that my life is already over. I've pissed away all of my money, I've lost my friends, my girlfriend is dead(long story) and I have nothing motivating me to move on in my life.
