One of our trucks was filled with like 10+bins and it was during the summer so it was hot as fuck. Some of the melons in there went bad and then entire truck smelled of rotten melons. Add the humidity and heat in the truck and it might as well have been a gas chamber. The smell filled up our side of the warehouse. I used to work as a plumber and no matter the ammount of shit or old piss that I smelled, the worst one by far is a full grease trap. It was from a hospital and usually if there is not a lot of stuff going in and it's a big trap (which it was), they dont drain the grease that often.

We had to change the trap that was getting old so a company was called to drain it with a special truck and a giant vacuum. The smell of rotten fat was the worst I ever had. MY FUCKING DOG FARTED SOMETHING SMART ENOUGH TO LOCK INTO US AND CONSIDER US A THREAT (or its parents).
It was too much, we evacuated the house and waited fifteen minutes there waiting for the smell to abandon the house and go haunt someone else. It did its job. We were left with the memory of that smell locked into our minds and souls.

This. I worked produce and encountered some of the worse smells of my life. Rotten pumpkin and shop vac full of molded onion peels are the worst things in life.

I've worked in shipping/warehouse/distribution at all levels and I've encountered some pretty funky stuff. My time at Dollar Tree has some standouts though.

Pickles were reliably awful when we got them in. They'd come over from China in 20 food containers, layered with Styrofoam to try to act as padding, which never worked. You'd always end up with a few dozen boxes near the bottom that had broken during shipping and leaked through to the floor. Had to chip out piles of rotten pickles, cardboard, glass and melted Styrofoam off the container floor.

The garlic was worse though. Holy fucking hell the smell of rotten, spoiled oil and pickled garlic that had been fermenting in a sealed, hot container for weeks on end still haunts me to this day.

Oh, and there was a constant rodent infestation in the food aisles the whole two years I was there. Like, every trap had at least a half dozen mice in it every other day. For two years. Wasn't uncommon to pick through a pallet and find a nest in the back corner.

tl;dr don't buy shit from Dollar Tree, its cheap for a fucking reason.

1. Dead bum roasting in the bushes off the 405 freeway in Westwood. It's was a strange sweet/rotten smell that I won't soon forget

2. Doing some work down in Vernon near the animal rendering plants. Large trucks move the carcass/parts to the plant and sometimes they get a bit drippy. One truck drove by and hit a pothole, ejecting a small puddle of grey goo on the pavement. I've never smelled a more pervasive odor in my entire life. I started heaving and my dad tossed his lunch right there, about 10'seconds after the splat. It was fucking horrid.

My ex's grandma, who is very old and very Chinese, went shopping and bought a big bag of pig feet. She forgot it in a storage closet under the stairs when something distracted her. Was preparing a chop of beef liver, when i cut into it and cut through a cyst of some sort. You ever wash human diarrhea shit down the drain with "orange" scented hand soap? It's a very interesting, intoxicating, and disorienting smell. I had an emergency shit that I had to do because this house has one bathroom and someone was using it. I ran to the basement and unloaded my chunky shit into the sink. Diarrhea has a very unique scent on its own, mind you - very different then, say, a solid "regular" turd. Diarrhea smells 'chamically'. In my panic, I forgot how hot vs cold worked so I was trying to wash shit down the drain with ice-cold water, simultaneously freezing my hands. I had some semblance of a moment of clarity and noticed some bath and body works hand soap on the shelf above. I started pumping the foam all over the tapioca pudding-like shit mass in the basin of the sink and used my bare hands to slop it all toward the drain. The scent hit my eyes and nose and I started gagging. I never figured out how to use the hot water faucet in my little adventure, so I spent about 3-5 minutes panicing, gagging, and fisting some soapy diarrhea into a washbasin with my freezing cold bare hands, hoping to christ that nobody came down into the basement to notice me.

This happened 4 years ago. I had a good friend that lived 2 streets over from my house whom I'd visit often to smoke weed and game with. He lived up the street from a really close family friend of ours who i'd see often on my way to his house. Sometimes i'd stop and say hi and hangout on her porch a bit then continue on my way.

This one night i was walking home and noticed this really bad stench that spanned from like halfway down the block to the end of the block. Shit was fucking rancid. Figured it was either a dead animal or the people doing construction up the street fucked some shit up.

The smell gets stronger and soon starts taking up the whole block. By the time that happened i had to take another route to his house and we had to find a new smoke spot since we couldnt even open up his windows to blow our weed smoke out of.

Fast forward a few weeks later. Im hanging out at my uncles house and he tells me the family friend that lived up the street from my buddy passed away and that they found her body late as fuck as she was rotting away. Thought to myself "damn thats sad" and carried on about my day not thinking about it.

Realized the smell was gone not long before my uncle told me about her corpse being found and it clicked in my head that I was smelling a rotting body in the middle of the summer. Like i said in the other post, i cant describe it to anything or any other dead animal ive ever smelled.

Few years ago, I was living in a rented house with one of my friends, we had an electricity meter that you need to top up with a card.

I'd gone away for a week, and as my friend was an absolute degenerate, I left him some cash for the meter, (100% sure he'd not use his own money and just buy weed)

On my return, no fucking power, and my friend had been staying with his ex for just under a week (never fucking told me) so his dumb ass decided it wasn't worth topping up the meter.

Opened the fridge, milk was the only thing in there besides some veg, was gone off, but kinda expected that.

Opened up the chest freezer and Jesus fucking Christ, at the bottom was a bag of brussel sprouts, some mixed veg and a tub of icecream.
Stunk like putrid shit mixed with bad eggs and corpses, it all hit me in one beefy guff as I opened the lid, and due to it being in there with all the melted water from the frost melting along with it, it had turned into a type of unholy soup.

I recoiled, wretched, and literally curled up into a ball in the corner covering my face and eyes. I can't even imagine corpses smelling worse.

Spent the next 30 mins gipping and spitting out bits of vomit, wishing for death.

I was cooking a deer shank on a smoker and had some beef fat from a steak in a little pan next to it to render down. I was going to inject it to keep it moist but it wasn't melting fast enough. I stuffed it in a coffee mug and threw it in the microwave for three minutes. When I came back in my house was filled with smoke, all the alarms were going off and the fat had formed a little black crusted volcano puffing out the most vomit inducing stench I've ever experienced in my life

I'm a beekeeper.
In the winter we store our empty honey boxes in sheds until we need them again in the summer. But because of this, we've facilitated the growth of a pest called wax moth.
wax moths invade empty honey boxes and eat the honeycomb, live in and reproduce inside the wax frames
now, they smell awful to clean out, but it's a bearable smell
but after scraping wax moth out of your honey frames for weeks because your shed got an infestation, you start to hate it more and more until you can smell wax moth when there is none
the smell itself is like a 4/10 but over time you smell it so much and so often it becomes a fucking 9/10

Not first guy but if you nick the stomach or intestines while you're field dressing it the smell can be pretty nasty, not the worst thing I've smelled but not pleasant either.
