See originally i was gonna take the neck off the lefty jazz and throw it on the thunderbird. Epiphone thunderbirds have such shit necks.

John Entwistle used to play em. A fender neck on a Gibson thunderbird. Called a FENDERBIRD.(pic related)

But what I really would like to do is get a maple Tele bass neck (left handed) and throw that on the thunderbird body.

It's my beginner intermediate set up sounds good anywhere no feed back very clean tones. I'm ready to move to the decimator pedal and grunge pedal with the 6505 head like yours and a full stack with possibly a boss looping station but that's like 3000 grand worth of gear I don't have right now.

I'm actually not unfortunately I had to take the budget option but it gets the job done for the band I'm in and the tone we have. Were a beat down hardcore band lol I don't think I really need a special rig until we record our full length but we have 1 ep out finishing a split we just recorded and were doing our 2nd ep by fall 2017 but I really wish I was trolling. Its decent but it's nothing compared to a tube amp.

Well we're not some shit ass breakdown band but our tone falls under hardcore beat down. I personally would much rather play in a brutal death metal band but I'm able to sneak in some shreds with the band I'm in now. Its just more geared towards hate mosh type of music

All in all I think line 6 spider 4 is perfect for our tone now and if we manage to promote ourselves and do a good job this time around with our split and 2nd ep I'll trade in my gear and use next year's refund to change my rig to something more appropriate I just don't want to invest in some bomb gear and be stuck in a beat down band that's not going anywhere. If we do good and we make moved and a full length is within in our reach through a label I will make the effort until then I'll keep my line 6.

I have a Jackson ps4 performer my guitar instructor customized before he died. He was an instructor and guitar builder 10 hrs a day.

I also have a powder blue telecaster. I think it's worth a but these days.

Well. The EB-0 (the SG) has a short scale so you you can fly on it, but its pretty shit. The thunderbird sounds good but its a fat neck, best bet Is the JAZZ bass. They play the best, they sound the best and play the best

Also, ive always used active pickups. Specifically the emg 81. Love it. Whats a passive pickup that has as much balls, because some good guitars come stock with passives and its a pain to put in actives because you have to find a spot for the 9v and there might not be one etc. Im the op, thats what i did to the ibanez, i had them drill me out a little space at the shop to hold a 9v

Btw i'm still OP from the white RG7421... It depends on the sound you're looking for but my first guitar was a Godin Redline II and they had Active EMGs in it

I dunno... I don't like active pickups and i find that passive pups have way more dynamics and an organic sound compared to active

Where to start is to stop trying to do something you can't do right now. Play stuff you can play, and try do expand your capability from there. When I started out the acoustic guitar intro to Uncle Tom's Cabin by Warrant was too hard. And it made me mad. But I've learned a lot of different songs and styles since then, and somehow it became more approachable. I guess just through experience. So just learn the songs you can do and keep trying different styles. And don't get discouraged.

I REALLY struggled with that choice. And I don't know i chose correctly. I had friends who had 5150s Loved them, but they couldn't control the gain. Love the Mesa Triple Rec, and it has good tones, high gain and easier to dial in, but but they're very limited in terms of each channel. Which lead to the amp layering.

Short answer...Diezel VH4. But I don't have half a Kia to spend on an amp...

stop eyeing and do it. Srsly. My bandmate had one 20+ years ago. Tuned it high to F#, and it sounded like a Fender. Tuned the one in the picture deep to C standard, sounds like a Gibson. Such a versatile guitar. You decide what you want to do with it.
